[h=1]The USA Dual Nationality Squad[/h]Keith Hickey | May 22, 2010 | Comments 11

The United States is known, for good reason, as a nation of immigrants. That reality is reflected in the makeup of our national team. Plenty of American players could have represented another country, like that despicable Judas traitor Giuseppe Rossi did. And conversely, plenty of players playing for foreign national teams could have suited up for the Yanks, like that despicable Judas traitor Giuseppe Rossi could have. So many players, in fact, you could make up an entire 23-man national team out of dual-citizenship holding Americans.
GK:
Tim Howard – (USA/Hungary) He may be the final line of Yankee defense, but our very own Timmeh could have been a Magyar had he wished. His mother was born in Hungary, meaning Howard was theoretically eligible to play for the team of Puskas and Kubala.
Boaz Myhill – (Wales/USA) The Hull City keeper may play his international football for Wales, but he was born in Modesto, California.
Darren Randolph – (Ireland/USA) Randolph’s father emigrated to Ireland to play in the Irish basketball league. The Bray-born goalkeeper has gone on to represent Ireland at every level below the senior national team.
DF:
Carlos Bocanegra – (USA/Mexico) The American captain has a Mexican father, but we won’t hold that against him.
Neven Subotic - (Serbia/USA) Although he plays for Serbia now, the Borussia Dortmund defender lived in the US for several years, and represented the US as a youth international before switching nationalities.
Oguchi Onyewu – (USA/Nigeria) Onyewu’s parents immigrated to the US so that Onyewu’s father could play soccer at Howard University.
Brede Hangeland – (Norway/USA) Now the Norwegian captain, Hangeland was born in Houston, Texas, but his family moved back to Norway when he was two.
Seb Hines – (England/USA) His father is an American, but Leeds-born Hines has represented England at U19 level.
Edgar Castillo – (USA/Mexico) Born in Los Cruces, New Mexico, Castillo represented El Tri four times before switching to play for the United States.
Jonathan Spector – (USA/Germany) Both of his mother’s parents came to the US from Germany, and Spector holds a German passport.
MF:
Stuart Holden – (USA/Scotland) Originally hailing from Aberdeen, Holden’s family moved to Texas when he was 12, and the midfielder made a name for himself with Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo before become a fixture in the USMNT.
Simon Poulsen – (Denmark/USA) Born and raised in Denmark, the AZ midfielder is the son of an American father.
Ryan Smith – (England/USA) English by birth, KC winger Smith’s father is an American. Despite picking up a youth cap for England, speculation has begun that Smith could play for the USA.
Freddy Adu - (USA/Ghana) Once widely tipped to be the first American megastar, Adu was born in Ghana, and courted by the Ghanaian national team before the 2006 World Cup.
Jermaine Jones – (USA/Germany) The son of an American serviceman stationed in Europe, Jones played 3 times for Germany before opting to change to the US team.
Danny Szetela – (USA/Poland) New Jersey product Szetela played at various youth levels for the US, but briefly considered playing his senior football for Poland
Sacha Kljestan – (USA/Bosnia) The owner of the worst mustache in American soccer, Kljestan’s father played semi-professionally in Serbia.
Benny Feilhaber – (USA/Brazil/Austria) The playmaker was born in Brazil, and his paternal grandfather fled WW2 Austria, making him eligible for three different nations.
Maurice Edu - (USA/Nigeria) The defensive midfielder boasts two parents from Nigeria.

FW:
Landon Donovan – (USA/Canada) Quite possibly the best player the US has ever produced, Donovan’s father is from Canada. I think we can safely say he’s ours, though.
Giuseppe Rossi – (Italy/USA) You know about it, I know about it. Moving on.
Jozy Altidore – (USA/Haiti) The USA’s resident prodigy is quite famously a son of two Haitian parents.
Herculez Gomez – (USA/Mexico) Both of Gomez’s parents were Mexican immigrants to the USA.

Obama Asks Congress to Fix Crisis of His Own Making;
Demand that Congress Change Policy, Not Just Write a Blank Check!
Dear James,
Facing an out-of-control flow of illegal alien minors across the southern border, President Obama is now asking Congress to fix this crisis — one of his own making.
Since his first day in office, President Obama has blatantly refused to enforce our immigration laws. Under the guise of "prosecutorial discretion" he has ordered immigration agents to essentially ignore all illegal aliens who have not been convicted of violent crimes. Removals of illegal alien minors have dropped nearly 80 percent during his Administration. Even President Obama's former director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) unapologetically declared that the chances of the average illegal being deported are "close to zero."
Now, President Obama is asking Congress to pick up the pieces of these disastrous policies. Yesterday, the President sent an official request to Congress to provide $3.7 billion in additional funding to federal agencies dealing with the tens of thousands of illegal alien minors in the U.S. who now need shelter, care, and processing for removal.
However, under the President's funding request, most of the money ($1.8 billion) will actually go to care for the illegal alien minors as they stay in the U.S. Additional portions will go to adding judges, attorneys (including attorneys to represent the illegal aliens), and detention space. Hundreds of millions of dollars will also be sent to countries in Central America to help them receive their own nationals.
Incredibly, none of the money will be used to add Border Patrol or ICE agents, who are being pulled off the job to process and care for illegal alien minors. And the President is not requesting funding to deploy the National Guard to the border so that Border Patrol and ICE agents can return to their jobs of protecting our country.
Additional funding — if actually used as promised — might help ease the chaos, but it will not solve the crisis. But with immigration courts already facing a backlog of over 360,000 cases, speeding up the process will only go so far.
That's why we must demand that Congress condition any additional funding on making meaningful policy changes. In short, Congress must:

  • Change the process: Congress must amend federal law to allow the government to promptly remove alien minors from Central America. Current law requires the government to place minors from Central America in formal removal proceedings, which can take years and usually results in the alien minors staying in the U.S. permanently. Instead federal law should allow the government to promptly remove minors from Central America without formal proceedings, as the law allows with respect to minors from Mexico.

