Twelve illegals found on the way to rolling the dice.
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->http://news.ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=858145 Twelve illegals found in SUV headed from Phoenix to Vegas

by Jim Cross/KTAR

A dozen illegal immigrants have been taken into custody on U.S. 93 northwest of the Valley.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said the uninsured driver carried no identification except a Mexican voter registration card when an SUV was stopped Monday near Congress, north of Wickenburg.

Officers found 12 people packed into the SUV. None of the passengers had identification and all admitted they were in the United States illegally. They said they were heading to Las Vegas to get work.

The SUV occupants were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Phoenix for deportation.

Immigration taking toll on U.S. environment

There is an inconvenient truth that Congress is refusing to talk about; that is the impact of U.S. immigration policies on the degradation of our environment. Immigration is the largest factor contributing to the overpopulation of the United States.

Currently, the U.S. population is about 304 million. It is estimated that by 2050 the United States population will reach over a half billion. Our current immigration policies will be responsible for nearly 70 percent of the growth rate.

Our immigration rate is at the highest point in our nation's history. The United States' current immigration rate has soared to more than 2 million per year. This includes the 1.1 million legal immigrants and estimated 1 million illegal immigrants each year.

To put things in perspective, Congress has allowed today's immigration rate to be five times what it was during the Industrial Revolution. From 1870-1900, the United States had only 400,000 immigrants arriving per year.

Massive immigration rates have been a concern of environmentalists since the first Earth Day. The late Sen. Gaylord Nelson, D-Wis., the founder of Earth Day, saw the relationship between high immigration and environmental degradation. Senator Nelson advocated major reductions in both legal and illegal immigration.

As sad as it is, there are 4 billion impoverished people who live on the earth that could benefit by moving to the U.S.

Unfortunately, bringing in millions of people has unintended consequences that are destructive, and it does nothing to empower nations to improve the welfare of their own citizens.

The 110th Congress has ignored the inconvenient truth about our high level of immigration into the United States. Unless Congress acts to change our country's immigration policies, the environment and quality of life for future generations will suffer.

U.S. Reps. Carol Shea-Porter and Paul Hodes need to take responsibility for their actions and stop putting special-interest groups in front of the American people. Join http://numbersusa.com/video

Despite last year´s sound defeat by the American people of the McCain/Kennedy Amnesty Bill, mention of that particular piece of legislation is rearing its ugly yet again. In light of the fact that we overwhelmingly rejected the bill and our legislators heard us in numbers never before seen, promises by both the Democrat and Republican nominees to pass the incredibly unpopular measure proves that neither candidate plans to represent the will of the people.

A few days ago, Republican Presidential candidate John McCain told the crowd at this year´s National La Raza Conference: "I don´t want to fail again to achieve comprehensive immigration reform." Barack Obama also addressed La Raza and pledged his support for so-called comprehensive immigration reform.

Of course, "comprehensive immigration reform" is nothing more than code for amnesty for illegal aliens!

The amnesty bill written by McCain would merely require illegal aliens to pay a $5,000 fee in order to stay here and gain legal residency. The fact that American citizenship is now valued at roughly the same cost as a 1998 Volkswagen is insulting, the fact that our own Congress and President have arrived at that estimation speaks to how little respect our elected representatives have for this nation.

Through his incompetent leadership, Bush helped throw the 2006 mid-term elections to the Democrats in order to rid the House of enough conservative Republicans to finally pass his amnesty plan. To date, the conservative House had been the only thing standing in the way of Bush and his plan to give "a path to citizenship" to millions of illegal aliens.

However, Bush did not anticipate the incredible activism displayed by the American people, who flooded the Senate last year with emails, letters, and phone calls. In fear for their political life, U.S. Senators changed their intended vote to "NO" on McCain´s amnesty plan.

Now both the House and Senate is controlled by Democrats who have been in favor of a blanket amnesty plan for years. Obama has made it clear that he would sign such a plan, so with his opponent being the man who drafted the amnesty bill, it would appear that the days are numbered for America´s sovereignty.

We are all being sold-out and now we must watch as our precious citizenship will be offered for a $5,000 fee to anyone who invades our once sovereign soil. Senator John McCain who will never let us forget that he is a veteran, is now telling us that the sacrifices made by all of the men who have fought and died for this nation meant nothing...Or at least no more than the blue book value of a '98 Jetta! <SCRIPT type=text/javascript><!--google_ad_client = "pub-8947388409604770";google_ad_width = 300;google_ad_height = 250;google_ad_format = "300x250_as";google_ad_channel = "";google_color_border = "FFFFFF";google_color_bg = "FFFFFF";google_color_link = "000084";google_color_url = "31659C";google_color_text = "000000";//--></SCRIPT><SCRIPT src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT><IFRAME name=google_ads_frame marginWidth=0 marginHeight=0 src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-8947388409604770&dt=1216523815662&lmt=1216523814&prev_fmts=728x90_as&format=300x250_as&output=html&correlator=1216523813683&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.americanchronicle.com%2Farticles%2F68587&color_bg=FFFFFF&color_text=000000&color_link=000084&color_url=31659C&color_border=FFFFFF&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.therx.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D599462&frm=0&cc=25&ga_vid=715552580656411000.1213805842&ga_sid=1216523815&ga_hid=680458888&ga_fc=true&flash=9.0.124.0&u_h=800&u_w=1280&u_ah=768&u_aw=1280&u_cd=32&u_tz=-240&u_java=true" frameBorder=0 width=300 scrolling=no height=250 allowTransparency></IFRAME>

Anyone who sneaks into our country, will enjoy the same rights and privileges as those who wait for years to come here legally. I suppose, anyone who has trespassed on a rancher's property, cutting their fences and endangering their livestock will now be regarded in the same light as the brave souls who settled at Jamestown 400 years ago.

Under McCain's bill, even members of Mexican drug gangs would receive amnesty by simply signing a statement in which they renounce their gang affiliation, the so-called 'background checks' that illegal aliens would receive are only of the 24-hour variety, which reveal very little (if anything) and would then be given a six-month worker card. Members of the violent Mexican Mafia would be given legal status based on nothing but their promise to become upstanding citizens.

My great-grandfather fought in World War I and sustained a grievous injury at the hands of the German Imperial Army, an injury which caused him to suffer for the rest of his long life. As I stare at his discharge papers and Victory Medal now proudly displayed above my desk, I wonder what he would think of this day. I wonder if he would now view the sacrifices he and so many of his comrades made for this nation to be pointless.

