Regarding the use of terms like Red Sux and other demaning names here in Offshore.

This thread was fine, with people posting their opinions from different points of view but then you get a poster like Flacapper who has to use
statements like "That video was actually of the Red Sux playoffs going bye bye". Always posting slurs and insults without ever anything to back it up. The ultimate homer on the site can only throw insults around as an argument.

Just recently posted by Flacapper:

Yeah take the over pre season blows and defenses do too.
God its pathetic how Sux fans forgetand now think Jason Bay is some God hahahah typical Boston crap.

God isnt it pathetic how Red Sux fans all of a sudden cant stand Manny?

On a sidenote

Is there anything in the CBA that allows playoff shares for Manny, etc. (from Boston).

I merged the two Manny threads - that is why one was off this forum for a few minutes

All posts are here in one thread and nothing is deleted.

My point is , have a debate about sports, gambling, even off topic materiels but do not insult each other doing so. In this case some fans feel one way about this trade while others feel another. That doesn't call for insulting their opinions. Make a case or an argument why the Red Sos messed up or The Dodgers got a steal - whatever but keep it civil or take it to the Rubber Room.

Thanks, wil.

All I have to say is, thank God Manny is no longer with the Red Sox (coming from a Yankees fan).

Should the Red Sox earn any post season money, Manny, Graig Hansen and Bendon Moss will all get a prorated share.

Something tells me Jason Bay won't be getting anything from Pittsburg, but he would if they somehow made the playoffs and earned even a first round losers share (again prorated)..

I didnt realize Boras was his agent now. No freaking wonder Manny was acting the way he did. That prick corrupted Man Ram just like he did to A-Rod when he was negotiating.

when players are traded i dont think teammates walk them to they're car. Red Sox will miss him when they exit in the 1st round.
rail is right about pedro and manny putting them on the map, and neither left on the best of terms

Yes, Boras was not making any money on Mannys' old deal as the commision was going to his old agent. Scott needs a NEW deal to start making coin from Ramirez.

Alright, that makes sense.

Been saying this for years, Scott Boras is BAD for baseball. He is far and away the most ruthless, selfish and unreasonable agent sports has ever seen. He gets into these players heads big time with his hold outs and demands. As if the players werent greedy enough on their own.

I should have started a different thread for this.

Lest we not forget Manny will have collected all $160M of his 8 year deal with the Red Sox come October 1st. Safe to say he was well compensated for putting Boston on the map. Hopefully he will put Los Angeles back on the map now that he is a Dodger.

In 2006 he was left free on unrestricted waivers and not a team claimed hm including the Yankees because no one wanted to pay him $20M a year. Next year he will be lucky to see half that, with a good portion of it in performance clauses.

well said wil...

railbird says look at the way boston treated him? from what i saw they paid him 160Million over 8years he was one of the highest paid players in the game... they have already shown they will NOT overpay for players like the NYY so they were not gonna pick up his option and HE got the hair across his ass...they had to trade him...

To break it down into more simple terms. In his 8 years in Boston Manny played in 1083 regular season games (his best was 154 in 2003) for $160M or roughly a little over $15,000 every time he played in a game. Of course he got paid when he didn't play also. That is another equation, say he was like Cal Ripken Jr. and never missed a game, he would have been able to play in 1296 games during the contract which knocks down his per game pay to roughly around $12,500 per game.

I am not sure if you are talking about me or not. For the record.

Personally I have never been a big Manny fan, sure I might have been glad to see him win a game but that was because he was playing for a team I have been rooting for since 1956. I am somewhat of a baseball purest and IMHO he broke many of the unwritten laws an old sport like baseball has.

Many is not the first to do that and certainly not the last but because of it I was never a Manny fan even in the World Series years. I am a big David Ortiz fan, yes very much so, even Nomar but I just cannot root for a guy who does not lay it on the line for his team. Call me crazy but that is how I am.

One of the reasons I am a big Tiger Woods fan is his work ethic.

I will complain about Boras being his agent to the Bitter end. I know my Manny. He is not this guy we saw this year.

A-Rod is REALLY fortunate it all worked out for him. But Manny isn't smart enough to take matters into his own hands like Alex did.
