Nothing is happening until at least 2022 and probably 2024 when the granting of rights expires. All of this expansion talk is due to the dead season and nothing else having to be talked about. Even Boren can't bring 2 teams to the table that would add more money into the BIG XII's program's pockets instead of taking away. All this talk is silly. Silly season talk.

I was curious what you had to say. Hearing discontent in soonerland, reminds me of nebraska 2010. I pegged this summer as the last chance for the next conference expansion (big ten contract inspired) for a few years. At this point Id be surprised, but when it goes bad, it's all pretty fast.
I wish I knew what Boren's game was. It's always my hope that he wants to get out, and he's playing the long game and waiting for the right time to leave. But if OU goes, it's anybody's guess where they would land. There is usually just 2 reasons a school leaves a conference. Either they are in financial desperation like Colorado or Maryland. Or it's about education. Boren has always been about education, so you would think the Big 10 or Pac-12 would be at the top of his list. But if you polled the OU fans, I suspect that the SEC would narrowly win out. Problem is Boren isn't a football guy, so I don't really think he cares what the fans think.

So Boren is whistling differently because they appeased him on the Mayfield issue or......? Is it true that the meetings got heated Thursday? I heard that an ultimatum was put down.

UT OU is on FS1. Not really a big deal. It used to be on CBS in the early 80's. Now the big deal would be if they push for an evening kick.

David Boren has had a 180-degree turnaround. Big 12 Network is dead. Longhorn Network alive and well. Texas a huge winner here.

GS, the only way OU could get into the BIG TEN or PAC 12 is to be invited to join the AAU. Association of American Universities. Both conferences require it. It's a fairly hoity toity educational society. It was a big reason why realignment ended up the way it did. I've hear OU is a year or two from being given the designation. At that time then they'd be eligible for more options.

OU/Texas, just like this conference, has been on the back burner for years. I'll be surprised if it's anything other than an 11:am start...

The only reason the Big 12 Network is dead is because Fox and ESPN are bleeding money. Otherwise if I was the Big 12 commissioner I would suggest they go ahead and start a network with the 9 teams minus Texas. And show Texas only against conference teams. Nobody cares how big of a winner Texas is with TLN. The only people who care about that is Texas.

Looks like they're bringing back the Big 12 Championship Game in 2017..Now all they need to do is have it played at Darrell Royal Stadium in Austin and we can officially say they've gone into full retard mode...Automatic rematch each year..Stupid as fuk! To give you an idea how ignorant this is, last year OU and OSU would have played each other back to back at the end of the season if the CG had been in place..

Big 12 unanimously votes to bring back conference title game in 2017

IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference unanimously voted Friday to bring back a conference championship game.
The conference will implement a championship game for 2017.
Since contracting to 10 members in 2011, the Big 12 has staged a round-robin format and has been the only Power 5 league without a championship game. As a result, the Big 12 has also been the only Power 5 league that hasn't given its champion the opportunity to play a 13th game.
EDITOR'S PICKS

Data consultants hired by the league have argued that the Big 12's current format has diminished its opportunity of putting a team in the College Football Playoff.
The league failed to make the playoff in 2014, although Oklahoma did make the CFP last year despite not playing on the final weekend of the regular season.
Oklahoma president and Big 12 board chair David Boren said the data showing that a championship game would help the Big 12 get into the playoff "was very convincing."
"We were unified about it, based on what it would do for our competitive position and what it would do to our financial position," said Boren, who has been the biggest advocate in the league for a championship game.
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said a championship game could net the league an additional $27-28 million in revenue a year.
The league distributed $304 million to its members last year, or $30.4 million to each member, roughly a 20 percent hike from last year.
Boren said the Big 12 will continue to examine the merits of expansion and that the league's presidents could meet again later in the summer to discuss in person further.
"We will continue to seriously look at that possibility," Boren said.

The TLN is alive but is it really well? It was a necessary loss to keep the Big 12 together. So congrats to UT for being itself and gaming the system to bleed ESPN with a worthless product. It's like having a successful product and finding a way to sell your waste for a profit to boot. Admittedly, Ive never seen the TLN, but I hear it's cut content. So much for the branding that they claim is so important.

I can't believe they agreed to the champ game GS. Stoops was adamantly against it as anyone yet Boren pushed for it harder than anyone. What a stupid decision. Will backfire big time

We agree on Boren. He is an asshat who has never made a right decision when it comes to the OU football program or the Big 12.

I didn't realize Boren was this far off kilter until recently. It shows how damned good Joe Castiglione is, to be able to keep the athletics department on the rails as good and as long as he has considering Boren is so loose.

This decision will backfire with certainty. To have a round robin league and then have to play a team AGAIN is just asinine. Everyone knows having to beat a team twice in a season is very difficult. Did they think of how much this game will actually COST the league money by keeping a team out of the playoff as opposed to how much money the championship game would bring into the league? Stupid assholes.

The Big 12 title game has a history of eating National Championship hopes. There's an odd mojo there. Now you round robin and CCG. It's almost like they want to fail. Same ol'.

Boren has been "off kilter" since the Pac-12 debacle a few years ago. Leading up to Boren opening his big mouth about leaving the conference (something he never intended to do) and then scaring off Missouri. It's time for him to either stay out of this whole mess or step down like DeLoss Dodds did, and let the younger guys take over who at least probably have a few new ideas...

Now the question is where do they play this stupid game? The old Kansas City/Jerry's World rotation or do they go Pac-12 style and play it at the home of the team with the best record?

Looks like Grobe is going to retain all of his assistant coaches (for now). "We will run the same offense and defense that we've been running. We need to meet with our 2016 recruits and emphasize that to them." My question is are they going to continue to lie to recruits and tell them the assistants will be there past this year? I think the key word here is '2016.' The new AD is going to come in and hire his own coach. And that coach will bring in an entire new staff in 2017. There's no way they could have pulled a new staff together in June anyway. But this still looks like a dead season for Baylor. No way Briles, Bennett and company are going forward with this program. I guarantee you half of those dudes time this season will be spent looking for other gigs...I don't see them putting a lot of thought and care into the Baylor program. Especially with players leaving right and left, and no future for them there...

I think it's a given it will be under that giant screen tv. Quite frankly a lot of fans didn't like the cold of KC in December and playing at the home game keeps the possibility of a north game....well, Manhattan, at least (not sure what Morgantown is like, but we all know Ames and Lawrence won't be hosting any title game).