  • Secure the border: Require and fund the deployment of the National Guard so that Border Patrol and ICE agents can do their jobs and protect our country;

  • End administrative amnesties: Significantly restrict the Obama Administration from using policies that shield illegal aliens from removal, such as deferred action, parole-in-place, etc.
Call your Senators and Representatives NOW and
demand they make these policy changes before funding the President's request!
Tell them if they don't, they will simply be flushing money down the drain, and the President's policies will continue to encourage illegal immigration.

Soccer is a weird sport. The players are very athletic etc but it is the fans that degrade the sport. I know this is a political forum but this is mainly a sports forum so I feel like I can touch on this subject. I walked into my local Buffalo Wild Wings during a game and everyone was shouting USA. I can dig that because the crowd was a mixture of liberals and conservatives, democrats and republicans, independents, and just plain soccer nuts. I can see supporting out team, no problem with that. But while at the game a friend googled the roster and told me that only one native born team member for the USA was actually born in the USA, the rest were “dual citizens.” The coach was from a foreign country also.

Can someone please explain to me why the USA cannot field a team comprised only of native born citizens or players who renounce their foreign citizenship to become U.S. citizens. But when I hear a crowd shouting USA I am concerned that is a legitimate cheer. Why can’t the USA team be comprised of men and women who grew up in the USA as boys and girls, learned the sport, developed into world class players, and went on to represent the USA the way it probably should be done. I admit I am not a big soccer fan. I also wonder if the World Cup would have gotten as much attention had it been held during American Football season, Pro and College.

Maybe I am old school but when I hear people yell USA it is a sign of unification. I am not against immigration, legal immigration that is, but next thing you know we will be accepting players who just walked over the border or so it seems.
I love the USA and I know this country is a melting pot but I think the pot has melted or at least deteriorated to the point where our true identity as a nation is in a state of disarray and confusion.

Can’t wait for pro and college football to begin, maybe then I will feel a little bit better about this kind of stuff. By the way, how many foreigners become dual citizens so they can play pro football. Just wondering.

Dear James,
The American people are vulnerable to an uncontrolled immigration crisis! Already tens of thousands of illegal aliens have spilled across the border this year--the problem is spiraling out of control.
Watch my video about the challenges we have faced that led up to this crisis, and what FAIR and our members can do to hold the President accountable for his role in it!
Congress and "we the people" get to decide who comes in and how many. When citizens from other countries hear the President of the United States of America demand amnesty even if he has to do it himself -- they take his word as the law of the land. If FAIR members don't stand up, our nation may lose our ability to control immigration and determine our national destiny.
Our forefathers designed our government with checks and balances to prevent a tyranny. What can we do when a president takes it upon himself to start rewriting immigration laws?FAIR aims to limit this dangerous precedent. Watch as I explore our options and ask for your help in putting our nation's immigration system back on track.
Sincerely,

MAP: WHERE FEDS ARE TRYING TO RELOCATE ILLEGAL BORDER SURGERS

UPDATED:

Wed, JUL2nd 2014 @ 3:04 pm EDT

Since the border surge gained coverage from the mainstream media last month, the Obama Administration has tried to relocate tens of thousands of newly-arrived illegal aliens to communities across the country.
Sign the petition asking your three Members of Congress to fight the relocation!
Click on the symbols on the map for name of each location and what is happening there. Below the map is the KEY for the symbols.
relocation-map-key.png

As with all maps, you can zoom in and out, and click and drag the map for a different view. (For a larger version of this map click here. You can see a full list of all the communities in the left column. )
NumbersUSA is daily updating this interactive map to show which communities are under threat of the federal government moving large numbers of illegal aliens there from the border.
NumbersUSA is providing its members actions they can take to help stop the government's dispersal of illegal aliens in a way that usually means they never go back home. Because people living in communities across the Americas rarely see one of their neighbors ever returned after illegally entering the United States, most of the population in those countries believe crossing the border illegally will bring great rewards.
Become more actively involved by clicking here to send messages to your three Members of Congress to block relocations in your state.
If you have any information about additional communities being targets for relocation -- or if you can correct or add to the information we already have on communities -- please email it to Melanie Oubre at: moubre@numbersusa.com

This people are not coming because of violence on their countries, they are coming, because they see the opportunity to be admitted right away in America, due to the policies of the Obama administration and the executive amnesty to the dreamers. All this kids are coming with at least one of the parents, or a family member, who are just bringing them to the border to cross illegally and them turn into the border patrol to be admitted, under the policies of this administration and the advice of the open border advocates.
I am a Hispanic from the area in question, fluent in the Spanish language and I saw the interviews done by Univision, the Hispanic TV station and watch the news there every day and there is no dough in my mind, that they are coming, because news of Obamas lax policies on immigration and his executive amnesty to the dreamers, travel fast in Latin America and they just want a piece of the pie, nothing else. Violence have been a way of life in those areas and it is nothing new. As McCain said, there is worse violence in many other countries of the world and they are not here. We also have violence in many parts of America, specially those that illegal choose to live, and in reality it won't be must of a change for them. This kids in their majority, are using this as a tool to come reunite with their illegal family here, nothing else. According to the Hispanic media, at least 75% have parents here waiting for them and all the excuses of the Obama administration, are just that excuses to try to ease their way into the next election.
