Being a lifetime Gamecock fan and following the preseason practices and interviews, I have no idea what to expect from this team. I expect the defense to be better, but not sure it could be worse. The offense is what scares me. If we can establish the run and play ball control, I think we can win. But if it turns into a track meet I don't like our chances. An earlier poster said this game is more important to North Carolina than South Carolina, well I think this is totally false. Our schedule is brutal and if we lose this game it could lead to a 5-7, 4-9, type season. I will not be betting the side but may lay a little on the under because I really think we will try and shorten the game. Good luck and let's have a great year!

1 year after losing a ton of seniors, every other year under fed the defense has been avg to solid, they were young last year they return everyone add in new coaches at virtually every position along with chiz at d cord

I think he forgot that P. Cooper could probably score on all of us by himself. The more I think about it, the more I think he may be the big difference in this ballgame. Connor Mitch has a worthy first name and all, but I just think we see lots of the Wildcat with Cooper because IMO, it will be the most effective. Hands down the best player on the Field, and the result of the game rest on his shoulders. The SC Defense should be stand up enough to keep them in most games, especially this one....
As for NC, they may just have more talent overall than SC, and even most teams they play, but they are a sloppy bunch overall with the worst tackling I've ever seen in football. Sure, Gene Chiz is now in town, and may make a difference, but I don't know just how much in one year. We shall see, but if they do, they could end up 2nd in the ACC instead of their projected 5th place finish. Although this game won't affect that outcome, it surely could boost some confidence, quickly....
All the opinions on here are great but none have any value because no one actually knows what to expect out of either team. I think Vegas has accomplished their goal because if this forum is any indication of the betting then it's about split. Being a Gamecock fan I am obviously a little biased but I could definitely see this game going either way. Our run game is gonna be the key. If we can control the clock and limit N Carolina's possessions then we have a great chance at the win. If it turns into a track meet then we're in trouble based on what little I've seen out of Connor Mitch. Good luck and thank God for football season.