I grieve for my great-grandfather and for all of the courageous men who have taken up arms in defense of this great country. On this dark day, I grieve not only for the ones who are now gone but most of all for the veterans who are still here. The brave men who fought in bloody battles defending the American way of life, now must watch as those currently in power render their service irrelevant.

I would have never believed that a day would come when our Republic would be controlled by those willing to trade American citizenship for the promise of potential votes and cheap labor. However, that sad day is now upon us. http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/68587 Join http://numbersusa.com & http://fightpc.net

In a shocking article published today in the Tucson Citizen, John Ward, former <CITY w:st="on" />
Tucson </PLACE /></CITY />educator, exposed what he called the “ugly underbelly” of TUSD “Raza” Studies: It was never about education. It was always about preaching racial hatred and division, and promoting the political interests of left wing Hispanic hate groups.
</P>
“The Raza studies department has powerful allies in TUSD, on its governing board and in the <COUNTRY-REGION w:st="on" />
U.S. </PLACE /></COUNTRY-REGION />House of Representatives and thus operates with much impunity,” said Mr. Ward.
</P>
“As an educator, I refused to be complicit in a curriculum that engendered racial hostility, irresponsibly demeaned <COUNTRY-REGION w:st="on" />
America's civil institutions, undermined our public servants, discounted any virtues in Western civilization and taught disdain for American sovereignty.”
For several years <CITY w:st="on" />
Tucson </PLACE /></CITY />area political activists have challenged the racist policies taught in TUSD schools. Recently that effort has been spearheaded by
Lee Ewing </PERSONNAME />, Laura Leighton, Joe Sweeney and Clyde Philips, all members of Arizonians for Immigration Control, a group started 21 years ago by Wes Bramhall.
Last August the group obtained copies of several of the textbooks used to teach a racist viewpoint, including Occupied America, and forwarded the information to Arizona State Superintendent of Public Education Tom Horne. Several weeks ago Laura Leighton presented some of the group’s findings to the Arizona Legislature and Russell Pearce’s sub-committee sponsoring SB1108, a bill that would prohibit the public school teaching of race or culturally oriented viewpoints.
In December 2007, community activist Roy Warden (aka “The Notorious Mexican Flag Burner”) filed suit in Federal Court, alleging student-graduates of “Raza Studies,” led by activist teachers and assisted by TPD officers, created a riot to deprive Warden of his First Amendment rights when he conducted the Tucson Weekly Public Forum, in

Library </PLACENAME />
Park, on March 26, 2007.
Named defendants in Warden’s suit include Pima County Legal Defender Isabel Garcia, KVOA News and the

Academy, a charter school located at Stone and Alameda Street, on the second floor of the building occupied by "Chicanos Por La Causa."
</P>
Warden’s suit, now under challenge, is on its way to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
<COUNTRY-REGION w:st="on" />
"America </PLACE /></COUNTRY-REGION />is finally waking up to a harsh reality,” said Warden. “Americans are finally beginning to realize how deep the Open Border issue goes, how we’ve been sold out by powerful political and corporate interests.”
Warden contends that when it comes to smuggling and exploiting Mexican Illegal Aliens, Pima County Arizona is Ground Zero, the first place where the solicitation, importation and exploitation of Mexican Illegal Aliens became a part of the social, economic, legal and political fabric.
“For 30 years, fat-cat republicans like Don Diamond, and corporations like Del Web, Robeson, Pulte Homes, Meridian Homes, etc., have brought in Mexican Illegals. They were preceded by ‘Mr. Republican’ himself, Barry Goldwater, who brought in Mexican Illegals to work the family farms.”
Now, sophisticated and well-run underworld criminal enterprises earn more than 2.5 billion a year from human trafficking alone.
“The economic gain for the powerful ‘overworld’ political and economic interests runs into the trillions of dollars,” said Warden. “For the last 30 years the majority of <STATE w:st="on" />
Arizona </PLACE /></STATE />’s physical infrastructure has been built by low cost Mexican Illegal labor.
“For 30 years, <STATE w:st="on" />
Arizona </PLACE /></STATE />’s business and political elite, motivated by greed, have worked to create a catastrophe of unparalleled dimensions,” said Warden.
“Across the political spectrum, both the right wing and the left wing, republicans and democrats, joined hands with business movers and shakers and racist Hispanic hate groups to sell out
<COUNTRY-REGION w:st="on" />America. “There are now thirty million Mexican Illegal Aliens here in America. Left wing Mexican propagandists control the curriculum in our schools. Mexican drug cartels control various American municipalities. We Americans will be fighting the consequences of this betrayal forever. It will go down as ‘The Greatest Crime in American History.’”

Latino leaders believe it may be another hate crime

Los Angeles, Alta California - December 19. 2007 - (ACN) The state of Ohio is rapidly becoming another "hotspot" for anti-Mexican hate crimes. This is partially due to people like Sheriff Richard K. Jones of Butler County who has stirred up, like Sheriff Joseph Arpaio of Arizona, anti-Mexican hate among the state's racists, white supremacists and xenophobes. The extreme anti-immigrant environment fomented by the likes of Sheriff Jones and others has already resulted in the murder of Mexican immigrants in the state. Among the murdered is an entire family that perished after racist arsonists set fire to their apartment in Columbus, Ohio in September of 2004.

The latest massacre of Mexican immigrants in Ohio occurred earlier this month in Sharonville, a suburb of Cincinnati. The dead bodies of four hard working Mexican laborers were found in their apartment after their employer Abc Precision Masonry & Concrete called the police to investigate because the usually diligent and loyal workers had been absent for 9 days. The police then found the bludgeoned bodies of four Mexican males, all in their twenties, with stab wounds in the heart. Two of the victims were brothers and all four were from the same village in Mexico.

Hamilton County Coroner O'dell Owens, commenting on the fact that all four victims had "deliberate and methodical" stabs to the heart said, "It's clear that they wanted to be sure these four individuals didn't live."

Lt. John Cook of the Sharonville police said, "Robbery is unlikely considering that one victim's wallet contained $1,300 in cash." The police found a receipt showing that at least one victim sent money to his family in Mexico. The apartment had very little furniture and the workers slept on mattresses on the floor. The refrigerator contained a dozen tortillas and a few eggs. The men lived a Spartan existence in order to maximize the amount of money they sent their families in Mexico.

Lt. John Cook said that the four workers were quiet and did not create problems for anyone. Their neighbors and their employers said the men were hard and diligent workers. "They went to work every day. They were doing hard labor every day," Hamilton County Coroner O'dell Owens said. Coroner Owens added, "Why were the men killed? How many people would it take to kill four men in their 20s?"

