Wow, I would have never guessed we would make it to page 2.....

I am looking at a zero turn with a 62" deck. z465 I believe. To mow 5 acres in Florida so it is all flat.

Sales guy told me the price is the price and there is no negotiating at John Deere dealerships. I don't believe that bullshit.

If not John Deere, then who? Zero turn with big deck is a must. I do not like mowing and want that shit done quick!

Would go with husqvarna or dixie chopper. Ariens not bad either

If I were you I'd try the used market. You'dbe surprised how many "city slickers" buy one thinking they need it for their property, and then hire a landscaping guy to do the real work. They put theirs on the market and it's hardly been used.

for the acreage you are mowing you dont really need to spend that much money. 5 acres of flat, id got to lowes/home depot and spend 3k on a 46" and be done with it. 3 hrs max and youre done

Truthfully, in the long run it's likely cheaper to have it mowed every 2 weeks by some Mexicans.

That is a great idea.

That same city slicker who did zero maintenance and didn't even know how to operate the thing or beat the shit out of it? Or the city slicker who bought a lemon or an undersized mower and wants to upgrade?

Terrible idea unless there is a transferable warranty.

Pretty true dat.

AceDeuceTrey, most of my colleagues up here in Pinellas County like the Dixie Chopper.

My own mowing is down to about eight hours a week single family homes and Husqvarna makes a nice AllWheelDrive for about $350 at Lowes.

My advertising is aggressive and I process about 45 fresh leads weekly for residential lawn/garden so these days I network everything else out to a couple younger operators and get paid for the bookings. (Also process about 20 leads a week for tree service & pressure washing). My physical life is much improved.

One of them uses a 36" Warner which can stand or sit...The other just upgraded to a 42" something.....heh

I will ask her and repost to this thread

Always looking to expand or sit someone up with the knowledge. We have built one pond in Florida for a client from Indiana's 2nd home. Was near Kissimmee...can't remember the development.

Thanks for the input gentleman! I am not sure what I am going to do now. Luckily I will have some time to figure it out as the grass wont be growing crazy fast right now and there is a running (on its last legs though) craftsman with a 42" deck coming with the house. In the summer though when it is 95 degrees and mosquitoes everywhere, I am not going to want to spend 4 hours mowing every week.

I am all for the Mexicans, just not sure if they will be feasible where this place is located. We are talking county! After 5 years in the suburbs of St. Louis, I can not wait to get back to Florida and the country life!!
