Whenever I read a thread here like this it amazes me that anyone this paranoid would wager on NFL games. If you truly believe that games are 'fixed' why in the hell would you wager on them. I'm just nieve enough to think that the casinos in Vegas don't have to cheat you to keep their doors open. The risk of cheating customers and losing their license when they can operate legit games and win. Millions of people watch and bet on these games each week. If the cheating was obvious and often how long do you think the NFL would survive. Take the gambling away from the NFL and other sports and you'd have family and friends watching the games.

I don't doubt that it's possible players are paid to throw a game, but this is just a really bad example with Decker. This just wasn't his game. If you are going to pay a player to throw a game, it definitely wouldn't be the 2nd option WR in a sport like football.

PEDs is also a terrible example because players are taking that to be BETTER at their job.

Always interesting commentary in these threads though.

Agree completely. Most people I know love watching the ge and maybe 5% of them gamble on the games. I don't know where this thought that everyone gambles is originated.

I would love to sit down face to face with fellow forum posters and discuss this topic of sports being "fixed".

It's a lot deeper than players getting paid to shave points.

Why you asked why we bet if we know games are being fixed is because you can win a lot if you know when and which side the "fixed" is on.

That's all I want to add.........don't really want to go into it.

This is just another nut job conspiracy theory. Like the ones about the "fake" Newtown Massacre or the 911 conspiracy that the U.S. Government plotted it. The statistical probability of these conspiracies working, and everyone involved keeping their mouths shut are a billion to one. It's one thing for a college basketball player, every 10 years or so, to accept a bribe, but these NFL players accepting one is ridiculous. Don't you think his teammates and coaches would notice his lack of effort? How many wise guys would be involved in betting in this particular game that Decker supposedly threw? Would bookmakers be in on it? How about the extra cash Decker has now and his close family asking questions? How about people who know him seeing him hanging around suspicious types? And exactly how does one contact a player to shave points? If Decker or all the other players who have been approached, refused, wouldn't that be a huge story?(one we never hear)

Like someone said in an earlier thread, we all have selective memory when we lose on some bad breaks. But we forget about the ones we won on some lucky breaks. Decker has waaaaaay too much to lose to take a payoff.

I'm not doing the work for you. If you're too lazy just keep your head in the sand and remain ignorant.

Just what I thought another conspiracy theorists we have here. Just point out one example where a PRO athletic was involved in fixing or point shaving. Point it out ! One team or per player in the modern time. Last scandal was 1919 Black Sox 95 years ago. That was a total different time which can not be compared to today's HIGHLY PAID ATHLETIC'S. Just because you think it's fixed it's not so. A mind is a terrible think to waste when you do not use it properly.

Personally I think it would be easier for the refs to fix games than the player...

I find it funny how ppl who dont believe in fixes want those that do to prove it, yet you ask them to disprove it and they CANT.

Here's an instance where Redskins were given 5 downs to score. The line judge stood at the 2 yrd line where he was supposed to. But 1st down marker was on the 3. They were given (2) 1st downs. But not one player, coach or ref caught that? The ENTIRE amount of ppl at that stadium just forgot how to count? Perhaps it was a mistake?:neenee:

Heres a few videos that show what happens when "refs" decide the outcomes of games.

Have you ever made a mistake in your life ? You are truly confused between the meaning fixed and errors in a game which their will always be.

You have not proved anything here. Other than mistakes are made in the NFL constantly. It is a sport, a sport with human errors.
Tampa Bay coaches should have been fired on the spot for not making a scene after that 5th down error. Thats not a fix job, thats an idiotic job by many coaches and players.
Going by your logic than the long snapper must have been paid to snap the ball to the 30 yard line on the game tying extra point?

I especially like the guy who gets so upset that a Detroit Lion player called a fair catch when he had plenty of room to advance the ball. OMG what a travesty. Lions players are so fucking sharp and focused on the game LOL.

well, ppl LEARN from mistakes. Making the same mistakes over and over are a different story. How do you fail to mis the count of downs in a game? How do you go from one crappy call on one game to call ANOTHER crappy call? You didnt learn from the first time? Seems a little odd dont you think?

Especially when refs are able to review a play and STILL get the call wrong and simply say, well I was just looking at this 2 second section of the replay, not its ENTIRETY!

And you my friend are really confused. Why do you even bet on football if you think it's fixed ? If it's fixed a smart person like you should be able to figure out the outcome? You still have not pointed out one instance of cheating in the NFL or NBA for your case other then you think and I say it's cheating. Your mind and I think won't hold up anywhere to support your claim of cheating.

Why doesnt the NFL introduce a computer chip on the ball and lasers onthe sidelines to mark the ball EXACTLY where its needs to be spotted rather than run a crooked line to place ball placement a yard off of where he was initially standing? I guess thats a mistake they make over and over again just for the hell of it?

So the players, coaches and refs dont follow a spread or a total. They dont EVER look at those numbers and see where theyre at in the game when its comin down to its final moments?

This isn't true at all. Refs are pretty amazing at how accurately they place the ball. Easiest part of the job, they have a hash mark every yard?