Some Latino leaders believe that there is a high probability that the murders were the work of anti-immigrant and/or anti-Mexican racists. Oscar Chacon, Executive Director of Alianza Nacional de Comunidades Latinoamericanas y del Caribe (NALACC), said, "The anti-immigrant rhetoric of Sheriff Richard K. Jones has contributed greatly to the possibility that these murders were committed because of irrational hate towards immigrants of Mexican descent."

Juan Jose Gutierrez of the organization Latino USA said, “The real intellectual authors of these horrific crimes are those politicians, police authorities, and newscasters like Lou Dobbs of CNN who have taken charge of fomenting anti-immigrant hate in order to impel murderous racists to target our community."<!-- / message -->

<!-- /#articlebox --><SCRIPT language=javascript type=text/javascript>sfgate_get_fprefs();</SCRIPT>The man charged with killing a father and two sons on a San Francisco street last month was one of the youths who benefited from the city's long-standing practice of shielding illegal immigrant juveniles who committed felonies from possible deportation, The Chronicle has learned.
Edwin Ramos, now 21, is being held on three counts of murder in the June 22 deaths of Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. They were shot near their home in the Excelsior district when Tony Bologna, driving home from a family picnic, briefly blocked the gunman's car from completing a left turn down a narrow street, police say.
Ramos, a native of El Salvador whom prosecutors say is a member of a violent street gang, was found guilty of two felonies as a juvenile - a gang-related assault on a Muni passenger and the attempted robbery of a pregnant woman - according to authorities familiar with his background.
In neither instance did officials with the city's Juvenile Probation Department alert federal immigration authorities, because it was the city agency's policy not to consider immigration status when deciding how to deal with an offender. Had city officials investigated, they would have found that Ramos lacked legal status to remain in the United States.
Federal authorities, however, also missed an opportunity to take Ramos into custody just this past March - after they had learned of his immigration status and started deportation proceedings, and after Ramos was arrested in San Francisco on a gun charge. For reasons the federal agents cannot explain, they did not put an immigration hold on Ramos.
Raised in El Salvador

Juvenile justice authorities locally had a policy for at least a decade of not turning over illegal immigrant felons to the federal government, interpreting San Francisco's self-proclaimed sanctuary-city status and state law as barring local officials from surrendering them for deportation.
Mayor Gavin Newsom rescinded that policy earlier this month after The Chronicle reported that the city had flown a number of youths out of the country on its own, in possible violation of federal law, and then housed some in unlocked group homes from which they quickly escaped.
Ramos came to the United States at age 13 from El Salvador, where he had been raised by his grandmother.
Authorities familiar with his background said Ramos wanted to be near his mother, who had abandoned him when he was 4 months old; she was living with two of her other children in San Francisco.
According to records, his first contact with San Francisco police came Oct. 22, 2003, when officers were summoned to investigate an attack on a Muni bus at 21st and Mission streets.
Ramos, who had just turned 17, had allegedly flashed gang signs and banged on the bus' windows with two other gang members. The three then yelled, "Who are you with?" at a passenger, who responded that he did not belong to a gang, police said.
At that point, Ramos and the other two boarded the bus and beat and kicked the man, an attack that was recorded by the bus' video camera, authorities said.
Ramos was taken to juvenile hall on charges of assault and participating in a street gang. He was later convicted in juvenile court and was put in a shelter.
At that point, under federal law, Ramos could have been referred to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. But the Juvenile Probation Department's policy for dealing with offenders stipulated that "probation officers shall not discriminate in any fashion against minors based on their immigration status." If the department made any inquiries into whether Ramos was a legal U.S. resident, it did not pass along its findings to the federal government.
New crime within days

On April 2, 2004, Ramos was released to the custody of his mother, but was still considered a ward of the court and was on probation. Just four days later, records show, he committed another crime at 19th and Mission streets, two blocks from the site of the attack on the Muni passenger.
Records indicate that Ramos and two other men approached a pregnant woman from behind during the middle of the day, and that Ramos tried to yank away her backpack-style purse.
The woman's brother was walking alongside and tried to stop the attack. He pushed Ramos away, he later said, but Ramos punched him and fled.
The man found a police officer and pointed out Ramos nearby. A month later, Ramos was convicted as a juvenile of attempted robbery, a felony, but cleared of assault.
Ramos was sent to Log Cabin Ranch, a city-run camp in the hills of the Peninsula, in June 2004. He was freed in February 2005, this time to live with his mother's sister.
Federal authorities finally learned that Ramos wasn't a legal U.S. resident sometime after he turned 18, when he applied for temporary residency status and was turned down. The records are confidential, so the exact date of Ramos' application is unclear, but ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice said that once he was turned down, he would have been considered deportable.
By that time, however, Ramos had married a woman who is a U.S. citizen and applied again to immigration officials to stay in the United States, this time as a permanent resident. That request was pending at the time Tony Bologna and his sons were shot to death.
Another break

In March, three months before the killings, Ramos was arrested in San Francisco after police pulled him over because his car had illegally tinted windows and no front license plate. An alleged gang member in the car tried to discard a gun, but police recovered it and later concluded that it had been used in a double killing, authorities said.
The police report of the incident cited "numerous documented contacts" that officers had with Ramos and the man who allegedly discarded the gun, and said both were active members of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) street gang.
San Francisco prosecutors, however, declined to file charges against Ramos, saying they couldn't prove that he knew his companion had the gun.
When Ramos was arrested, sheriff's deputies checked his immigration status on a national database and learned that he was considered deportable, immigration and sheriff's officials say. Eileen Hirst, chief of staff for Sheriff Michael Hennessey, said deputies had asked whether federal officials wanted to place a hold on Ramos so he could be taken into immigration custody.
"In our communication with ICE, they specifically told us they were not placing a detainer on him," Hirst said. "We cannot hold people in custody without a documented reason to hold them."
Kice acknowledged that federal authorities had not asked for Ramos to be held. She said she did not know why.
City now referring offenders

