BetOnSports (BOS) Issue

LT, we DO hear complaints abut Oly and Cris, as both are absolute shit 50% of the year (baseball season).

Bud, you might be right but that is only ONE sport. From what I hear the issue is these 2 books have 20 cent lines. I have heard NOTHING about cutting off steam players or profiling. And 95% of the players have NO interest what so ever in baseball. These posters are mainly interested in football and basketball. You can play at BOS and I will stick with the 4 that I mentioned earlier. LT

This is classic. I called Jamie because Wil told me he wanted to talk to me. Seemed like a nice guy and basically said they decided to close my account. Wasn't happy about it, be not that big of a deal. We confirm my balance, all was well. Then he told me it would be sent first thing Monday morning... needless to say I wasn't too thrilled with that being that it is Saturday and not only will I not have access to those funds to bet with there but I won't be able to use that money anywhere else either. He seemed to imply that nobody was there to take care of it until then. Luckily it isnt a huge amount of money.

Wow, they must have really disliked my action. I just added up my totals at BOS this season. I'm down over $5000 there this year. The only other time I played there was last football season for a couple weeks and won $1810. Still down over $3000 total.

BOS is a sh*t book and would never play there. I hope any newbies that see this thread will realize that there are many other great books that cater to winners and losers and have no problem w/ what you bet....JMO

if i went the 100 k max bet - and the line moves against them they just say sorry no dice - even up to after the game starts

that would not be nice checking your account the next day.

there needs to be a rule somewhere on their site that stipulates the rule here - and not call us on the phone and we will decide then or after the event.

On a lighter note a few thoughts about these threads..

Tatehill what took you so long, the thread wasn't complete until you and Max Demo showed up...

Going out on a limb a little here..:drink:

I don't think books like BOS really mind these threads anymore - basically it is the usual posters bashing them and at some point the whole thing is actually so redundant that it makes for more brand recognition. I think it is harder on me than it is on the actual books involved...

I can't think of another business in the world quite like the sports gambling forum world. The customers (posters) get to say how terrible the sponsers are but they keep comming back. I know in the past this kind of thread was really a thing that caused management to worry but that is not really the case anymore - contrary to popular belief there has been no censorship in these threads here at the Rx. in a long time. In a real sense they do serve sort of Darwinian style process that I believe makes books better for the players - which has to be a good thing.

On the other hand The Rx. tries to be as gererous as possible to it's posters but it becomes harder to approach a sponser that has been continually bashed day in and day out and ask it to donate some contest or giveaway money (much less re-up and keep the site afloat). Luckily many are getting accustomed to this kind of thread.

So the process itself while making the overall offshore enviornment better for the player actually makes it harder for the vehicle (the forums) that create that precess to survive.

I just got off the phone with Jamie Owen at BOS and he assures me no wagers will be cancelled unless they are at an obvious bad line (Eg. Yanks +300 when should be Yanks -300). Players that are identified as steam players over a period of time by risk management will be refunded balances after all pending wagers are graded (futures will also be honored). This is not new policy at BOS and has been in place for a long time. Many other books do the very same thing.

I think the line manager last night used unfortunate terminology when he said he would cancel wagers deemed to be steam. Bottom line is NO WAGERS will be cancelled after they have been made (at fair prices) unless the player himself asks for the bet to be cancelled. As far as that goes: players cannot cancel wagers at will - BOS will work with clients who make mistakes and try to cancel a wager placed in error. I know this depends on what happend to the line in the meantime.

now you speak to jamie after the fact and he makes a business decision which is the right one and probably industry standard

but thats not what the player got or he wouldnt have posted the thread

but some of them cant cut it quite frankly and bos was one i was saving for c football but now i wont deal with them (they prob dont care anyway- no big deal)

My point is in the end no bets would have been cancelled after the fact. I really wish line managers wouldn't even have these kind of discussions with players as they usually end up unpleasant. There is a natrual adversarial process that exists between bettor and bookmaker that doesn't make for friendly conversations all the time.

I am certain had an actual bet made by Ladeda been cancelled it could have been resolved by cooler heads.

As it stands now I have confidence that no future bets will be cancelled under these same circumstances mentioned above.

Summing it up

1. BOS employee doesn't know industry standards and their own company policies on wager cancellation.

2. Employee resorts to threatening a customer (more than once) with wager cancellation instead of adjusting prices and limits to manage risk.

3. A supervisor intervenes, and after reassuring the customer that in fact they wont cancel his wagers and that the other employee made a mistake, rewards the player for his inconvenience by kicking him out.

4. As a sign of ultimate respect, the company makes the player wait two extra days for his money.

If these guys are making money hand over fist with this level of customer service, how does anyone LOSE money in this industry?
