well can someone die from a car crash?

Again, by your logic, all cars should be taken off the road because it's been proven that it is indeed possible to hack a car's computer system.

Also, based on the link slapshot just provided, it is possible for this to happen, yet planes still fly. So your statement is just wrong.

But to your point, GM is having issues right now with their ignitions and people have died and they are still driving.

A plane with 300 people crashing in a residential neighborhood is much different than a single car crash. The media picture is much more dramatic and immediate.

This isn't a black and white issue. Many variables involved.

Angry? did I curse or call you a name? Nope.

Typical Enfuego post. Argue about semantics until you get proven wrong and then act like everyone else is taking things too serious. It would be funny if it weren't so obvious.

And now you make it personal? Have a good night man. It's just a discussion.

And proven wrong about what? I didn't think I was trying to make a point about anything really.

I'm a total news junkie and this whole story is downright bizarre...it appears nobody has any clue what's going on and that's why there is a new headline everyday...the media is chomping at the bit for something to report and they are running with whatever half ass hair brain story that appears on there desk

And cue Enguego playing the victim card.

Youre wrong because you said if there was any chance of a hacker being able to overtake an airplanes computer system, the airlines would ground all flights. Slapshot provided a link showing it was indeed possible. Even without the link, are you that dense to believe there is a 0% chance of it happening? You're either too stubborn or the most narrow-minded person ever. Based on every other thread you post in, I'm guessing the latter.

Victim card? Just find it odd you're obviously getting agitated over this. It's not that big of a deal. Have a beer...enjoy the games.

I'm dense, I'm stubborn, I'm narrow-minded. Cool. Thanks for the compliments.

I can 100% assure you that you cannot agitate me.

Pretty funny when one notorious poster argues with pretty much everyone on the forum over semantics yet fails to realize he's the common denominator.

Who's arguing about anything?

Stubborn, narrow-minded, notorious and dense. Thanks man. Made my day :).

You are arguing. I posted what I saw on 60 Minutes about a possibility of hacking an airplane. I even said that I seriously doubt it happened in this scenario but that it was a possibility in the future. Pretty simple post.

You responded by arguing that airlines had already thought about that and if there was any chance of it ever happening, they would ground all flights. Once the link proved you wrong, you continued to argue for reasons still unknown.

for those interested, new satellite images are now live on tomnod.com to search for the aircraft

I didn't say they had already thought of it. I didn't say that. I simply asked you if you thought they'd already thought of that. Maybe they have or maybe they haven't? I have no idea.

My opinion though is if there is any real chance it could seriously happen, flights would be grounded. If it happened and the airlines knew it could happen, the lawsuits would be through the roof almost I assume to the point of bankruptcy.

Continued to argue? I haven't really disagreed with you at all.

Personal. Seems most terrorist groups cannot wait to take credit for their work....so if it were an act of terrorist, I think we would've heard something by now....but then again it could be 1 or just a handful of people responsible. It just makes sense. Didn't some pilot a few years ago crash some plane in Indonesia on purpose?
I'm actually kind of leaning towards something like this myself. The 777 has pretty much a spotless safety record, and is a relatively new model. It makes me lean more towards either pilot error or as you said, possible suicide. Something tells me if the plane is ever found, there isn't going to be much of a debris field. With pilot error I'm thinking they went straight down.

Can you imagine if a plane went down in San Antonio with 250 people on board and also killed 10 on the ground and then when questioned, the airline admitted they knew they had a lapse in their security and knew an outside source could take a jumbo jet down?

They'd be sued for millions and people would go to jail for a very long time.

I totally believe it was a suicide mission on the pilot's part.....30,000 ft, into the water in 4.2 seconds. 239 passengers and not 1 distress text was sent....tells you passengers were unaware of any trouble or were out of range, I am not really sure of the whole range thing.

The United States will find the plane. It's in the Indian Ocean. Not that ever in history these types of things would be left unsettled, but in this day and age, more than ever....they're going to get to the bottom of it.

Two U.S. officials tell ABC News the U.S. believes that the shutdown of two communication systems happened separately on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. One source said this indicates the plane did not come out of the sky because of a catastrophic failure.
The data reporting system, they believe, was shut down at 1:07 a.m. The transponder -- which transmits location and altitude -- shut down at 1:21 a.m.

If you are using GM as a reference, people have already been sued. And jail time isn't out of the question. But most of the people who are in charge of General Motors today aren't the now retired old school management of 2000 that neglected many things, including safety designs and the way they conducted their "too big to fail" business.

Yeah, I think the same thing would happen but even more extreme in the case of an airplane.