Since Newsom announced the city's policy shift, San Francisco has referred at least 10 juvenile offenders to ICE for possible deportation proceedings.
In an interview Friday, Newsom declined to comment on Ramos' history in San Francisco's juvenile justice system, saying it would be wildly inappropriate to do so given the confidentiality of juvenile criminal records.
Newsom's juvenile probation director, William Siffermann, inherited his agency's policy of not turning over illegal immigrant juveniles for deportation when he took the job in early 2005. All of Ramos' contacts with the city's juvenile justice system took place before Siffermann came on board.
Siffermann said in an interview, "I am not going to confirm any of his prior dealings with our department. I can't comment on what the implications were for our department when that decision was made. That is part of what we're reviewing."
Ramos' lawyer in the triple-murder case, Robert Amparan, did not address the issue of Ramos' immigration status, saying only that there were several people who would vouch for his client's character and good work in the community.
"I've gotten several calls from community workers, educators and city service providers who know and work with Edwin," Amparan said. "They all expressed support and say they had never known him to be involved in anything like the allegations against him."
What might not have been

Joseph Russoniello, the U.S. attorney for Northern California, said he welcomed the city's re-examination of its policies related to how it handles illegal immigrant youths who commit felonies.
"A formula has to be found that accommodates the public's right to be safe and the juvenile's need to be protected, in many cases, from themselves," Russoniello said. "It is something that cries out for more attention than we're giving it."
As for the killings of the Bolognas, Russoniello said, "Is this something that could have been prevented? I don't know."
Danielle Bologna, however, said that if the government had done its job, the killings of her husband and two sons "would never have happened."
"It was senseless," she said. "And to think they didn't deport him back, knowing that he did not have papers and he was here illegally, it is a big issue.
"They need to take responsibility, the city," Bologna said. "They didn't do anything. ... He should have been deported. This is huge. I'm extremely angry about this."

JUDICIAL WATCH SUES US GOV'T. ON BEHALF OF IMPRISONED BORDER PATROL AGENTS
By NWV Staff Writer, Sarah Foster

Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, the two Border Patrol agents shamelessly prosecuted by the U.S. government for shooting and wounding a Mexican drug smuggler, Oswald Aldrete-Davila, on February 17, 2005, have not been forgotten by many Americans -- such as attorney's from Judicial Watch -- who are actively pursuing their release from captivity.

The two Border Patrol agents were sentenced to 11 and 12 years respectively. Meanwhile, Aldrete-Davila, who attempted to smuggle 750 pounds of marijuana into the U.S., was given medical treatment and immunity for his testimony against the railroaded border agents.

"Instead of giving these two dedicated law enforcement officers the 'heroes treatment," they were arrested, tried and imprisoned. Americans who bothered to follow the news coverage of the case were, for the most part, shocked at the disgraceful treatment of Agents Compean and Ramos," said political strategist Mike Baker.

TOPICS: Illegal Immigraiton, Illegal Immigrants, Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos, Alonso Compean,Border Patrol agents , prosecuted by the U.S. government, Mexican drug smuggler, Oswald Aldrete-Davila,Judicial Watch, immunity for his testimony, law enforcement officers, Bush Administration's, US Border Patrol agents, Don't do your jobs, illegal aliens violating US laws, FOIA lawsuit, State Department, the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department

"You may disagree with me, but I believe the legal action taken against these Border Patrol veterans was the Bush Administration's way of sending a message to all US Border Patrol agents: Don't do your jobs. If you do, you'll be punished," Baker suspects.

Former New York City police detective now owner of a Manhattan security firm, Sidney Francis is quite disturbed over the Ramos/Compean case, as well.

"This reminds me of the incidents when cops, who did their jobs protecting and serving the people of New York, would be singled out for punishment, harassment and loss of their jobs. Meanwhile, crooked, abusive cops would always find protection behind the so-called "Blue Wall," and never suffered for their transgressions," said Det. Francis.

"The message in the Compean/Ramos case seems to be: do your jobs and you'll be punished. Ignore illegal aliens violating US laws and you'll be rewarded with pay increases, promotions and other 'goodies' by cynical political leaders who favor an unbridled invasion of the US by millions of illegal aliens," he added.

Three weeks ago, Judicial Watch, a non-partisan, public interest law firm, filed a lawsuit against the Department of State to obtain documents related to the government's decision to prosecute Ramos and Compean and to strike a deal with the criminal and drug trafficker Aldrete-Davila for his testimony against the two agents who intercepted him at the US-Mexican border.

According to officials at Judicial Watch, JD attorneys filed their original FOIA request on April 17, 2008. However, the US government failed to respond within the statutory 20-day period, forcing Judicial Watch attorneys to file their lawsuit.

This is the second FOIA lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch related to the jailed Border Patrol agents, according to the organization's officials.

JD officials said they are essentially after:

Information pertaining to government deals that were made with the government of Mexico to bring Aldrete-Davila to the U.S. to testify.

Any internal communications between the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department related to the decision to permit the lawful entry of Aldrete-Davila into the U.S. for medical treatment and for meetings with government prosecutors.

Any and all records of the Diplomatic Security Services, a branch of the State Department, related to the shooting incident.

There is enormous public interest in this incident. Many people, especially conservative activists, suspect these Border Patrol Agents were railroaded by some within the federal government for simply doing their jobs. Given the controversy surrounding the case, Judicial Watch officials believe the more the American people know about what they view as a gross miscarriage of justice, the better.

Their lawsuit on behalf of the two jailed Border Patrol agents is only part of Judicial Watch's legal battle with the US government with regard to border security and illegal aliens. For example, in the past, it obtained records from the Department of Homeland Security through the Freedom of Information Act that document 226 incursions by Mexican government personnel into the United States between 1996 and 2005.

Released to Judicial Watch, the records consist of annual intelligence summaries of "Mexican Government Incidents," compiled over a nine-year period. They were designated as "limited official use" by the DHS, requiring "special protection against unauthorized or inadvertent disclosure."

"How is it that our political leaders tell Americans they are do everything possible to secure our borders and protect our sovereignty, yet they hide and disregard reports of incursions by Mexican military and police personnel suspected of providing protection for drug and human traffickers?" asks Lieutenant Stephan Rodgers, a New Jersey detective bureau commander.

"In the Compean/Ramos case, the federal government actually punished law enforcement officers for attempting to stop an incursion by a drug trafficker. The American people are being lied to by government officials while at the same time being placed in harm's way since many of these incursions are perpetrated by armed Mexicans," added the decorated police commander.

The public interest law firm Judicial Watch achieved national recognition during its legal battle with President Bill Clinton's administration in the 1990s, especially with regard to allegations of political corruption.

JD continues such legal actions against suspected political corruption. For example, Judicial Watch filed separate complaints with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) and the Ethics Committee in the US Senate against Senator Barack Obama for allegedly accepting a 'sweetheart' mortgage deal in 2005 that would not be available to the general consumer.

