unc putting the game into the hands of their QB is pretty dumb. going for it on 4/g from the 8 was dumber. their QB is terrrrrrible
Agree SDF...but even more dumb/stupid/amateur was Spurrier going for a first on the 20 with a 17-13 lead with 9 minutes left in the game. I hate to say this...but maybe its time for the Ole Ball Coach to retire. He did everything he could to put his offense at a disadvantage. Late calls to the QB...god awful play calling...not allowing the backup QB to play more...not putting together a better run game plan. After he didn't kick that field goal that 99 out of 100 coaches would have done...I starting pulling for NC to beat them.
If I were Spurrier, I would hold Skai Moore's hand all the way back to Columbia and then kiss his ass. He saved Spurrier's ass!
And what compounded the stupidity of the 4th down play was he had 3 timeouts! What is it w/ coaches not wanting to use timeouts? The game was more or less on the line.....and he rushes his team out there and runs it up the gut.
Regardless, they won....and covered. So I'm happy. But that game could have gone either way.
Looking back through the thread there are some funny (and cocky...no pun intended) comments. Greenbacks is the best. He talked more shit in this thread than anyone. I hope he didn't put the mortgage on this.....
The QB play on both sides was hard to watch. Both teams better work those kinks out if they plan on winning many games.
All the opinions on here are great but none have any value because no one actually knows what to expect out of either team. I think Vegas has accomplished their goal because if this forum is any indication of the betting then it's about split. Being a Gamecock fan I am obviously a little biased but I could definitely see this game going either way. Our run game is gonna be the key. If we can control the clock and limit N Carolina's possessions then we have a great chance at the win. If it turns into a track meet then we're in trouble based on what little I've seen out of Connor Mitch. Good luck and thank God for football season.
To me it boils down to the two HC's. Spurrier wants to hang around for another five years or so. Nobody will tell hom when to leave. Fedora has headed downhill in his three years at UNC, winning 8, then 7, then 6 games. He is on a very warm seat, if not a hot one. Another 6-7 win season is not going to cut it. With home games against North Carolina A&T, Illinois and Deleware and Illinois, UNC has a solid chance of opening up at 4-0 if they can defeat South Carolina. Home games with Wake and Virginia should give them 6 wins before Halloween. This is just what the Doctor ordered for Fedora. The line keeps fluctuating, but one thing is for sure. South Carolina is NOT the play here. UNC or pass.
