can people be taught how to play poker?

ok guys, in the past ive been told that my style of play (im not even sure what that is? aggressive maybe, not very patient etc), would be better suited for cash games as opposed to tourneys. do you think that is true?

i would think though that even in tourneys you have to be somewha aggressive or ppl will get a read on you?

I agree with HC play some of both and then pick a side and stick with it.
Its completely different from each other.

Lots of good books out there on SNGs and MTTs.

personally i think i like cash games better. even though im pretty terrible at them!

No, I think over-aggressiveness suits itself better to tournies. Cause if you catch an insane run of cards you have a great shot to win.

If you are consistently over-aggressive at the cash tables you will have a LOT of horrific sessions.

question. when late registering for a scheduled tourney, what should be the determining factor? avg chip size compared to what i would be starting with? or should i never late register? thanks for the help.

You should register if your starting stack is at the very least 20 big blinds... otherwise you are limited to one shove hand, and 5+ rounds until you get pretty much blinded out
