AFC South
What an awesome division is lol predictably the Colts and Titans will be battling for the division, and the Jags and Texans will....not. I do think Jacksonville has a chance to be plucky and feisty, but don't think it'll have playoff implication or anything like that. The AFC is too deep, and the Jags are too not good
Houston Texans OVER 4.5 (+100)
Going through the roster is a pretty painful exercise here. We know they're not very good, and we know they aren't trying to be particularly good. I do kind of like Mills, and I like their coach...so that may be enough to think they are not going to be the absolute bottom of the league.
With a number this low, it's a better exercise to look and see if you can find 5 wins. I think they're going to have their chances: Jags twice, NFC East, and their cross-conference game is the Bears. I think if they can pull off a decent upset at home somewhere in there (maybe Browns at home?), they may not need to have a game like the one they had against the Chargers last year. I think they can muster out 5 wins this year
Indianapolis Colts UNDER 10 (-115)
These guys are in the mix for the most overrated team in the NFL. One injury to Jonathan Taylor and their season is done. Their defense is remarkably overrated, they're not very well-coached, and are we sure Matt Ryan is an upgrade over Carson Wentz? You could make an argument for the opposite. Their receiving corp sucks, their O-line is solid but again overrated. I don't get the love affair with this team. This feels like a non-playoff team to meThey open with Texans and Jags on the road; looks good on paper, but we all know they're losing at least one of those games. The saving grace scheduling wise is they get the NFC East, and frankly their schedule is fairly nice. Maybe that explains 10. But in a deep conference and with a better team in the division, 10 feels high. They will be a fan favorite to bet the over on and to cover games throughout the season -- good for the books!
Jacksonville Jaguars UNDER 6.5 (-120)
This one should be close to the number, though I lean under. I actually think there's a lot to like on the defensive end -- they're gonna be sneaky decent on that side of the ball. They have some better weapons as well, but their line is kind of a joke. And contrary to what draft experts told you a couple years ago, Trevor Lawrence isn't that good -- and won't ever be that good. His physical attributes are not as great as advertised, he is really slow at processing defenses, which sucks when your offensive line can block a fence post. Getting to 7 wins would be quite a climb for a team devoid of talent at key positions like this one, but maybe they get at least coach because of a softer schedule.
Tennessee Titans OVER 9 (-105)
We will get our opportunity to laugh at this team in the playoffs again, probably in the form of losing a home playoff game -- in the wild card round this time. Maybe we will get that opportunity on the same day we can laugh at the Packers' home loss as well again. But they are the best team in the division, which isn't saying much. The brights might be too light for Tannehill when it matters most, but when has a healthy Derrick Henry and the line is playing well, he is good enough to make this team the favorite. I really love with this team has to offer on defense, especially up front. In the playoff game, they were able to sack the future GOAT nine times despite the loss. I think they are gonna have field days against weak NFC East teams and within their own division. This team should get double digit wins again.
