Nuggets +7 (-105), 2*
Hawks/Heat over 222 (-110), 2*
Hawks +7 (-110), 2*

I think the Hawks team will step up in Trae’s absence. I have discussed before how players elevate in one game situations like this when their star player is out and they know they will get more opportunities. Denver is coming off a National TV loss to Philly. They have a chance to end the Celtics perfect home record and reestablish themselves in front of a big audience. I don’t know if they get it done, but I can’t pass up taking 7 with the Nuggets.

I might add Portland later. Another angle I like is betting against teams the first game after they acquire a star. It is similar to betting against a team who is getting a star player back from a lengthy injury. It takes time to get acclimated. With Siakam making his debut and Haliburton returning for Indiana, it makes me want to bet Portland. Despite how bad they are. I will let you know on that. GL

Spurs +2.5 (-110), 2*

Wemby is back tonight for the Spurs. If the Wizards are a favorite against a team who is trying, I will happily bet the dog.

I like Anthony Edwards over 27.5 points as well. Not an official play because I don’t really post my props anymore. I give out everything else which is enough work. He only took ten shots last game. I think he goes off against Charlotte. GL

I am adjusting my number system when I post a bet, just so it makes more sense. It doesn’t make sense to have a 2* bet equal one unit. And a 3* bet equal 2 units. I am converting the one unit bets to 1*. And the 2 unit bets or top plays to 2*. It also makes my plus or minus units read as they really are as opposed to having to divide the number by two. I would have been +60.04 using the old system, so I divide that by two and get 30.02. The bottom line is I want to make it easier to follow. It is already this way in the college basketball forum and I will be switching it over in the hockey forum as well. I’m going to leave NFL alone because there are only three games left in the season. I am having a fantastic season and hope to keep producing for myself and everyone on the forum who follows from time to time. I will probably have a bet or two later.

Spurs +8 (-112), 2*

The Thunder barely got by Portland last night. This could be a spot in the season where they are sleepwalking a bit. It happens to pretty much every good team over and 82 game season. It’s not like you really get up to be in San Antonio and play the Spurs, despite them having Wemby. Speaking of Wemby, I don’t see any reason why he would not play tonight. The Spurs didn’t play yesterday and don’t play tomorrow.

By the way, that Lakers loss was tough last night for those of you who tailed. Powell layup with about 20 seconds left made it an 11 point deficit. Lakers reserves didn’t generate anything on the other end. There will always be losses, you just move onto the next day. And maybe vent a little lol. GL

Bucks -6.5 (-110), 1*
Warriors -6 (-112), 1*

Playing the double team boost angle tonight. Bucks first game with a new head coach. Warriors first game since their coach passed away. GL

I wish I checked this forum again last night. It was supposed to be a 1*, I just had a typo. My mistake. I did the same thing at the beginning of the college hoops season a couple times while I was getting used to the change. In the future, I will always have a little write-up about the game if it is a 2 unit bet. The good news is that even if anyone put 2 units on that game, they still broke even with the other two bets cashing.

Nets +3.5 (-105), 1*
Kings -2 (-110), 1*

I would like some injury clarity in the Heat game before I make a bet there. I am also considering the Wizards, despite how bad they are. They covered for me on the second of a back to back against Denver over the weekend. They are home again tonight just like they were in that spot against Denver, which obviously helps when you can eliminate travel. Utah seems to be coming back to earth. After winning nine of ten, they have lost three straight. I want to make sure Washington isn’t resting any of their better players. I also don’t think people are going to want to bet Washington in general, at least enough to significantly move the line if I wait. I will update once we know who is playing in these games. GL

I know the Heat played last night and are down Jaquez and Love. The Heat always play Boston tough, whether it’s the regular season or postseason. They are similar to the Knicks in that regard. Nobody wants to bet Miami today because of the reasons I mentioned and the Celtics being fully healthy. I think Miami gets up for this game and at least has the game close with a few minutes left. Looked like we were on our way to a split or at least a push in the Kings game. Unfortunately, Kevin Huerter missed two free throws with the Kings up one and that was that. He has sucked this year, by the way.
