I can't stand Jordan, but LBJ could win 6, 7 or 10. He won't ever better than MJ. When MJ had the ball, you always assumed he was going to score. With Lebron, there is no fear that this guy is going to make the jumper or hit a turn around j that will beat you. People forget just how prolific MJ was on the offensive end.

Kobe was the closest player to give you that feeling.....

i said almost the exact same thing when arguing this subject over the weekend.

The dream was the best 5 I've ever seen and it's really not close. Shaq had more athletic ability but not nearly as skilled.

Chop, I love ya man, but are you nuts?? Dream may be THE most athletic C ever IMO! As much as I love O & the Logo, Magic has to be @ point. Same @ C, tuff call but I did see Wilt, he was as physical as Shaq, and as skilled as Kareem.

So my list is:
Magic
MJ
Wilt (Dream)
Duncan (Karl M)
Larry (LBJ)

They changed the rules for mj and shaq

And, they have continued on with an ENTIRELY different set of rules James. For such a physical man-child..... James has become such a sissified flopping wiener!

I feel like I made an error in my post very early in the thread.

Update:

PG Magic
SG Michael
SF Bird
PF Russell
C Jabbar

Clearly no doubt on Michael or Magic. If you want to argue about Bird..... The name you are looking for is Dr. J. Irving was listed as a SG/SF for his whole career. Hard to leave out Russ based on all his accomplishments. Hard to leave out Jabbar..... Top scorer of all time.... could shot mid range..... make free throws....etc. If you omit Russ, your man would be Karl Malone. Second leading scorer of all time..... fabulous rebounder, etc.

LeBron is not even the best ACTIVE player playing the game today. Not as long as Duncan is around.

I understand some people's rush to include James..... But the title of the thread says "in NBA history".

I stand behind my comment that Shaq was the most athletic center of all time.
Agility and quickness etc does not equal athletic ability

Like DoubleDeuce mentioned, teams were daring LeBron to shoot in the finals last year, think about that.

This is my new go to when people try to prop up Lebron as better than larry/magic or especially mj..

tell me any scenario where you could even fathom a team in the finals begging any of those guys to shoot. Laughable! And they want to call him the greatest!!!??

Actually pretty sure people played off Magic all the time

Shaq in his prime was much more athletic than the dream.

No doubt.
I think Shaq was the most amazing specimen of his type to ever play the game.

He had very little skill but was still a HOFer.
Very few people with that little skill are in the HOF.

As a matter of fact I can't think of any player in the HOF with that little skill.
He managed to be a top 30 or 40 player of all-time on athletic ability alone.

Dwight Howard is a lesser version of that now.

I great example is if HAKEEM would have not developed his skill he would not have been a HOFer.
HAKEEM had to develop his skill set to become a HOFer.

All Shaq had to do was be Shaq.

Indeed. And, the funnier thing is that LeBron wouldn't take the wide open shot when they gave it to him (most of the time).

How did my post #78 quote BTD's post #79.

This should not be possible.
Almost like quoting him before he even posted.
