Blue, so true. If the Cards win, there better not be any excuses by Cubs fans. I'm sick of hearing them over the years by all of my friends that are Cubs fans. Cubs-Cards NLCS would be such a fun series, and both sides can talk all they want. One side will be right, and one will be wrong.

Marlins were a very good team last year Series could have gone either way. Prior is still in Spring traing as far as I'm concerned. I'll tsake my chances with that LIVE arm in 2 months. Wood is looking good and has best stuff in League. I don't see Maddox getting into playoff rotation. Cards 11-8 advantage for year was built without Wood and Prior and now there back and also Nomar is on board. We won't be saying wait until nest year this time

if...if the cubs make the playoffs i can guarantee you that maddux will be in the rotation. it is ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

blue, who will be left out then, Clement? Zambrano among league ERA leaders and Prior and Wood are Prior and Wood. I think one idea is to maybe give Maddux the first 5 innings and then Clement the next 4 innings. Something along those lines. A lot of options. Then both can go out there and give everything they hava ena dhold nothing back. Glendon Rusch is also terrific for 2-3 inning relief stints. That guy is going to get a serious offer to start somewhere next year. He may be a middle of the rotation, #3 or 4 starter, guy. He'd probably crack around 27 of 30 rotations in MLB.

d2, i don't know what the right answer would be but there is no way baker would leave maddux out of the rotation. he would use prior as the closer before he does that.

let's let the cubs win enough games to get in...then we'll see how baker screws it up afterwards.

But what do you guys think of the odds for a potential Cubs-Cards series. Assuming basically full health for both teams, who would be favored. I think the Cubs would have the slight odds edge, even as the road team. Am I wrong? And I think if it ended today, the odds to win an NL playoffs would be something like:
Cubs +180
Cards +200
Braves +400
Dodgers +420

Cubs -180 over Dodgers
Cards -190 over Braves

Disagree?

d2, if the cubs do make it in, it would not surprise me at all to see the cubs favored in any playoff series. in fact, i hope that exact scenario plays out...as long as the cubs win less than 94 games.

blue, Prior is not going to suddenly be the closer. Not a chance. If healthy and pitching anything near where they should, Wood and Prior will start Games 1 and 2. No question about it. You always have to go with your aces. After that, it's up in the air. But I would think they would all see action. That's why I say the bullpen isn't a big factor. I'd almost like to think Kyle Farnsworth would never step on to the field. And as for the pen, it looks like Remlinger is hitting his stride. He has looked real real sharp lately. He is very good when he is on his game.

blue, as I said before I think the Cubs have a better chance to win the WS than to win 95 games now. You are fortunate that they had health issues though. If Wood, Prior and Sosa had been healthy, then 95 games would have been rather easy to attain IMO.

kyle farnsworth to never step on the field? baker uses him 5 days a week.

am i lucky...maybe. injuries are part of the gamble the way i look at it. by the way, maybe its just my nature but, i am not counting my money yet on the cubs under. i have them under 94 wins for $400 and i have the yankees -6.5 wins over the cubs for $600.

neither one is a lock but both are in good shape.

Blue,
I think you will be cashing both your tickets. I have the Yanks over 98.5 games and I like my chances.
If the Cubs make the playoffs, I see no reason why Zambrano wouldn't be the number 3 starter as He has the lowest era of all their starters at 2.92 although Kerry Wood is right behind at 2.97 Go Cubs... Win 94 but win the wild card !

I got the Yankee over bet myself, I had the Cubs over last year, this year I didn't like it at all.As far as baker is concerned he might not be the greatest manager in the world, but neither is Larussa. All that talent in Oakland and St. Louis, other Managers would have more on their resume

im with ya blue.I got a big wager on under 92.5 games on the cubs. If they go under 10 games over at any time in the next few weeks i think its locked up.
