is standing at home plate when you hit a deep fly ball smart? come on lander. you can't seriously think that posing like bonds does or hopping like sosa does is anything but showboating at best. you just like to argue.

Blue, why is admiring a HR bad, but nothing is said about Manning flapping his chicken bone arms around like, well, a chicken after a deep strinke to Harrison?

Bonds' number are simply off the chart, yet the majority of the Bonds posts are petty knocks against him ... why do you suppose that is? Why, in the same thread, we often hear about how great Bambino was? Wasn't he a fatso? I think the fact that he let himself get so grossly out of shape & therefore preventing his fat butt from ever beating out a grounder shows more laziness than Bonds admiring a magestic shot into the bay.

Aside from the waist line, there is one other striking difference -- can you guess what that is?

Do some of you guys realize how ridiculous your posts are ? Let me see now... Bonds should have hung up his cleats 5 years ago. What in the world has this lazy **^*&**** done in those 5 years ?? Oh Yeah, He has hit 257 home runs in that time and won 3 MVP's and 2 batting crowns and had the highest slugging percentage in history and hit 73 home runs in 1 season and Oh Yeah, He is setting the obp record this year as well as the all time walk record and ops of 1.446 ! However, He is well off the all time slugging record as He's only at .834 ! This guy has got to learn to pick it up a little ! What are you guys smoking ?? I will have to get some of that stuff !! lol

Bonds matched a career high 5 walks today (3 intentional) going 0 for 0 as the Giants won a big game over the Dodgers 9-5.

Wil,
Blue said that Bonds stats only count 3/5ths, so please edit your post to reflect the adjusted BB total to 3 (1.8 intentional).

Thanks.

Rob, thats the dumbest thing you've ever said here...Manny is a better defensive play than Barry LMFAO!

I have seen more games in my life than I care to admit...Bonds is top two I have ever seen....He is one of, if not THE the most versatile baseball player in MLB history..oh by the way 5 walks today LMFAO... Its not even funny this thread...anyone who thinks Bonds isn't the greatest ballplayer the past 80 years is blind...

And lets not forget Barry is a 500+lifetime stolen base man....He may end up with 500 SB/800 HR , you just don't do this...just for kicks he's winning another batting title over the age of 40, while walking 225 times....Are you kidding me....McFly, hello, McFly???

you're correct lander...i must be a racist since i want barry bonds to run when he hits the ball rather than stand ther posing like an arrogant ass. to call him out for a lack of hustle, especially when he stands there admiring a home run that hits the wall rather than sailing into the bay is the same as burning a cross in his front lawn.:neenee:

manny skied i mean skied i believe wil posted the pic here last friday at yankee stadium and robbed a home run that would have been the go ahead for the yankees. it turned out to be the play of the game.

i would like to see bonds leap just half an inch for a ball i would probably drop my jaw in amazement. of course barry was a terrefic defensive player like 5-6 years ago definatly one of the best i already said something to the effect of that. stop trying to twist my words and talk about the past and all this other crap. who gives a crap how good he used to be?! it means nothing at all when he takes the field in 2004. not a damn thing. name one outfielder that bonds is better than. just one. you cant. he is a liability out on the field. and that is the point of what im saying.

'who gives a crap how good he used to be'...Rob, this just in , Bonds is still pretty good....in fact he is so good still he just may win another MVP, and a Batting Title....Seriously , your way off here, and I just don't get your rationale...of course he's not the 9 time Gold Glover he once was....

in barrys prime in the bonilla days he was the best. the ultimate weapon. argueably the greatest ever.

in 2004, i have seen barry walk half to first then decide to fast jog when if he just 'fast jogged' the whole way he would have been safe at first.

ive seen him casually plod over to balls in the OF and screw up trying to bare hand it on a bounce and watch two unearned to come in.

ive seen him have balls just go over his reach for a home run that anyone else could have caught except him.

those three things right there disgust me. i can live with the "im not a media guy stuff" im even willing to look past the balco accusations.

but those things i talk about above dont get overcome by "he hits it high! he hits it deep! into mcovery cove!" we love the longball bullcrap.

he will get MVP becuase most fans including the writers love the long ball.

when he is on first, tell me how many steps can he take off the bag? see things like that. .i like all aspects of baseball journey, not just home runs and batting average, i see the whole package with this guy in 2004 and im not impressed.

i repsect your opinion as always, i take it serious and i know what you're saying about his offense and the fact he provides more offense than just about anyone and does it singlehandedly in a mediocre lineup yes that is amazing stuff. hard to believe in fact. i just think those other things hurt a team too much to deserve MVP but so be it.

Rob, I will be honest, I don't get to see Barry play regularly...I would be curious what someone like OldManTed has to say, because he sees Bonds daily....will you be having french toast or cereal for NFL Sunday?

Thanks

Blue,
You know I'm just busting YOUR chops, but I have little doubt that my statements ring true for Mullins. You are an objective man, Mullins is a hate-filled racist.

Guys Like Barry Bonds (and Stuart Scott, For That Matter) Have A Huge Negative Impact On Young African-american Kids. I Preach To The People In My Neighborhood To Admire Guys Like Alan Keyes And Lynn Swann And Jc Watts. Classy, Articulate Guys Who Work Hard And Don't Ask Anyone For Any Handouts. I Dont Mind Speaking Out Against Popular Blacks. That Doesnt Make Me A Hate-filled Racist.

Tommy,
For someone who pretends to know all about Bonds, You haven't a clue ! Barry Bonds gives a lot of his time and Millions of $$ to under privileged children. He founded the Bonds family foundation for children . He was named the 1999 winner of the Philanthropist of the year by the National conference of black philanthropy ! Bonds founded the Bonds private school scholarship fund for children. After 911, He donated $ 10,000 to victims of 911 per every home run He hit.
I guess He should join the scores of others celebrities who get duii's, domestic violence, rapes, murders, drugs deals etc etc. Then maybe He will become one of the guys !
Go Bonds and keep up the good work both on and off the field.

Kermit your 100% correct. Sad thing is I also remember the media flaming the *CENSOR**CENSOR**CENSOR**CENSOR* out of him for the 911 thing, they thought it was self promoting and selfish. Strange how some of the players followed suit by donating doing the same thing.

Typical media the headline on the box score from yesterday "Who needs Bonds? Feliz Slam buries Dodgers" Yeah right and where does Feliz Bat? Right in front of Bonds ofcourse. What were they going to do walk Feliz and pitch to Barry?

Dicky,
You are so right on both counts. I vividly recalled the media blasting Bond's gestures to the victims of 911 insinuating that Bonds was doing this only because He expected some of the pitchers would pitch him gopher balls ! How utterly absurb ! One can easily understand why Bonds doesn't spend too much of his time flirting with the media.
On your other point, yes the person batting in front of Barry Bonds always get great pitches to hit. Remember that Jeff Kent won his only MVP batting in front of Bonds. Kent hasn't even come close to equaling his MVP stats since He left Giants.

Kermit I Can Tell You Are Not Very Smart. None Of My Posts Say Anything Remotely Close To The Fact That I Know Everything Or Even A Lot About Bonds. My Posts Say He Is Lazy And I Wish He Would Hustle On Every Play. Why Did You Read Into The Post And Say I Wrote Things I Didnt? Tell Me The Truth About This. Was It An Honest Mistake? Are You Just Bored? Stupid? Trying To Cause Problems? Retarded?
