It's not fairy tale at all. I know a lot of Thai boxers that take fights as boxing only to stay active. Also, look at Muay Thai fighters versus boxers. Most Thai fighters have Hundreds of pro fights, hundreds, compared to what Mayweathers 50ish. Granted he had like 80 something or so ammy fights, but still...
The clinch game of Thai boxing is way more efficient than the clinch game of boxing. Granted, we need a ref that will let them fight...
MMA guys mainly do Thai because it is also greater than boxing.
But lets not act like their craft is more important or more difficult than boxing. That is where UFC begins to step on some toes IMO. Just keep it in your own lane. Why do you have to call out Mayweather to begin with? Because people know that is the true pinnacle of fighting.
I agree, but I'll take a guy with ground game in a street fight all day, everyday...I don't get what the argument is?
Of comparable skill level...
A boxer would win at boxing
A UFC fighter would win at UFC
The MMA "craft" is way more difficult to achieve than boxing. You have to know at least 3 styles to be fully effective. That's a fact. I just mentioned Mayweather for reference bc that's what most people do, but sorry, he's not the greatest and never will be in my mind, nor anyone's that I know of that really knows how to fight.
Mayweather isn't the greatest. I agree. But the craft I disagree on. The footwork in boxing and angles have to be so damn precise or you will be knocked out. In UFC you always have a chance if you can go to the ground. You don't have to be able to throw hands all you have to be able to do is tackle someone and lay on top of them or choke them to death. Brock Lesnar is the perfect example of this. What type of craft did he need to know to become champion? The World Wrestling Federation "craft"? Put him in a boxing match against some heavyweights and see what happens LOL!!!! That's another thing. It takes just about nothing to get a title shot in the UFC. Rhonda Rousey coming off a loss will get a title shot probably first time back lol
Are you serious? You don't think their craft is more difficult/important, protecting your face and dodge and weaving vs a fight til you are tapping out because you can't breathe in the octogon? LMAO
Boxing WAS the true pinnacle before UFC came in the game...
Jon bones jones would merk Mayweather in a UFC match....Mayweather would be climbing up the fencing lol
Mayweather would "win" in a fight in a boxing match but I don't see him knocking Jonny out...Even if he does it doesn't replicate what real shit would go on if it was a fight to the death...or even a fight on the streets...
UFC is badass fighting
Boxing is a "sport"
I will agree with you there. He should've used RDA.Forget the sports, Bones Jones would destroy Mayweather because he is twice his fucking size.
Tackle someone?!? Really...it's called shooting for a take down, or sprawling to defend. It is a craft in itself. Takes way more energy to pull off than straight boxing as said before as well.
Word. Mike Tyson scares me!! I would fight Mayweather, I wouldn't have been able to fight Tyson back in the day for shitting my pants on the way to the ring.I must say that out of all the boxers historically....
MIKE TYSON would hold his own in a ring lol
I'd be scared to be locked up in a ring with him
That type of fighter? U still are making no sense. Not many ufc fighters can beat any boxer in a boxing match.
Not to mention boxing you have to go 36 minutes. Ufc is what 25 max? But you think no ufc fighter would ever lose to a boxer in a boxing fight. Lmfao
Maybe it does, but it is the craft that is separating the best from the best in MMA. Main thing is, don't get hit or taken down, and you should be good. LolLol my bad. I was sounding ignorant with that one. But you get my ignorance. Brock Lesnar all he did was go for take downs and then sit on you. To me that is not craft. A big heavyweight in boxing trying to use his hands and feet requires wayyyyyyy MOREEEEEEE skill than shooting for a take down then sitting on you because you are bigger and stronger. It's the truth.
How's this working out?
