Be honest, who was the player you thought was a 'can`t miss' and turned out to be a lemon?

shawon dunston was supposed to be ernie banks. jason bere was unhittable in 1993. mediocre is a big dissappointment.

tell me one opinion you have about professional sports that is not influenced by the media in some way. unless you are personally scouting high school players in the dominican republic, you are relying on information from another source.

Chris Simms & Jason White..call it a hunch

Danny Manning(not quite a lemon, but a bust for where appraised in draft), CSF All-World Kotsay(attempting turnaround), Christian Laettner(pro game too strong and fast for him), Brian Taylor(cost more than Jeter outta HS), Chris Jackson(never D'ed up, but then suddenly couldn't shoot straight in the end), Hugh Green(man amongst boys at Pitt, yet Panther bookend Jackson of Saints fame became better pro), Sam Bowie & Ralph Sampson(not lemons, but injured wheels cut careers short), Drew Bledsoe(started ok, then slid), Kijana Carter(looked like Earl Campbell as a collegian, but couldn't bolt nor shed tackles as a pro),Dr.Dunkenstein Darrell Griffith(despite size limitations appeared better than pro results), Kendell Gill(Flyin' Illini never got off tarmac as pro), Tyrell Biggs(took a good picture, but bust).

Dare I add Mike Tyson, as though he thrashed all for 3 years('86-'89), yet faced a weak field of heavyweights then, and though I think the Tyson of those 3 to 4 years may have fared better than his latter self, he was upset first(none saw it coming, except that Vegas physician that made a large play on Douglas), then he was beaten in the three biggest fights of his career soundly(and I was against him in all 3)..in the end he was a supernova, one that in hindsight beat only a few legend's sons, has-beens, pretenders, & women!

Miaplus3, imho, Bo falls into that category that befell Bowie and Sampson(injured), as he like those two others played at a high level(even if not the level expected) before being cut short.

Andre Patterson, Charlie Miller, Jason Collier, Luke Recker to a lesser extent

These were all top 10 IU recruits, well Miller was more like 15-20. Miller and Patterson were in teh same class and were major busts.

Blue,

The only media I use is for injurys and thats not even very reliable. In football it gets so bad I have the mute button on at all times.

I disagree with 98% of the things I hear. The media is not allowed to tell the truth. People that tell the truth get fired immediatley. Most of the media believe their own lies.

Everthing Peter Gammons says is complete nonsense. Everything you hear on espn is complete nonsense. Everything Curtis Strange says is complete nonsense. Everything Patrick Mcenore says is complete nonsense.

ESPN radio is full of guys that know nothing.

Ok, the guy "me me me" thought was a can't miss...Michael Bishop. The guy had an arm like Mike Vick and the same escapability. I thought all he needed was a little pro coaching and boom, he would be quite a player. Only thing I ever saw out of him is the Pats brought him out one time at the end of a half and had him throw a hail mary. The guy's arm was still there, a gorgeous 65 yard pass a la Kordell Stewart with CU in Ann Arbor. Pats catch it and score going into the half. The guy never got anything beyond that though. Because of Bishop I thought Vick might be something of a bust too, but obviously that theory went out the window.

FOOTBALL: Marcus Dupree, dude went for 200 yards plus in a bowl while at Oklahoma and I believe he was only a sophmore at the time.

Baseball: Brien Taylor (His rookie cards were priceless - and now they are worthless)

Hockey: Agree on Alexandre Daigle (He was supposed to be the next Mario)

Pro Hoops: Stacey King (Had it ALL @ Oklahoma then turned pro and couldn't do sh*t!)

College Hoops: Schea Cotton (he went to Mater Dei - which in So Cal is as good as it gets - and he was a stud at MD - then went downhill FAST in college)

NFL: Koren Robinson (this guy was THE MAN at NC State - but in the NFL has been a BIG disappointment - just ask anyone who has had him on their fantasy team - DOGGO!)
