So far I like the box. It has a lot to offer. There is a learning curve to it. It is not like pressing a number and going to a channel you have to open up APPS and go from there. The only problem I see is that you have to remember where everything is. There is no TV guide. It offers just about everything I have on my Directv package which cost me $110. No premium. The savage offers HBO,STZ,Cinmax,Showtime. They only difference is convenience. The DTV is easier.
The NFL,MLB,NBA,NHL, packages alone pays for one season pays for the box. The quality is great for live sporting events that I have watched.
There are tons of movie options. 4K and 3D. I watched a couple of 4K the quality was great. Lots of music choices to pick from.
For me the box is a great add on to my DTV. The only reason I say this because my wife would never go through all the gyrations of looking for her channels.
I figure I have all the sport packages which saves me money plus all of the movie channel which I will not be paying for. Also which I almost forgot you have the PPV.
All in all it's a great value no matter what you do. If you cut the cord or not.
Once you learn the box well enough and it seems you already have, you can add channels/tv shows to a favorites folder so you aren't looking for them every time. Before selecting the channel or whatever you are on, hit the menu button (three lines) and you will see an option to add to favorites. Now they are on main build far left bottom corner in the STAR logo. I will be posting videos on support page for tips and tricks as the week goes by.
Will it get the Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor fight?
are there plenty of movie streams? (new/in theatre) movies and are they high quality? someone referenced Dunkirk earlier-I watched that on a mediocre stream a couple of weeks ago.
50 should be enough for the box; that said, I think 100 is only $10/month more here in Chicago so I'm switching to 100 from 75 because it's not like you actually get the advertised speed.
Think I'm going to get one Daigo, but I had a couple questions.
1. You aren't selling these above cost, so why are you doing it? For example, I can go to The Standard Inc's site and purchase a savage box for $359 right now. Are you building these yourself?
2. Are you at all concerned about server overloads? For example, how many servers can possibly be linked to supporting this? The upload limits have to eventually become a concern?
3. You mentioned that you had older boxes that you still support; what is the longevity of these do you think? It's not a big investment, but cutting cable and going with this would be a big investment if the box went down, I'd be stuck searching for Cable.
4. What download speeds are ideal for this box? Is the Net Neutrality possibility concerning if the big media conglomerates get their way and being to discriminate against certain traffic?
Either way, I'm going to order one and instead of going through their site I will order one from you because you are the one who brought my attention to it, I was just curious on those questions. Thanks for your help.
Box is great imo. I really only ordered it for sports but I've been busting my wife's ass in Super Mario World for a few days now with the game app and just watched Game of Thrones episode 6 in perfect HD.
Has tons of movies and shows. May take some time to figure out navigation because of all of the options but like anything once you do it a few times you get the hang of it.
Thanks for the heads up on the box Daigo. Great buy and I haven't even watched any college football on it yet. Which is the main reason I purchased it.
