Mob, I too am against the circus acts that are taking place, but you are letting that deter you from the talent it takes to become a true MMA craftsman.

You right, I might be. But I'm not saying it takes no craft or skill at all. I am just saying boxing is being undervalued due to the UFC circus. and EgD you are right, a MMA fighter in a street fight would beat up a boxer. But what is a UFC fight? Isn't it pretty much a street fight anyhow? There are no rules, unless you are gauging someone's eye out or ripping their balls off. So to me, the ONLY way to compare a mma fighter to a boxing fighter is have them fight in a boxing ring with boxing rules. Because there are no fucking rules in the UFC. I like boxing more but what I have seen from the "top" of the UFC hasn't matched with the hype that the UFC presents.

I actually have a friend who is a mma fighter. MM you might know him, John Del Bruge. He's been around for a minute in the game.

Boxing and MMA are like a game of paper rock scissors. There is always someone who has the style and ability capable of beating you.

I can't stand watching boxing and love the ufc (well mma) but not sure I would agree you have to be so well rounded and that it's more difficult to learn than boxing. Brock Lesnar could only wrestle and became a champ. Conner has almost no ground game and became a champ. And this in the modern era.

I don't know about y'all, but the history of boxing is just intriguing to me. The sport of boxing is way more prestigious. Ali, Jack Dempsey, Jake Lamotta, Sugar Ray robinson, Benny Leonard, Mike Tyson, Joe Lewis, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, Billy Conn, Roberto Duran. These guys are the definition of "legend." It is just incomparable.

I must say that out of all the boxers historically....

MIKE TYSON would hold his own in a ring lol

I'd be scared to be locked up in a ring with him

Within 60 seconds of the first round Uriah Faber at 150 pounds would strangle him to death - sure Tyson has a chance against anyone with his striking and there are matchups that would give him a good chance

It's only more prestigious because MMA is new and doesn't have history - give it time - like 50 years

He's only as popular as he is because Dana / UFC gave him a massive push.

I disagree he is the best in UFC history ... IMO not even top 10.

I disagree with both.

UFC fighters only became mainstream around 10 years ago.

Sure Conor might be that guy today ... to the casual fan ... but not the biggest star since company began in 1994.

Strange for you to disagree with a premise that was never put forth by anyone. That's all I was saying there.

As for the ACTUAL argument...name names. Who? Give me examples.

I read the title wrong ... that's why I said he wasn't the best ... my bad.

For one you can argue the fact that Loser Rousey is a bigger UFC star over Conor (Dana still admits it to this day even after she got murked by Nunes)

Rousey who? Connor's a bigger star than she ever was right now. She might be number 2 though.
