No one expects Jason Bay to be another Manny Ramirez. The Red Sox have been very clear on that. As far as ave. with RISP goes. Bay has not been playing in Fenway Park in the middle of the order the Red Sox have had either. Last year Bay hit .247 in 538 at bats under all circumstances but .260 in 150 at bats with RISP. In 2005 he hit .346 in 153 at bats with RISP. At 29 years old he probably the best player the Red Sox could have expected to find as their new left fielder without trading a top prospect or a starting pitcher. Manny was done in Boston after the season anyway.

The real benefit is everyone involved apparently got what they wanted. The Red Sox nearly to a man wanted Manny off the team, Terry Francona can go back to being a normal manager, rather than a mind reader trying to figure out if Manny was going to play or not play on any given day. Plus Manny got his wish and out of Boston and Jason Bay is thrilled to be a Red Sox.

I am sure all The Red Sox haters are now big Manny fans and are rooting for Jason Bay to flop but only time will tell how this trade will be judged.

What should be remembered is the Red Sox really had no choice but to trade Manny because of his conduct on and off the field during the last month.

Manny lost me forever when he never took the bat off his shoulder for three staright called strikes against Mariano Rivera in Yankee Stadium with the tieing run on third and two outs in the ninth inning behind by one run last month.

There is also no doubt that Boston is a better defensive ream with Bay in leftfield instead of Manny, just like the Dodgers are weaker on defense in leftfield with Manny out there instead of Juan Pierre.

WOULD BE VERY INTERESTING IF IT WAS DODGERS BOSTON in the World Series.

EVERY KNOWLEDGABLE BOSTON FAN knows the entire offense centered around manny all year (with ORTIZ out) and when he left the RS were in the playoffs if the season ended when the trade went down.

MANNY GOT Boston where it is at, now lets see what happens.

(varitek, ortiz, crisp, ellsbury and LUGO did not)

Yankee and Ray fans can breathe aa sigh of relief Manny was clutch in all honesty. We will see with Bay.

I guess Manny was a mean to the ends when all is said and done...but every Red Sox fan should remember who carried the Red Sox to their first championships in a long, long, time....I don't condone what Manny did, but I understand the negative press that Manny has recieved in the past few weeks...

Absolutely not. Sox 3-0 since he left with Jason Bay playing himself and not Manny doing fine. The entire club is noticably better off as their play on the field indicates. Regardless where they end up this year they were never going to renew Manny's option for 2009 anyway.

Red Sox now go on the road for 12 of their next 15 games. These next two weeks should tell baseball fans a lot about where Boston will finish this year.

Personally, while I hope they make the playoffs somehow, it will not be the end of the world for me if they don't. The future is bright for the franchise now that they have made the move they should have in the offseason.

3-0 against the A's, that's nothing special. They could have traded Manny for Andruw Jones and still swept the A's. I'm not saying Bay isn't a good player, because he is, and he is a Canadian so I love seeing him do well in a big market, but the Red Sox WILL miss Manny. One of the best hitters in the league, even if he is an idiot.

MANNY GOT Boston where it is at, now lets see what happens.

How about All Stars Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, Mike Lowell, and All Star game MVP J.D. Drew. Include reserve Sean Casey hittting .360 off the bench, Jacoby Ellsbury has cooled off but was outstanding early in the season, David Ortiz is back and is always a threat.

So far Bay is 4 for 11 with six runs scored and three RBI with two run saving catches. His triple won Friday nights game as he scored both runs in a 2-1 Sox win. His three run homer on Saturday was the game winning hit in a 12 to 2 Boston rout and today Bay was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and two runs scored. He also threw out a runner trying to stretch a single during the 5-2 Sox win..

The whole team has a freah start and is playing relaxed again.

Manny left with the Sox at 61-48 - lets see where they are at the end of September when the regular season ends.

Manny leaves Fenway for last time as a Red Sox. Notice all his teamates not saying goodbye.

It's funny how Manny's knee is now doing so well in his
Dodger uniform.

He made it down the line to 1st base about three seconds faster
than last week when he was wearing the Red Sox uniform.

He's gone from one of my favorite players to someone who I think
is the biggest douche-bag in the game today, and stands for
all that is wrong with professional sports.

Randy Moss with Raiders

Randy Moss with Pats

If he is the biggest douche in the game it's only because schilling is out this year

It looks like all the guys in the video said goodbye that I saw, but I'm wondering who retrieved all those bats Manny took out of the vehicle and left behind????

From a Peter Gammons blog entry immediately after he was traded:

"Ramirez tried to sit, citing his knee. Problem is, after Felix Hernandez and Joba Chamberlain had come and gone, the Red Sox ownership and medical staff ordered him to take an MRI. If Ramirez hadn't forgotten which knee was bothering him, he would have been more convincing, but he got mixed up. Massachusetts General Hospital performed MRIs on both knees and found nothing, and the next day, ownership served Ramirez with a written notice that if he did not play, he would be suspended without pay. "
That's funny, hadn't heard that before.

I'm glad I havent been watching too closely this year. I will try and remember the old Manny, the guy who was my favorite Red Sox player.

Those are not players but clubhouse and ballpark staff. The guy carrying the dry cleaning was probably a clubhouse assistant.

As a Yankees fan what a relief it is to now see Bay up in Oct instead of Manny who always i mean always got on base when it counted.
Do you think we are worried about Jason Bay? after years of seeing Manny come tru in the clutch!! its a picnic now.
God its pathetic how Sux fans forgetand now think Jason Bay is some God hahahah typical Boston crap.

Im sure they already said their goodbyes in the clubhouse.
Did you think they would walk him to the car for a kiss?
That video was actually of the Red Sux playoffs going bye bye.

As bad as Manny was on Defense, he was their Best player. I don't see Boston doing anything without him.