JD attorneys are also investigating Congressman Charlie Rangel's involvement in a case regarding four rent-controlled apartments in New York City, and a decision by the Los Angeles County Superior Court in a taxpayer lawsuit to end Special Order 40, a Los Angeles Police Department illegal alien sanctuary policy (Judicial Watch, Inc. v The Los Angeles Police Department et. al, Case No. BC349040). Immigrants treated better than veterans
If anybody wants to find the illegal immigrants in this area, all they must do is visit the emergency room of any local hospital.
The law says nobody can be denied medical care, but that does not mean law enforcement cannot find out who is getting free care.
The Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic in New Bedford is only open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If a veteran gets sick after 5 p.m., that veteran must use our local hospital, and the VA doesn't pay for that care.
That also applies to weekends.
Why should illegal immigrants get free care when veterans don't get free care?
At present there are 500,000 veterans waiting for their VA pensions, and the number grows each day.
Many World War II veterans are still waiting for their pensions, while illegal immigrants are getting free care at our local hospital.
Our state and federal elected officials are not helping our veterans, yet they wasted no time helping the illegal immigrants when Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided a New Bedford factory.

I agree wholeheartedly with the author. As retired military with 24 years of service and combat disabled I find it beyond appalling when this so called government for which we have sacrificed so much to protect, defend and preserve places the interests of those who violate our borders, sovereignty, immigration laws, steal our identities and thumb their noses at everything for which this republic stands are placed ahead of the interests of veterans for cheap labor and illegal votes. I have to...

Veterans should not vote for John "I love illegals" Kerry in November. He ran to for the photo-ops with the illegals in the Bianco raid. Oh sure, now that it's election time we'll see some photos of Kerry with a veteran but make no mistake. He has been a turncoat when it comes to the troops of past and present on several occasions.

Mr. Chicco, I agree 100% with you. Veternas are eitherignored or given second rate citizen status because itis politically correct in our society to cater toillegal immigrants. Just like the heading of yourletter. Please notice the editor wrote the title asimmigrant, instead of illegal immigrants. Your letterspecificaly refers to illegal immigrants as getting special treatment, not immigrants. Again, this newspaper is kissing the rear ends of illegal immigrants to stay politically correct.

The most effective government program against illegal immigration is again under attack behind the scenes in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Your NumbersUSA Capitol Hill Team just called me and urged that you pick up a phone this afternoon and help the Hill Team protect the E-Verify program that keeps illegal foreign workers out of U.S. jobs.

Nearly all of you will see on your Action Buffet corkboard a phone action note, and most of you will see a fax action note, to give you talking points and more information.

Please go there now. If you respond to this immediately and don't see the action yet, please check back in a half hour or so. The Action Buffet Team is moving as fast as possible.

A couple of weeks ago, I came to you to stop another attack on E-Verify. Within 24 hours, your phone calls and faxes had been so heavy that the attackers backed off.

But now they are back, battling behind the scenes to weaken the program. Their main point is that they want to re-authorize E-Verify for only three years.

We want it authorized permanently, but will accept a 10-year re-authorization.

The national big business lobbyists are frustrated that there is too much public support for E-Verify right now for them to kill the program. So, they are trying to make sure that they have another chance to kill it or water it down in just three years (when perhaps the public is not paying so much attention).

You may remember that the program was created by Congress in 1996 as a pilot program. It had to be reauthorized every few years until it was completely proven. That time is here again. If Congress doesn't pass a reauthorization by November, it will die, and the 70,000 businesses currently using it will lose their program for ensuring that they aren't hiring illegal workers.

Every month, the list of states, counties and cities that are requiring contractors and others to use E-Verify is growing. The fewer jobs available to illegal aliens, the more illegal aliens who will go back to their home countries.

We continue to hope that E-Verify will be re-authorized before Congress recesses for the summer next week. Your massive sign of support for E-Verify needs to be seen and heard inside the halls of Congress.

THANKS,

Loads of Letters

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=650 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=t1letterblock vAlign=top align=left>RECOMMENDED WRITING STYLE: We recognize that each of you has the ability to make your own decisions about how to write your letters. NumbersUSA's opinion is that letters are more likely to be published and more likely to help our cause of dramatic immigration reductions if they are written in a temperate, self-controlled way that avoids name-calling and arguments based on race, religion or national origin. A strong use of a few facts, voting records, concise analysis and sometimes humor seems the best way to advance our arguments. We encourage specific criticism of open-border politicians and others, but caution against "in your face" rhetoric. Firm but civil argument tends to get the best results. You, of course, are free to disagree. We applaud all published letters that advocate for our immigration-reduction goals, but we may not disseminate those that move outside the tone that we encourage, a tone that many newspapers include in their own letters to the editor guidelines.

Local governments slow to comply with immigration law

Forum

By D.A. King

In December 2005, an Atlanta Journal-Constitution/Zogby poll showed about 80 percent of Georgians were fed up with the illegal immigration and illegal employment crisis here and wanted the state government to address the issue.

So the General Assembly did exactly that, and it was a heck of a fight.

In April 2006, state Sen. Chip Rogers, R-Woodstock, was successful in having his very comprehensive reform bill, the Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act (Senate Bill 529), signed into law by Gov. Sonny Perdue.

At the time, no one - including Sen. Rogers and those who worked very hard to pass the bill - dreamed that the elected officials of virtually all of the state's local governments would fail to observe the "compliance" part of the title. But, at the one-year anniversary of the bill going into effect, that is exactly what has happened.
The bill requires that all local governments obtain a "memorandum of understanding" with the federal government to use a database called the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements system to screen applicants who have sworn they are in the U.S. lawfully and are eligible for "public benefits."

It isn't happening.

Of the 535 municipalities and 159 counties in the state, a June 23 list provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security shows that a grand total of nine entities - none in Northeast Georgia - are either enrolled in SAVE or have even applied for the system designed to verify that public benefits go to those who are eligible.

While the term "public benefits" brings to mind welfare and social benefits, according to the law, they also include all "professional licenses, or commercial licenses provided by an agency of a State or local government or by appropriated funds of a State or local government."

Put a different way, besides not having obeyed the state law designed to require Georgia governments to comply with federal law, each time a Georgia city or county issues or renews a business or commercial license to an alien without obtaining a sworn affidavit of lawful presence in the U.S. from the applicant and then verifying that status using the SAVE program, that local government is in violation of the law.

When it comes to anything concerning illegal immigration and employment, there seems be a lot of that going around.

In a war on terror and with brave Border Patrol agents risking their lives to apprehend illegal border crossers from all over the world, the concept that we would reward those who elude our first line of defense with a license to do business here should be a matter of very focused attention by voters in the coming elections.

