Well guys I made a bet with a butthead @ EOG. If Chrome loses I leave EOG. If Chrome wins he leaves EOG. So guys, here I am. Dumb bet but I just couldn't take
the way he talked to people over there. I noticed a long time ago guys respect one another here. Ok if I make this my new home?

Yep. A heart 3x bigger than the average horse. What an oxygenated blood pumper.

At the time of Secretariat's death, the veterinarian who performed the necropsy, Dr. Thomas Swerczek, head pathologist at the University of Kentucky, did not weigh Secretariat's heart, but stated, "We just stood there in stunned silence. We couldn’t believe it. The heart was perfect. There were no problems with it. It was just this huge engine."[SUP][35][/SUP] Later, Swerczek also performed a necropsy on Sham, who died in 1993. Swerczek did weigh Sham's heart, and it was 18 pounds (8.2 kg). Based on Sham's measurement, and having necropsied both horses, he estimated Secretariat's heart probably weighed 22 pounds (10.0 kg),[SUP][34][/SUP] or about two-and-three-quarters times as large as that of the average horse.

The one point Coburn made that I agree with is why can a horse that couldn't have qualified for the Kentucky Derby under money earned, still be allowed to run in the Belmont? Just because you have the money to enter a horse in a race doesn't mean you should automatically be able to. It's almost the equivalent of a pro team being able to buy themselves into the NFL Playoffs without having to play a game during the regular season...

Agree with the sore loser, crybaby posts. This wasn't a great or even really good horse....was lucky to win the first two. He ran the 4th slowest winning time for the KY derby in the last 25 years. It was odd that he even got to this point. He deserved to lose. The Triple Crown represents GREATNESS, not just being the best in a bad year.

Since Affirmed five horses have lost Derby but won other two..... defeating other horses which did not run all 3 races

I am not a real close follower of horse racing, but those five indicate that it is not a lack of rest which prevented a Triple Crown winner, but instead lack of a great horse has prevented a Triple Crown winner.

California Chrome was not a great horse.

1988 - Risen Star (3rd in Derby)
1991 - Hansel (10th)
1994 - Tabasco Cat (6th)
2001 - Point Given (5th)
2005 - Afleet Alex (3rd)

two horses in that time have won the Derby and the Belmont, but lost the Preakness
1984 - Swale (6th)
1995 - Thunder Gulch (

Biggest crybaby ever. All the great winners played under the same conditions. If they changed the rules to his liking someone would win the 3c every 2 or 3 years.

My god what a wuss. Now I'm glad cc lost. Hadand Spectacular Bid I known the owner was such a puss before the race I would have been fading his assbigtime. What a loser . Biggest crybaby I have ever seen in the history of sports

The owner never should have said what he did!!!! And now he's predicting they'll never be a triple crown winner in his lifetime. Many horses
have come from the Peter Pan to win the Belmont and its not cheating as this guy says. I think it was 1980 & Spectacular Bid (Far superior a
horse than California Chrome) lost to Coastal who was late in training and could never have been ready for the Kentucky Derby but ran
to victory in the Peter Pan and beat SB in the Belmont by a bunch. The Peter Pan run at the same track as the Belmont is an excellent prep
for the Belmont. I'm sure others have prepped for & won the Belmont via the Peter Pan but Coastal is the only one that comes to mind.

Chrome's owner had an excellent run, obviously he is dissapointed and more obviously he's a sore loser. When they told the owner of the winning horse what's Chrome's owner said the winning owner said 'I can't even respond to that". Chrome was the 12th owner since 1978 who fell short of the TC but he is the only one who embarrassed himself with his statements after losing.

I don't see anything wrong with tweaking the rules of the Triple Crown. It's pretty simple, they should make a rule that in order for a horse to qualify for the Belmont, he needs to have run in either the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness. Loomis, I agree with what you said. Chrome was far from a great horse. But there have been Triple Crown winners in the past who have been inferior to their predecessors. Winning the Triple Crown depends just as much on stength and luck as it does speed. And a weak year for strong horses like this year doesn't hurt either. I've seen horses run some damn fast times in the Derby, and then come back and do nothing. Monarchos comes to mind. He's the only other horse besides Secretariat to run the Derby in under 2 minutes. But he never did anything after that. He didn't have the strength of a TC winner...

Funny Cide or even Barbaro(rip) were better and more deserving horses than this one.

Guy should have kept his mouth shut.... Now he looks like a massengil specialist

He may not have agreed with the outcome of the race, but Coburn should have at least had the class to give congratulations to Tonalist and it's owners after his nitwit rant. The good thing is his 15 minutes are now up...

Since affirmed won in 1978 the two best horses that had a chance for the crown & missed were Spectacular Bid & Sunday Silence. Bid was beat by a fresh horse Coastal and Sunday Silence had a great rival Easy Goer who beat him badly in the Belmont.

Sunday Silence's granddaughter, Aussie, lives on a farm down the street from my house. Great horse.

Sunday Silence had to be so athletic & nimble to beat Easy Goer the big horse that beat Silence in the Belmont. Sunday Silence again beat Easy Goer in the Breeders Cup making it 3 out of 4. Not quite Affirmed/Alydar, but those 2 had a great rivalry!

There are many ways to Qualify for the Triple Crown races, one is Money earned, another is placing good in other Graded and State Races.
Tonalist won the peter Pan, it's a Grade 1 Stakes race. The #3 horse was in the race and barely earned over $62K lifetime .

Like I said before, he's a very good Horse. Great Story line with only costing $10K and has earned over $3 Mil, and is probably worth around $10 Mil
The owners should be fuking Thrilled to Death... I know I would be.
This only happens once in a Lifetime.

I've seen owners spend $1Million+ on a horse because of their Bloodlines and go out and earn $50K, seen them spend this much or more and make a lot of money.
I've also seen horses cost $10K+ and earn 100's of thousands of $$$

If he would have won, he wouldn't have said Boo. Any Horse can have a bad day/race. Shit ! even the Jockey said he just didn't have it Today. Distance the problem ??? Hell yeah, it probably had something to do with it. They don't run many 1 1/2 races.

and I said this in another Thread about the Triple Crown. ALL DREAMS END AT THE BELMONT

After I buy one of your businesses, or maybe I should buy a yacht so I can cruise beside you first?
