HmmHmmm what religion could these guys have been?

Malaysia is considered to have a secular constitution so they are NOT classified as an Islamic state , BUT , 62% of the population is muslim and they use shariah courts. ... so no surprise that the pilots were muslim.

Haha

I think I see where you are going with this

probably a non factor -- as much as a guy who is Christian piloting a plane from the US etc.

but personally don't want
Ahmad Shaw
and Abdul Hamid piloting my families flight .

With the new info about the radar pings way out in the Indian Ocean, and the plane having 5 hours of fuel, I'm thinking this plane was stolen and has been landed somewhere. I doubt someone flies that far to commit suicide.

I'm wondering if it will be used to, say, deliver a nuclear bomb.

Hard to land a plane that large without someone knowing about it... But I do agree that it would be a long way to travel if the sole purpose was suicide.

A 777 needs a 1 mile paved runway. This is not a C-130 that can land on a dirt strip.

There aren't that many such runways in that part of the world and they all have population around them. And not many hangars.Doable but not expected for a terror type group.

If you really think someone took the plane and landed it you'd have to think a nation's military was involved.

Which seems at least vaguely plausible given the ridiculous delays in sharing information.

Though you'd want to check the passenger manifest carefully so you would have an idea of who the target might be.

Agree with all of this.

I totally believe it was a suicide mission on the pilot's part.....30,000 ft, into the water in 4.2 seconds. 239 passengers and not 1 distress text was sent....tells you passengers were unaware of any trouble or were out of range, I am not really sure of the whole range thing.

The United States will find the plane. It's in the Indian Ocean. Not that ever in history these types of things would be left unsettled, but in this day and age, more than ever....they're going to get to the bottom of it.

Two U.S. officials tell ABC News the U.S. believes that the shutdown of two communication systems happened separately on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. One source said this indicates the plane did not come out of the sky because of a catastrophic failure.
The data reporting system, they believe, was shut down at 1:07 a.m. The transponder -- which transmits location and altitude -- shut down at 1:21 a.m.

Being there were no distress texts sent...I guess there's always the chance these people could've been somehow gas by something. And the plane just continued to fly on its own, while everyone on board was dead or unconscious. Leave it to the US to figure it out though.

I have left my phone on several times during takeoff despite the warnings. Honestly, it doesn't take very long at all for my phone to completely lose service. It loses service well before we get to cruising altitude and I'm talking about flying over land.

Is is it really possible for people to call and text during a flight? I know the first thing we think of is Flight 93. But wasn't that flight flying pretty low at the time of those distress calls because they knew a crash was inevitable. And it was also over land of course. I'm just not sure it's as easy as sending a text or calling even if everyone was trying to. Especially in that area of the world.

I still can't decide what the hell I think happened. None of it makes sense.

They keep talking about the pilot on the news. But I'm more suspicious of the young muslim co-pilot.