The thought that we must obey the law here will likely strike many as "extreme" - there is a lot of that going around as well.

Senate Bill 529 also requires all public employers - the state itself and local governments are employers - to use the no-cost federal "E-Verify" database to be sure that newly hired employees have legal immigration status and are eligible to work in our nation.
On that, the local governments are doing only a little better.

About 60 Georgia counties have not obtained authority to use E-Verify. When it comes to the Georgia municipalities, the numbers get even worse: The Atlanta Business Chronicle recently reported that "only about one-quarter of Georgia cities had signed up for the program."

One must wonder how many illegals are being paid with taxpayer funds because of the noncompliance.

Some contractors doing business with government also are required to use E-Verify and on July 1, many more came under the rule.

One can only imagine the howls were the same governments to refuse to enforce the laws that grant taxpayer-funded education and medical care to those who have no legal right to live or work in our vanishing republic - which is supposed to be based and operated on the rule of law.

Maybe we need to pass another law saying that our elected officials must obey the current law, and then hope that it is obeyed.

• D.A. King is president of the Georgia-based Dustin Inman Society, which is opposed to illegal immigration and illegal employment. He lobbied in favor of the Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act.

Media biased about illegal immigration

Fran Eaton does a fine job in addressing the illegal alien crisis in Illinois with her column "State government's pandering to immigrants could be dangerous," June 25.

But nearly all the responsibility for this worsening problem rests with our inept federal government that has for years failed to enforce its own laws.

Now California is challenging federal law by "outlawing" workplace enforcement. Failure to enforce the law only breeds contempt for the law, just as amnesty breeds more illegal immigration.

Had Gov. Rod Blagojevich been arrested and seen on the news immediately after he signed into law the bill "prohibiting" use of any workplace verification, that would have sent a very powerful message. But the feds don't have the guts to do what they should be doing.

But there are two more elements of this crisis that cannot be overlooked.

First, the American taxpayer. Until more of us become active in the political process and demand our immigration laws be enforced to the hilt, nothing will change.

And why are many of us remaining silent on the issue? It's because we have been misinformed by a mainstream media, whose reporters and editors have failed miserably in their responsibility to their readers and viewers to present balanced coverage of the immigration dilemma.

I'm going to suggest to you that many "journalists" can't even spell "critical thinking," let alone apply it to their coverage of immigration. Virtually all immigration stories today are of the sob-sister variety that paint illegals as "victims" who are forced to live in the shadows.

As someone who spent nearly 30 years as a print journalist with the old Chicago Daily News and Crain's Chicago Business, I am ashamed of what has happened to the basic rules of fairness and balance in the news-gathering business as they pertain to immigration stories.
Finally, I disagree with the headline on Eaton's column. Pandering to illegal aliens is dangerous - period.

Illegal immigrants cause lasting harm

To the Editor:

Allison Mountz (July 3) suggests "Citizens should protest harassment of immigrants," but it takes only a moment to realize that in her vocabulary, "immigrant" actually means "illegal alien."

"Illegal alien" is the official term in United States law for citizens of other countries who illegally enter the United States. In her support of these criminals and their perpetration of crime against all of us, she inflicts great harm, especially to those citizens who are most economically disadvantaged.

Unskilled workers (citizens) can't get decent-paying work because the illegal foreign workers undercut wages. This is great for the elite, but terrible for workers.

The illegal aliens live on the backs of the middle class. It costs the average United States taxpayer $1,800 per year just to fund the portion of social services going to illegal aliens. This doesn't count the extra costs of supporting forms and communications in languages other than English (primarily Spanish).

Other costs are incurred by increased medical costs, and bankrupt emergency rooms, resulting from illegal aliens using ERs as their outpatient clinics. Criminal gangs of illegal aliens have emerged in the United States. These are lasting social harms.

Overpopulation is the greatest threat to a sustainable U.S.A. through the rest of this century. We are the only developed country that is rapidly increasing in population; primarily through immigration, both legal and illegal.

This is having a negative impact on our environment by stressing our infrastructure due to rapid growth. Our society is being particularly strained by the presence of 23 million Hispanic illegal aliens (most accurate current estimate) in our country.

These illegal alien foreign workers are mostly high school dropouts who can't earn enough to support themselves. The average illegal alien household in the United States consumes $9,000 more dollars a year in public services than it contributes in taxes.

During this Independence Day, and leading up to the election this fall, keep in mind that this assault upon our sovereign nation, by a demographic and economic tsunami of illegal aliens, benefits only the corporate elite who want the cheap labor, and the socialists who benefit from a society of victims and dependents.

To this end, please ask your state Assembly member to support Bill 10593, which mandates that state and local law enforcement assist with federal immigration enforcement. This is the least we can do to protect the sovereign integrity of our nation.

A court date

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom may soon be facing a court appearance. His first offense is the surreptitious dumping of juvenile illegal immigrant cocaine dealers into local group homes in San Bernardino County; - for subsequent disappearance into the shadows.

I wonder if Newsom was also unaware of the Federal Immigration and Nationality Act, which states that "any person who encourages or induces an alien to reside in the United States knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such residence is in violation of law, shall be punished.

It’s my fondest hope to see Newsom appear in court.

Imagine the shock and sadness on the faces of Obama, McCain and even Bob Barr, to wake up on the Fourth of July and bring up on their screens the NumbersUSA.com Assessment of the Presidential Candidates on Immigration Issues (NumbersUSA has over 650,000 members) and find that, on a topic that the vast majority of Americans favor no amnesty their assessments were abysmal or bad, while their opposing candidate, Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party, scored excellent.

Finally there is someone in this race who can give a majority of Americans a voice. To make matters worse for these North American Union/open borders-favoring presidential hopefuls, candidate Baldwin scored excellent on all 16 different points concerning immigration from no chain migration, to no birthright citizenship for those born of illegal aliens, to no sanctuary cities, to no driver's licenses for illegal aliens , while Obama and McCain were scoring from abysmal to poor to bad on almost all 16 points (with an occasional good thrown in obvious campaign-trail promises never meant to be honored). Read it and weep if you must. ...

The U.S. is becoming nation of lawbreakers

The fact that someone threw a rock at the sign in the parade that was sponsored by the Minnesota Coalition for Immigration Reform and injured a woman was a tragedy but not the fault of MCIF, which was exercising its First Amendment rights. This is an example of juvenile delinquents who have no respect for the law and must be prosecuted for assault and battery. If the parade committee decides not to allow the sign next year, then the Constitution loses and the criminals win. The U.S. used to be a nation of laws, now it is a nation of lawbreakers.

