I believe Punz is indeed in trouble.
He lives in a rich part of Toronto predominantly populated by Italians. Some of the Italians in this neighbourhood have seen far too many Sopranos episodes. Nevertheless, many are connected and run usual wise guy businesses like gambling, loansharking, prostitution and some drugs.

Punz, no one will help you on a website with a debt this size. Man up and tell your family...I promise you they will help you.

My fathers words haunt mee every second of the day!! " matt, we love you to death, but if u ever gamble again, your leaving our home because you will learn the hard way out on the streets!!"
im not letting that happen man! noo

Trust me, I know what you are saying but it's the only way.
Your Father said that to scare you. Ask yourself this...would he rather see harm to you or pay the debt?

I know you went to them before. If your family (parents and grandparents) love you they will help you and understand that you had a problem.

You will restore your honor by going to GA nad by repaying the debt as qucikly as possible.

I know what its like being humiliated in front of your folks as well, I never had to go to them for money but I got into my own trouble, as did most people around here.

Strongly disagree with this post. If he already caused problems his parents might disown him in a way, especially since he is old enough to be kicked out now.

They may love him but there is a point where trust is destroyed and they will feel betrayed. If they leave him and he is forced to leave the house he will have to pay for living expenses on top of his debt. Most parents in this country and not good enough to stand by their child side through multiple issues even if he has a problem.

I'll tell you this. After talking to him for an hour tonight, he's not lying. He's in trouble and has no clue how to get out of it. He doesn't know how to set up a payment plan and he is scared because he's a kid in an adults world right now. I'd assume that he thinks the payment plan won't be enough but these guys would take 500 a month as long as it meant they were getting their money.

Will I toss him the money? Probably and I know many say it won't help but to see someone suffer and live in fear isn't a fun. I don't know him personally and he probably won't pay me back but that's life.

I truly believe he is going to try and prevent future gambling. Could he relapse? Yes, just like any other addiction it's tough to overcome it. If he goes to GA and his leader comes in contact with any of us I'd trust his sincerity much more. I don't think he is scamming anyone, but I also understand all the bullshit he is taking.

I don't agree with either side because I understand everyone has problems, but I also understand that many have worked through their problems w/o the help of others. Sometimes you need help and support. He said his friends have given him money and he's paid more than 3 grand already, but he doesn't have 10 grand. I know I haven't been here long and my word means nothing, but I figured I'd fill everyone in.

I do have to say that the "fake" phone conversation may be the funniest thing I've ever read.

My Grandfather graduated from Harvard. You know what he did for the first two years after he graduated?

He was a janitor at the local high school.

Solid post. After reading through this long drawn out RX version of The Young and the Restless I have to say I believe the kid. Now think back when you were 18 years old. I don't know about you guys but I wanted to drink beer, play sports and chase tail. This guy is scared for his life because he owes a lot of money. I'm not dropping him a penny because I have mouths to feed but everyone just cut him a little slack if you can.

Don't worry, they won't haunt you for long...since you'll be dead soon.

lmao.

I probably shouldn't be laughing if this dude is seriously in trouble (although it is his fault and he's being a pussy about it), but that was funny.

But seriously punz, you're not listening to anybody. The only answer for you has been said at least 50 times. Ask your parents for the money or meet with the guys and set up a payment plan. If they kick you out, oh well, maybe you'll learn the hard way. I was honestly threatened to get kicked out of my house when I was in high school at least 10 times and it's usually all bluffs to get you to act better and I'm sure it's the same in your case, especially if you tell them you'll go to GA.

Those are your two options, like it or not. Nobody is giving you a fucking $11 K handout because you're too dumb to realize you shouldn't be betting money you don't have. Just accept your options and try the payment plan at first with the most you can pay a week, and if they say no to that get your parents to help, even if it means getting kicked out (and honestly dude, do you not have any friends that would let you crash with them for a while?).
