@b281282: I said "Fortunately" because of the surprising top3-result, but sounds like Brainiac had a good shot nonetheless ;)

@Brainiac: Which book do you use for biathlon? And btw: as I'm betting some more tennis lately, which bookies are recommendable besides 5d? I always hear that fonbet is quite good for tennis, but am a bit sceptical cuz of their rather low ranking at SBR ("C").
thanks for ur explanation that was joke . :toast:

1 hour til start - just some thoughts looking at the odds right now....
Good odds for Tchoudov vs Greis/Bjoerndalen, but I won't go against the norwegian master! Besides, Tchoudov seemed not so strong in the relay and you have to take into consideration that the Germans know this track inside out! Because of that I'm thinking about Roesch ranked top3@6,0 - he has good memories of Ruhpolding and high confidence atm - still undecided though...
I am very tempted to make a (very small!) fun underdog bet on Landertinger - the austrian youngster shows good shooting+running and has nothing to lose.
UB group bets are interesting, too - could take the two Russians in both cases.
But probably I pass today or do some live betting instead....a hangover and sleepy head are no good betting advisors :drink:

i like actually Greis over Tschudov.
The russian is not the best in Sprint and Greis is by far the most reliableof the germans right now. He is also usually among the top guys in Sprint.

the only other thing i am still thinking about is Bjorndalen to win..it s always risky to pick the winner in this sport, but bjorndalen usually finishes in top 3 in the Sprint, so odds that he is winning are always good.

any opinion welcome..

overall the norwegians seem to be pretty reliable in shooting suddenly, so dangerous to go against them.

Congrats for Wolf over Sumann!
Good choice that I skipped all of my leans. Skiing material of Germany must have been a lot better than Norway's - difficult snow conditions on the track due to rain and rather high temp.
Tomorrow both pursuits; I will have a look at the odds later today.

Head to Head

Kati Wilhelm vs Andrea Henkel

My pick is Kati Wilhelm to finish ahead of Andrea Henkel

5 units to win 3.75 units at gamebookers

Kati will start 9 seconds ahead of Andrea Henkel . Wilhelm had 2 errors in standing position shooting which is very unsual for her . Andrea Henkel was sick at the end of 2007 and didnt start in a few races so she is still trying to improve her results . Wilhelm likes pursuits and always has good results in them .

Svetlana Sleptsova vs Helena Jonsson

My pick is Svetlana Sleptsova to finish ahead of Helena Jonsson

5 units to win 3.25 units at gamebookers

Both had no errors in the sprint however Sleptsova was 18 seconds faster than Helena Jonsson . This would mean she can make 1 error more than Jonsson plus I think Svetlana will have better running times so only chance for Jonsson to beat her would have very few errors or none at all and hope for the russian to make atleast 3 errors .

Adding my last bet for the women race. This is by far the strongest bet on the card for me .

TOP PLAY

Head to Head

Tora Berger vs Simone Denkinger

My pick is Tora Berger to finish ahead of Simone Denkinger

20 units to win 12 units at gamebookers

Bookies gotta be insane to make a h2h like this one . Berger loves races like this and she already won a pursuit this season , she also won a sprint 2 weeks ago . Denkinger very shaky when it comes to shooting and makes many more errors than Tora Berger , especially today when they have to shoot 4 times . They have pretty equal running times so it will come down to shooting and Berger is few levels higher than her opponent in that department . Simone was running for Germany in the relay 4 days ago and she had to run 2 penalty loops in standing position which means she made 5 errors just standing ! Tora Berger had no errors in the relay for Norway and finished very strong . Actually they were running against each other because both of them were starters for their teams and Berger was more than 1 minute ahead of Denkinger at the exchange .

Good morning, Brainiac.
Agree with all of your picks, but I think you got sth wrong there about Henkel - she wasn't that ill, it was Glagow. Henkel might have been a little bit sick but nothing to be too much worried about - her running results have been quite good while you could definitely see the effects of illness for Glagow. Still, I think your bet on Wilhelm will get through. Could add Iourieva over Glagow - 10sec ahead, should be better on the track due to mentioned health problems and russian girl is a good shooter, too...
Berger over Denkinger really sounds like a gift regarding the struggling of Denkinger as of late.

ps: weather conditions - forecast says slightly sub zero Celsius, no snow/rain, hardly wind, but fog possible (which should only be a problem if it is no constant factor that affects all athletes the same);

i am not decided yet, but like to discuss some matchups.
Brainiac, you have a couple other matchups available as i play mainly with pinny, but same as cobalt i like the Berger bet, but not the wilhelm/henkel bet.
i actuall regard wilhelm with a top chance to win today, but i like her much more in a matchup with Sleptsova.
No doubt she is faster in the track. also wilhelm is just 21 sec back (sleptsova had 0 errors to wilhelm 2), which is about a extra lap...over the long distance i think Wilhelm can afford about 2 more errors than slepsova. the little head start for sleptsova gives us great odd here.

what is your opinion on Iourieva? she is heavy fav over Glagow and i am thinking of taking Glagow (just for the value). they finished almost on same time yesterday with both going 0 in shooting. i know Glagow is not in top form in the track, but she is stating that she is almost 100 % back from pre-x-mas illness...in the end Iourieva was also not faster yesterday and Glagow is the WC-leader, so why do i get 2.3????

Damn, you're right chriscol, I just saw that I checked the wrong line - I thought Iourieva had 1 error, but she had 0 like Glagow.
The longer I look at the sprint results, the more I think it's difficult to say who is in good/bad form, who is in hard training towards World Championships (Olofsson?) and who just had bad ski material (norwegian men?)....
Don't know what to think of Sleptsova atm.

Ok, let's go - Tora, Tora, Tora!