What a Real Immigration Victory Would Look Like

To the Editor:

Re “False Victory at the Border” (editorial, July 5):
You say, “The real victory will come when a repaired, well-patrolled border coincides with a repaired, well-run immigration system that requires undocumented workers to come forward and be legalized.”

No, the real victory will come when people stay in their home nations and apply for United States citizenship legally, respect then running both ways.

EGOMEDIACS - 2008 Election
By Jan Herron

National politics is weird this year, with many trillion-dollar issues. But nobody wants to talk about the giraffe in the living room.

With the exception of a few - many in the political arena just can't bring themselves to address the illegal immigration issue. What's wrong with these politicians putting aside their pink-painted egos so their constituents can decide the topics they address? The American public seeks to become informed on the primary issue facing their nation, and they're asking to be heard.

I urge those running for office to get with the program. While the economy and energy are certainly exciting - it seems they hope to ignore the revitalized importance of illegal immigration as the #3 issue. We're losing our country to an invasion of foreign nationals, lead by La Raza, advocating the armed overthrow of our southwest states; it's time for those in Washington to do their part to save it.

For those politicians asleep at the wheel who have no idea that illegal immigration has become a listener-demanded topic, here's how to bring yourselves up to snuff: use your computer, do a Google search by entering "illegal immigration." You'll find literally thousands of news articles and commentary for educating yourselves.

Candidates and elected officials play a pathetically obvious game of hide-and-seek with "politically-incorrect" issues - fearing the label of "racist." Their refusal to even address the real issues will increase their current reputation of failing to be politically forthright. Folks, we're talking about the #3 issue facing this country. Those lawmakers in Washington must listen to and follow their customers. or they'll lose them.

Surprise, surprise; those worldly politicians will soon find that speaking out truthfully can be quite liberating.

The electorate is very sensitive as of late. Lack of respect for the hard work of these patriots gives "We-the-People" cause to conclude that the "writers" and "talkers" are as clueless as the political elite. At the end of the day, these so-called "traditional neocon and progressive reporters" only damage themselves with their attacks on concerned citizens.

Business as usual is offending the not-so-silent majority. Citizens who take the "politically correct" position on issues often have no other basis than hatred or envy of the Right. or a compulsion to shield those "power-drunk" elite with their pre-spun babble.

Most citizens know that biased newspapers and broadcast media control what passes for "government accountability," and have been betrayed by the news media too often in the past to trust them now. Collusion has raised its ugly head. As we learn of more "contracts" between "writers," "talkers" and "policiticians," what little credibility they have left continues to disappear.

Get a reality check, "writers" and "talkers," or you'll be displaced by new writers faster than an American, union-member construction worker loses his job to an illegal alien.

We must insist that "writers" and "talkers" continue to speak total truth. with public disclosure of the terminal corruption of so many government officials. It's time to expand the circle of truth, and continue to show everyone the terminal corruption of so many of our government officials - as well as many of their "writer" and "talker" buddies.

"Writers" and "talkers" beware; you may continue your efforts to beat down American citizens, but we will outlast you. because we have the truth on our side and we have the citizenry on our side. We've learned to use the technology of the Internet to learn what the "writers" and "talkers" won't discuss.

And all the while, the "writers" and "talkers" remain clueless; indeed, they never had it in the beginning. They are trained to be sluggish. Sluggish minds don't think outside the box; they think about making the box more comfortable. This principle is not difficult to grasp.

Political slugs never die; they only crawl out from beneath a new rock. Sometimes it's the same slugs from the same family, sometimes it's a "shirttail relative." But they're all "worms" nonetheless. Listeners have an effective means of dealing with "writers" and "talkers" who slant their coverage or conceal the facts: change the station.

Citizens recognize and resent their patronizing manner to their listeners. They hold them responsible for the political climate that promotes corruption, deceit, and injustice directed against honest citizens. We watch "writers" and "talkers" turn a blind eye while we're losing our country.

Wake up America! Sleeping Beauty wins the prince, but doesn't save the country. Open your eyes to the real and ever-present dangers that are lurking at our doorsteps. The knock at your door won't be the Avon Lady. Some "writers" and "talkers" are running short of time to diligently report what really happens when government undermines the WILL of Citizens. BEWARE as the critical mass continues to grow this election cycle more than ever.

Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey has put a hold on the reauthorization of the E-Verify program. As you know, E-Verify allows employers to determine the legality of their potential new hire. This program is up for reauthorization and many anti-American worker congressmen have been trying to hold the bill up.

Sen. Menendez has placed a hold on the bill and refuses to release the hold until the Congress agrees to increase the number of work-based visas. It is absolutely appalling that a United States Senator would do this to American workers. Not only is he holding up a program that prevents illegal aliens from finding work (and thereby allowing Americans to fill jobs), he is holding it hostage for more skilled worker visas (which keep educated Americans out of a job).

Send your Democratic U.S. Senator as fax and urge him/her to keep Sen. Menendez in line. Remind him/her that this is probably not the message that the Democratic party wants to send heading into the November elections.

58 Illegal Aliens Arrested in Ohio Enforcement Actions

Thursday, July 24, 2008, 10:42 AM

ICE%20raids2.jpg

Yesterday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 58 illegal aliens during eight enforcement actions in the Ohio towns of Ashland, Fremont, Norwalk, Oberlin, Oregon, Sandusky, Vermilion and Youngstown. All were employed in the Norwalk-based Casa Fiesta restaurant chain. Agents also searched a Norwalk home after a warrant was issued.

The raids were the result of a one-year criminal investigation, according to an ICE press release. The release notes that everyone detained was medically screened and interviewed by ICE agents to determine if they have medical, sole-caregiver, or other humanitarian issues. Three of the four women arrested were released on humanitarian grounds pending their appearance before an immigration judge, which will determine if they will be deported.
This is the second enforcement action related to suspected illegal staffing operations in Ohio this year. An April 16 raid of seven restaurants in Ohio and five other states netted 45 arrests of illegal aliens and criminal charges against employers for recruiting and harboring illegal aliens.
Since October, 2007 ICE has made 949 criminal arrests related to worksite enforcement investigations. 105 were owners, managers, supervisors or human resources employees who face charges ranging from harboring to knowingly hiring illegal aliens. ICE also made more than 3,500 administrative arrests for immigration violations in the workplace during the same period. Source: http://numbersusa.com

Immigrant Rights Groups Challenge ID Theft Arrests

* Identity Theft Penalty Enhancement Act of 2004

Morning Edition, July 24, 2008 · For years, the chief punishment for immigrants caught working illegally in the United States has been deportation. But prosecutors are now bringing criminal charges that include aggravated identity theft, which can bring a hefty prison sentence. Immigrant rights groups and some members of Congress are challenging the practice.

