Child with lighter started fire at Tyreek Hill's home.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A fire at the $6.9 million home owned by Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill was started by a child playing with a cigarette lighter in a bedroom, a fire official said Thursday.
"It was an accidental fire," Davie (Florida) Fire Marshal Robert Taylor told The Associated Press.
Taylor did not provide the age of the child or the amount of damage caused by the fire. He said the investigation is now closed.
The house is located in the town of Southwest Ranches, which is about 30 miles northwest of Miami, and was purchased by Hill in May 2022 shortly after the Kansas City Chiefs traded him to the Dolphins.
Miami television station WSVN showed a large amount of black smoke coming from the roof as firefighters doused the house with water. Firefighters appeared to be working on the highest parts of the structure. Many of the bedrooms, a home theater and a den were among the rooms upstairs, according to the property listing.
Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told reporters gathered outside the house Wednesday that some family members were home at the time of the fire.
"He and his family are safe," Rosenhaus said. "No one was injured, No. 1, no pets, so for that, we're very grateful. We're very grateful to the firefighters that put the fire out. Thankfully, the fire was contained to a limited area in the home. Obviously, there'll be some smoke and water damage. It's very difficult for anybody, obviously, to have your home catch on fire, but Tyreek was handling it, he and his family, with as much poise as you could hope."
Hill has not yet commented on the matter and was not at Dolphins practice Thursday.
Hill is currently the NFL's leader in receiving yards with 1,717. He is the only player in NFL history to record at least 1,700 yards in multiple seasons. He is hoping to help lead the Dolphins to a win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. A victory would clinch the AFC East for Miami for the first time since 2008.
Hill's teammates expressed concern and support for him.
"You don't think that it's ever going to happen to you until it does," fullback Alec Ingold said. "It's something as a team, we've got to be able to come together and make sure that we can reach out to Tyreek and be human beings with him and make sure everything is squared away and we can do everything we possibly can to help our teammate."

Think if Buffalo gets the 2, they will lose to the Chiefs in the Divisional Round

Chiefs underrated IMO

That score was flattering. Sharps were right to pound the Bills early and often the second it opened.

McDaniel looked overwhelmed and overmatched on the sidelines. No answers, even though the Bills were sloppy in the end zone (turnovers, easy dropped passes etc.)

Are the Dolphins planning on hiring an adult next season? Maybe someone who doesn't use his Xbox to prep for games, like Tyreek admitted he does?

Doesn't matter, Josh Allen will own that division for the rest of his prime, like Tom Brady did.

What an epic choke job by the "COY"! Onto KC as the #6 seed. 😂

The line opened at a very solid 3.5, now trending at 4 at some places. The weather forecast is COLD. Zero chance McDaniel beats Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

ZERO!

All I'm seeing online is Dolphins fans crying about the weather in KC and how the game should be moved when they literally purposely built a stadium that cooks the opposition's sideline in the sun all game.

KC wins tonite. Here are 2 Travis Kelce angles to remember.

1) with a KC win, KC spends another week in the postseason so the NFL and Kelce could promote the Pfizer shot.

2) Everyone thinks that Taylor Swift is satanic. Well it’s going to be BELOW freezing at this game. There is NO WAY that Satan himself could survive the cold.

the NFL is SO damn rigged it’s not even funny.

don’t even get me started the ONLY reason why the bills beat the dolphins last week was because of Demar Hamlin.

Watched an episode of Hard Knocks

Gotta say , some of the perceptions of this team appear to be true

The McDaniel/Tua dynamic is kinda odd

Have the Dolphins ever played in weather like this? Without even looking it up, I don't think so. I doubt it. Even back in the Marino days..

If you live in hot weather, your blood gets thinner so even minor temperature variances will be a shock to your system.

Holy shit is it COLD in KC - arctic temperatures!

It is one of the coldest NFL games ever

The AFC championship game last year was the coldest game I’ve ever been to. I was incredibly cold despite 4 layers, two pairs of gloves, plus stimulus of an exciting game

And yet this is going to be significantly worse than that

I remember Tennesse came to Foxboro for a Divisional playoff game in 2003 (just looked it up). It was 4 degrees. The Pats were favored by 6 in a Divisional game. The Pats won 17-14. But Tenny almost won it on the last play of the game. Both teams were way out of sorts.

I've been in below zero weather. The body doesn't function right. The mind doesn't function right. And hitting anything with frozen, brittle bones ain't fun.

The thought that Kansas City is any more conditioned for below zero weather than anyone is silly. If anything the bone rattling cold levels the playing field.

And one other thing. The cold is handled differently form player to player, and importantly from QB to QB. Who's to say that Mahomes will handle it better than Tua? He may. But he may not. I remember Brett Favre in a Playoff game in Lambeau when the Temp was around zero. By the last quarter he simply couldn't throw the ball with any accuracy. You could see that he and his hands were frozen like a popsicle out of the freezer.

Got their ass beat in BUffalo in some cold snowy games.
But in 2008 IN KC was the Dolphins coldest game ever -12 wind chill and the Dolphins won 38-31.
Of course KC was 2-12 at the time.
