When teams have it made and know they will not lose all 4 final games they let up for a game or two mid late season.

Yes they are not concerned about seeding as the broadcasters narrative pushes to increase the importance of the game for their network.

So the teams that are coasting do not give it all for 4 quarters and sometimes lose, sometimes manage to win but not cover. Sure sometimes a coach can convince the team to “clinch this weekend” but mostly they are not thinking about seeding games 12-13-14-15 while on the field.

Look at recent several weeks ATS for these teams, I have done well. Today there are numerous games that fit this situational approach.

Two observations from my 50 years of watching as much or more football than any of my football following friends and acquaintancess, and 25 years of weekly football capping since I opened my first off shore account:

(1) Talking heads are always so, so put out by NCAA or NFL teams that "knew what they had to do and didn't get it done," against some other team without that same motivation. Usually the reason they are in that position, and frequently why they don't get it done, is because they showed themselves to not be very good. That's why they play the game.

(2) The NFL motivation of seeding in the playoffs has proven itself time and time again to not be anywhere near as strong a motivation as the desperate motivation of having to win to get in, even for good teams.