A congressional panel is meeting Thursday to look at the controversial fallout from an immigration raid on an Iowa meat-packing plant in May. Not long ago, illegal immigrants swept up in such raids faced administrative charges and swift deportation. But in recent years, the Bush administration has started bringing criminal charges against immigrants who use fake documents, including stolen Social Security numbers.

After the raid at the Agriprocessors plant in Postville, Iowa, more than 250 workers were sentenced to five months in prison. Rights groups, defense lawyers and even some judges are questioning the Bush administration's strategy.

Iowa immigration attorney Dan Vondra says he was stunned to see immigrant workers from the plant charged with aggravated identity theft. Congress created that law in 2004 to toughen penalties for the growing problem of identity theft.

Still, Vondra said, "When you think of identity theft, what you really want to target is somebody getting credit cards in your name, ruining your credit, using your name to commit crimes, things of that nature."

The immigrants had bought stolen Social Security numbers to help them find work, Vondra said. In fact, one of the translators at the court proceedings has said the mainly Guatemalan immigrants he encountered had no idea what a Social Security card was — let alone that the numbers on it belonged to real people.

Challenges In The Courts

Last year, another Iowa attorney used that argument in court. Gary Koos' client had been arrested at a concrete company after buying an ID off the street in order to fill out employment forms. Koos didn't think that fit the crime of aggravated identity theft.

"If you want to think of it in legal terms, it would be that a person has to be put upon notice of what the crime is," Koos said. "And in this case, it's knowingly to use someone else's identity. My client didn't know he had someone else's Social Security number, he just had a number."

Koos lost the case on appeal, and his immigrant client is now serving five years in federal prison. But Koos' argument has been backed by other appeals courts — and he thinks the Supreme Court may need to resolve the dispute.

The issue is coming up more often because of another part of the Bush administration's immigration crackdown. More and more companies are using a federal computer program that can detect fake Social Security numbers. But it can't tell when real numbers are used by another person — which has fueled a growing market for stolen IDs.

"The issue is whether people using false identifications should be held accountable for that," said Bob Teig, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office in northern Iowa, which prosecuted the Agriprocessors case.

Teig said he didn't know whether any of the workers charged with aggravated ID theft had used Social Security numbers for anything but work. But that's not the point, he said.

"The point is, by the time it happens it's too late. The statute is not just designed to punish, the statute is designed to prevent," Teig said.

A Stiff Mandatory Sentence

To be clear, the Agriprocessors employees did not plead guilty to aggravated ID theft. But because the charge carries a two-year prison sentence as its mandatory minimum, it put pressure on them to accept a plea deal on lesser charges.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) has called for a hearing to look at that procedure. She's also an immigration attorney, and she questions whether due process was upheld.

"Hundreds of people were convinced to plead guilty to a crime without really an adequate opportunity to see if they had any remedy under immigration law," Lofgren said. "And of course, now that they've pled guilty to a crime, they have no remedies that they might otherwise have had."

Not all arrested immigrant workers are being sentenced to jail time. But federal immigration officials say incarceration can be an important deterrent. And Julie Myers, head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, says that some victims of this kind of ID theft suffer financial and legal hardships.

"We think it's tragic and unfortunate when people break the law by coming here," Myers said, "and then break the law again by actually stealing the identity of U.S. citizens."

So far this year, the immigration agency has made more than 900 criminal arrests. Source: http://fightpc.net

WASHINGTON, July 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American citizens andlegal immigrants will be in Postville, Iowa, this Sunday, July 27, todemonstrate their support for recent efforts to crackdown on employers whohire illegal aliens. Postville was the site of the largest enforcementaction to date by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) at ameat processing plant that employed hundreds of illegal aliens and wasengaging in other criminal activities, including document fraud. The rally, in support of ICE's stepped-up enforcement activities, willcounter demonstrations planned by supporters of illegal immigration. Inaddition to Iowans, supporters of immigration enforcement will travel toPostville from Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and New Jersey. "We will be there on Sunday to show that millions of Americans who workhard and play by the rules applaud efforts to finally enforce our nation'simmigration laws," said Susan Tully, national field director of theFederation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). FAIR is the nation'slargest immigration reform organization, with some 250,000 membersnationwide. "It has been the long-term failure of the government to enforce lawsagainst employing illegal aliens that has led to wanton disregard for ourlaws. More importantly, mass illegal immigration has undermined the abilityof many American families to find jobs at wages that allow them to supporttheir own families, and has forced millions more Americans to subsidizeillegal workers and their employers with their tax dollars," stated Tully."The American public has waited far too long for ICE to finally begintaking worksite enforcement seriously and, by our presence in Postville, wehope to demonstrate that we want to see such efforts increased, not ended." Those who will be protesting against immigration enforcement complainfalsely that ICE actions, such as the one in Postville, are targeted onlyat the illegal immigrants themselves, and not the unscrupulous businessesthat employ them. "Our aim is to demonstrate public support for vigorousprosecution of employers who, in addition to violating laws against hiringillegal aliens, engage in other sorts of reprehensible and criminalactivities," Tully noted. "Those who were here illegally need to returnhome and build their own communities, and those who exploit illegal laborand impose burdens on American taxpayers should be sent to prison." The demonstration in favor of ICE enforcement is scheduled to getunderway at 1 p.m. at the Postville City Hall at 145 S. Lawler Street.Susan Tully will be in Postville on Sunday to coordinate the demonstrationin support of the ICE enforcement efforts. Thanks for the tens of thousands of faxes and countless phone calls you made yesterday.

This is one of those battles that is going to take day after day of effort. If you didn't make the phone calls yesterday, please do so today.

Find the links on the NumbersUSA.com home page to all the actions and information on the current crisis to save the E-Verify system (which keeps illegal aliens out U.S. jobs).

If you are one of the few people who didn't have a Senator or Representative to fax or call on your corkboard, you may want to call one of Sen. Menendez' offices today and tell them that his "hold" on E-Verify authorization threatens great harm to your state because his action would deny businesses the ability to keep illegal aliens out of jobs.

If you live in Georgia, Oklahoma or Arizona, or any other state, city or county that has mandated the use of E-Verify, call Sen. Menendez and protest his threatening to take away the chief tool that your own government has adopted to protect local workers from unfair foreign labor competition.
