Obama really stepped in it with that line.

Hey libs, let's all hold hands and sing "We are the world" and everything will be peaches and cream...

What the hell is Obama talking about? That he as president would bow down and wait for "the world's" approval whenever America is threatened?

John Kerry's "global test" on steroids. :ohno:

Reality check:

"The world" doesn't confront evil -- THE UNITED STATES CONFRONTS EVIL.

"The world" doesn't spill it's blood for other nations -- THE UNITED STATES MAKES ALL THE SACRIFICES.

German 'soldiers' aren't allowed to engage the enemy in Afghanistan -- THE UNITED STATES DOES ALL THE HEAVY LIFTING.

With a few exceptions, in most of the 'hotzones' around the world, the rest of our "allies" send a dozen or so token troops for merely symbolic reasons -- so the delusional knuckleheads in Brussels can claim it's a "multilateral" effort. The blue berets may as well be designated international crossing guards...

The 'U' in UN stands for USELESS!

I would say this to every other nation in the world: when you were sick, the Americans brought medicine. When you were hungry, the Americans brought food. When you had earthquakes and tsunamis and floods, the Americans came. And when you were insecure and you were attacked, the Americans left the safety of their own homes and came to defend you. I will never apologize for the United States of America.

-- Rep. Duncan Hunter

AMERICA is the last best hope for man on earth.

But Mr. "Community Organizer" doesn't like America's proud brave history of confronting and defeating evil -- he wants a kinder, gentler America to be more like "the world."

Memo to Sen. Obama: "THE WORLD" STINKS -- and so do YOU! :puke1:

But please, keep talkin' :103631605

If it wasn’t for our fathers and grandfathers all Europe would be speaking German and all of Asia, New Zeeland and Australia would be speaking Japanese.

Nonsense.

Both presume that a single country (Japan or Germany) could take dozens of other countries by force and maintain control for 60+ years.

Nothing even remotely near that has happened in at least the past 1000 years.

That’s because we are. If it wasn’t for our fathers and grandfathers all Europe would be speaking German and all of Asia, New Zeeland and Australia would be speaking Japanese. Every time the USA takes a hit whether it be economically or militarily the country has sucked it up and came back stronger. Oh ye of little faith.

In those days of our fathers & grandfathers there were very few citizens of the like of D2Bets & gtc to dampen the resolve of America. Now thinkers of such ilk are all over the place. Scary times!

Why is that? Because you say so? Your entitled to your opinion but you have to do better than say nonsense. Explain why 2 countries with superior forces couldn’t maintain control for 60+ years over other countries that had no way of stopping them.

After the collapse of the USSR I thought that slogan would finally be put to rest, but no here comes Obama to revisit Marxism in a more ENLIGHTENED fashion.
Where communism has failed, social democracy has triumphed. Both have proven disastrous for the West.

I don't see where social democracy has triumphed - it took about 75 years for communism to make it from birth to bust - let's give social democracy a few more years to play itself out.

It seems to me that the Euros have left themselves open to a takeover simply by their own population implosion - people are living longer and having fewer kids - the Muslims have moved in to work the jobs the Euros don't want and are having kids all over the place - another generation or two and Europe will be part of the new Caliphate.

By the way, let's call a spade, a spade - It's social democracy only in that the workers get to vote for 32 hour work weeks and 6 week vacations - other than that it's an economic balancing act that could collapse at any kind of serious turmoil.

You suggested that "all of Europe would be speaking German" and most of Southeast Asia would be speaking Japanese"

I'd say it's on you to provide even a speck of support for the notion that multiple countries could be controlled for 60+ years by a single country, regardless of that latter country's strength.

The closest we came to that was the Eastern Bloc countries allowing themselves to be subject to the rule of Moscow for almost 40 years following WWII and those relationships were originally entered into voluntarily by the affected nations.

The human spirit is too strong to permit any one nation to forcibly occupy and dominate another for very long. The Romans learned their lesson the hard way when they tried to expand their empire via violent force. Germany would have had the same experience even if the USA had stayed out of WWII. The countries they took from 1938-1941 may have kowtowed for a few more years, but their people would have been covertly plotting revolution the entire time even as Berlin was trying to figure out how to keep the Russians at bay to the East.

+Germany's war goal wasn't conquest (besides the General Government). Germany also made multiple attempts at peace before the peak of the war.

The Germans got beaten by the Russkies, the Germans were at the gates of Moscow before America even entered the fucking war.

The 5th of December 1941 was the biggest turning point in the war, the final battle for Moscow and you guys weren't even in the damn thing yet.

:grandmais

And if the Japs hadn't bombed the shit out of your Pacific fleet at Pearl two days later you might NEVER have entered the war.

And then you declared war on Japan, but NOT Germany.

Learn some history please.
