I took a look.......... Seems as though most of the girls don't subscribe and are depending on the guys to do so in order to make contact since one has to be a payine member. Does that sound about right?
Yes. The girls who do subscribe are often quite unattractive. However, the girls may send and receive messages to paying members so the guy doesn't have to be the initiator.
I assume after you begin talking to one you as to see her on a webcam or something to lessen the chance that it's a scam? I suppose if that is the case they will lose interest after a while if they can't get you over there quick enough.......
Yes, via Skype or MSN.
And how do you go about determining which ones may be somewhat legit, but are just trying to get you over there to rob you or even worse?
The ones who are over-eager would throw up a red flag. Most "good" Thai girls don't seem to be very aggressive at all, and it's the man who has to be the pursuer. That's my impression anyway. Keep in mind my experience with "good" Thai girls is extremely limited.
I actually did have something weird happen. Kind of a long story, but here we go.
I am very specific in my profile in that I am looking for a girl from Bangkok. So when I get a message, "interest" sent to me, or a chat window pops up, I check their profile to see where they are from. Almost all the time, I ignore them if they are not from BKK. However, one time a very cute Issan girl opened up a chat window with me. After I looked at her profile really quick I started talking to her. We chatted for over an hour and I asked her if she had a Facebook account and we added each other as friends. Per her TLL profile she was single and didn't have any children.
So I started checking out all her pictures and everything looked cool. Nice pictures of her with her friends on a bus trip to Cambodia, some pics from SongKron, etc. At this point, I suspected nothing until I saw several pictures of her with a baby. No big deal, though. So far. So after looking through her pictures, I went to her profile page, and then I see that she had changed her relationship status from Married to Single several minutes before she sent me the Friend Request. With this knowledge and through some deductions I made based on her pictures I guessed who she may be married to so I went to his Facebook page, which did not have any security settings, and found several pictures of them together and this:
I was doing all this while we were exchanging messages as by this time our chat had migrated to messaging via Facebook. Then I asked her if she had a baby and husband. She said she had baby but no husband. Then I posted the above picture, and within 30 seconds I was Unfriended and blocked. I then went back to her husband's profile and the Married status was changed to single and the post was deleted off the profile page.
I had forgotten all about it, then a few days ago, I get an email from quepasa.com which seems to be a Spanish/Portugese version of Tagged that said that Sujittra Panyasawat (a very Thai name, but different than the one on Facebook) had requested to add me as a friend. I go check out the profile and it's her picture.
I'm not really sure if she was trying to set me up to scam me or she was cheating on her husband, but it was weird all the way around.
