What an event , I think Sherk could take Edgar down if he tried to every single minute at some point he would have success . Guy thinks he is a top boxer but in reality he is a midget with very short arms .
I don't know how to handicap fights these days , people getting DQed left and right or decide to throw their usual gameplan out of the window .
So I am around 1900 dollars down for this event and overall in general I have lost about half of the bankroll I built up for MMA . Don't known if I should keep betting and my luck might change at some point or just stick to other sports . Will see how DREAM event goes tomorrow ...
I see many people got burned on Xavier and Sherk today but Barry looked like a very good pick as well , Nover and Miller I am not really sure about but at the price I had to go with Dan Miller .

Went on tilt after all losses and placed those trying to chase , so far so good , will need Sokoudjou to win tomorrow against the big fat can .
Next UFC event I am placing my whole mma account on Rich Franklin over Wanderlei Silva , of course if there is still anything left .

Brianiac in your opinion where does Machita rank as one of the all time greats as a complete fighter? I've been watching UFC since a little kid and remember Gracie beating men 3 times his size and he still to me remains as the most memorable fighter I've seen. GSP, Faber, Hughes, are all great in their own right but Machita seems to be more complete. Thoughts?

me and my friends have been arguing for the past few hours haha

just in case you didn't see my question

Imo, Gracie was a great fighter but Machida is just getting better and better and easily could wind up being the greatest all around Ufc fighter ever..The guy is a freak
Who's gonna want to fight this guy is the question?

Many just for the pay day haha but Griffin and Rampage would be the two fighters that wouldn't back down to answer your question. Then again your right after its over they'll be dizzy to (just like "Sugar" Evans said he was after the fight)

Spider vs Dragon would be the Pacquiao vs Mayweather of UFC.

Faber is very good and has some nasty moves that people wont see from any other fighter but sometimes he has to pay for them like against Brown . Hughes was good but this had to do with the level of MMA at the time , you see what guys like Alves or GSP can do to him now and this isn't just him getting old , fighters are just more well rounded now and if he cant take them down Hughes is in big trouble and it's just matter of time when he gets knocked out .
GSP tho is on same level with Fedor and Faber , amazing fighter and has it all .

Machida is very unique fighter , I thought he could struggle against a strong wrestler but now I've changed my mind and think he would have hard time with a good striker but there aren't many of those in LHW . Evans was way too passive and Thiago Silva too aggressive , this wont work against Machida . I still think Rashad should go for the takedown early , he showed an amazing heart yesterday and took crazy amount of clean punches so I think a punch or two on his way to a takedown wouldn't KO him . Now he will have to blame himself and wonder what would happen if he tried and got Machida down .

Machida looks like a real deal , I don't see any LHW beating him at HW there would be few who I would clearly give the edge over him . If he stays LHW I don't see Rampage give him trouble , maybe Shogun with perfect cardio , we will see soon I guess ...

i think brown may well beat faber again...faber has trouble with big strong guys...watch the video of tyson griffin giving him a beatdown....

i don`t think he`s a pfp guy...the wec just doesn`t have the talent that the ufc has...faber looks great against wec talent....i think he`d struggle a bit in the ufc....granted,he`s a 145 pounder,but,against a smallish 155 pounder like frankie edgar....or quite a few 155 pounders,he`s in a world of hurt...

the limited wec talent pool makes him look much better than he is,imo.....his resume is just so-so...

i could be wrong...just my opinion...

Next UFC event I am placing my whole mma account on Rich Franklin over Wanderlei Silva , of course if there is still anything left .

you think the -130 odds available now are worth locking in, or will this move closer to even as 6/13 gets closer?

Honestly I am not really sure , people handicapping this fight most likely going to place their hard earned money on Rich against people who still believe Wanderlei can do damage which I think isn't the case anymore and has been for a while . He is 1-4 in his last 5 with only W against Keith Jardine , I consider this a lucky win , if he didn't put Keith to sleep in 36 seconds he was probably going to lose as well . He is just swinging wildly these days and believe this will be matter of time when Rich catches him . Rich's doesn't really have any holes in his game , sure he was put on his back by Hendo but Wanderlei is no threat in this department . Also Anderson Silva has destroyed him in the clinch , while Wanderlei is also known for his clinch but this was ages ago and I haven't seen him use it in the UFC . I lean my head out of the window and say Wanderlei wont be able to use muay thai clinch to beat up Rich because he doesn't have the height that Anderson was able to use against Franklin in the clinch .
Wanderlei USED TO knock people out and Rich has only lost this way 3 times against 2 different people : Anderson Silva x2 and Lyoto Machida , both TOP 5 p4p men and known for their technical striking with crushing power . I don't see Rich losing to Wanderlei who will try to chase him or swing wildly . If Rich doesn't do well in stand up he can try to mix it up going for takedowns , I really don't think he will need to because he has superior overall striking game and should be able to score points . Wanderlei has never mixed it up in his whole career and I don't see him doing here either , he will just stand there and swing which most likely will get him a lot of new fans , this being the first event in Germany but not the W on his record .
I just maxed out - 130 and - 135 on pinnacle , we will see how this line moves but I don't see why this should be a close fight , Wanderlei connected to Chuck's beat up jaw and didn't KO him , Rich like Chuck has superior striking and doubt Wanderlei can overcome this .

Yahir Reyes vs Joe Soto

My pick is Joe Soto to win

Odds : - 290

&

Roberto Vargas vs Wilson Reis

My pick is Wilson Reis to win

Odds : - 390

Combined odds : 1.697

Where : 5dimes

5 units to win 3.44 units

Reyes is a solid fighter but Soto should be too good for him . I've made a mistake and placed my money on Wilson Reis against Soto in the previous round of this tournament but this guy seems like the real deal . Reyes can only win this one by a sub , Soto has strong wrestling background and powerful stand up . Soto can win by KO , ground and pound or decision controlling the fight . Reyes's most legit chance is to win by sub but from what I've seen his BJJ might not be good enough to pull it off from the bottom position with Soto pounding him in the face . Wilson Reis is few levels above Reyes in BJJ and wasn't able to submit Soto so I doubt Yahir Reyes can pull it off .

This fight was like 5 years ago and Reyes for sure has improved but still I don't like his chances in this one seeing how he got pounded out by a lesser caliber wrestler back then , Soto is a short guy and isn't easy to be subbed from bottom plus he has powerful ground and pound . In my opinion Reyes can only count on a ''lucky'' punch here because Soto has advantage no matter where this fight takes place .

Don't know much about Vargas but Wilson Reis has to bounce back after the loss to Soto , he is still a good fighter but was way too passive in his previous fight against Soto . I count on him to bounce back with a win , hopefully by a submission .

Nice win...

Sounds like the Reis fight was close. Nice to see you end up on the right side of that one. :toast:
