URGENT ACTION

MUCH MORE THAN AN AMNESTY -- 'Gang' bill would give out 33 MILLION lifetime work permits to foreign citizens in first decade
Please take action today to let your Members of Congress know that YOU know that this bill would give out 33 million lifetime work permits to foreign citizens in the first decade -- and perhaps 20 million every decade after that.
33 million!!!!!
That's the number our analysts came up with after nearly two weeks deciphering the 844-page bill created by the "Senate Gang of Eight" to give amnesty to illegal aliens.
AMNESTY IS THE TROJAN HORSE .............................. FILLED WITH FAR WORSE DANGERS
Unbelievably, the 11 million illegal aliens to be given work permits are merely the visible Trojan Horse. As bad as that amnesty is, it is distracting the nation from the fact that inside the bill is something far worse than the amnesty -- WORK PERMITS FOR 22 MILLION FOREIGN CITIZENS in addition to the 11 million illegal aliens!
11 million + 22 million = 33 million.
And the 33 million is just the first 10 years. It looks like the bill possibly could dole out around 20 million lifetime work permits every decade after that. We're still working on those numbers.
33 million is the number that should start every conversation about the "comprehensive immigration reform" bill being rushed through the Senate Judiciary Committee by Chairman Pat Leahy (D-Vermont).
And it's the number that has to stop this bill before it can do unalterable damage to our country. No matter what your Members of Congress may think about giving an amnesty to 11 million, they can't possibly justify immediately over the next decade adding 33 million more potential competitors for scarce U.S. jobs.
LIKE ADDING 20 LARGEST U.S. CITIES ............................ ALL OVER AGAIN
Our cities, suburbs, towns and rural areas already have 20 million Americans who want a full-time job but can't find one.
It is hard to imagine what adding another 33 million foreign citizens with work permits would look like.
But try this:
33 million is like adding an entire new city of New York, PLUS . . .

. . . adding duplicate cities of Los Angeles, Houston, Philadelphia, Phoenix and San Antonio, PLUS . . .
. . . also adding duplicate cities of San Diego, Dallas, San Jose, Jacksonville and Indianapolis, PLUS . . .
. . . finally adding duplicates of Austin, San Francisco, Columbus, Fort Worth, Charlotte, Detroit, El Paso, Memphis and Boston!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Congress passes this bill it would be like re-creating ALL of the Top 20 cities in the United States, filling them entirely with foreign citizens and giving them lifetime work permits to compete with America's struggling workers -- and in just 10 years time.
icon-action-fax.png
Protest the 33 Million NOW
AT THIS MOMENT, YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS PROBABLY DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE 33 MILLION.
"33 million" is the number that should finally shake your Members of Congress out of any infatuation they have with this comprehensive amnesty bill.
Fax: https://www.numbersusa.com/faxes?ID=14662
Phone: https://www.numbersusa.com/phones?ID=14663
The authors of this bill have claimed that they never stopped to add up the total number of foreign workers that this bill would add to the job competition in America.
Can you believe it? Actually, I may believe it because I don't think they want to know. They just want to give every Robber Baron corporate lobbist whatever foreign workforce they demand in return for their campaign contributions. Nobody stops to calculate what it all adds up to.
Well, we at NumbersUSA always believe that numbers matter.
Especially, these numbers:
33 million (new work permits to foreign citizens over the next decade)
20 million (Americans who can't find a full-time job)
What kind of state would allow its Senators to vote to do that to the most vulnerable, needy and struggling citizens of their jurisdiction?
I hope you will help make it clear to your Senators that your state won't tolerate that kind of callousness.

Adding Another CA to the USA: 33 Million More People

Loopholes Allow Entitlements Before Citizenship
CA to Suffer Disproportionately
Give Today

Dear Subscriber,
Ready to add another 33 million people to the USA?
If this latest amnesty bill goes through, it will nearly add another California to the United States.
By 2024, an estimated 9.2 million illegal aliens will be granted amnesty, plus 2.5 million illegal aliens who arrived as children – the ‘Dreamers’ – AND another 22 million work permits will be handed out over the next decade...that's 33 million more people!
California is already more populated than Canada or Australia, claiming more than 38 million people, with a fraction of the land mass.
This costs our beloved state dearly.
Regarding amnesty costs alone (not to mention our state's teetering quality of life and environmental degradation), here are some CA stats worth sharing with your friends:

  1. Historically 25% of all immigrants settle in California even though only 12% of the nation's population resides here
  2. And, although only 12% of the US population resides in CA, we claim 34% of the country's welfare recipients!
  3. As of 2009 data, 61% of CA immigrants with children under 18 use some type of welfare program (it should be noted that this was found to be due to low education and skill levels rather than an unwillingness to work - many illegal aliens are working but still qualify for entitlement programs)
The costs of amnesty to CA alone will be staggering.
In the November, 2012 now infamous Forbes article "Death Spiral States," William Baldwin warns investors to stay away from all of California, urging "Don’t buy a house in a state where private sector workers are outnumbered by folks dependent on government."
Per Baldwin, CA has 1.39 "takers" compared to every one "maker." Baldwin claims that "A taker is someone who draws money from the government, as an employee, pensioner or welfare recipient. A maker is someone gainfully employed in the private sector."
While this article was grossly misrepresented in a viral email that claimed more Californians were on welfare than were working, it provides valuable cautionary information.
Baldwin acknowledges that illegal aliens play a significant role in our state's financial woes by citing an article by CAPS Advisory Board Member Victor Davis Hanson stating that:
"California has the nation’s largest population of illegal aliens, on whom it spends an estimated $10 billion annually in entitlements. The illegals also deprive the Golden State’s economy of billions of dollars every year by sending remittances to Latin America."
And, as you know, CA is not on sure footing:

  1. California's official debt stands at more than $132 billion (but has been estimated to be $648 billion to $1.1 trillion depending on how pension liabilities are calculated)
  2. California's unemployment rate is 9.6% (tied with Nevada and Mississippi as the highest in the nation as of late March)
  3. To put that in human terms, nearly 1,750,000 fellow Californians are out of work!
We simply cannot allow this amnesty bill - letting 33 million more people into the country and offering loopholes for immediate entitlement programs - to pass. Your financial help is needed to save California for today and tomorrow. While small in overhead and paid staff, CAPS continues to make a difference by letting your voice be heard. Please give today to keep the ads running and faxes arriving in legislators' inboxes.

[h=3]What the Media's Not Saying About Gang of Eight Amnesty Bill[/h]By Jeremy Beck, Thursday, May 2, 2013, 9:30 AM EDT
picture-67.jpg
The Senate Judiciary Committee will mark up S. 744 (aka: "The Gang of Eight" immigration bill) on May 9th despite less than half of American knowing even basic details about the legislation. According to Pew Research, only 37 percent of Americans know that the bill was introduced by a bipartisan group of Senators, and only 47 percent are aware that the legislation would allow illegal aliens to stay in the country and apply for citizenship. The media hasn't had a lot of time to give the American public many details about the bill, so here is a partial list of under-reported details that have been discovered by people sifting through S. 744's 844 pages:
33 million new permanent workers via legalization and expanded immigration in first decade:The author's of S. 744 have been quiet on the question of numbers but NumbersUSA estimates that S. 744 would add an additional 33 million permanent workers via amnesty and future immigration in the first decade alone. Thirty three million is the equivalent of the top 20 most populated cities in the United States.
Illegal workers who never filed tax returns would not have to pay back taxes: Page 68 defines the tax requirements for illegal aliens that are eligible for amnesty under the bill. The tax clause states:
An alien may not file an application for registered provisional immigrant status under paragraph (1) unless the applicant has satisfied any applicable Federal tax liability.
The bill then defines the term "applicable Federal tax liability" as all Federal income taxes assessed in accordance with section 6203 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. In other words, illegal aliens that have filed a tax return and owe taxes to the federal government will have to pay those taxes before they can receive amnesty, but those who were paid off the books or simply failed to file a tax return will not.
Protection for illegal identity thieves, but no restitution for victims: Analysis from Ron Mortenson found: "government employees (who have sworn an oath to the Constitution to faithfully discharge their duties) who uncover Social Security fraud, identity theft, or perjury on I-9 forms while reviewing applications for provisional status would be prohibited from notifying victims, law enforcement, etc. (pp. 92, 120) If government employees do report the crimes, they could be fined $10,000. This is 10 times more than the $1,000 penalty paid by an illegal alien who has committed felony identity theft. (pp. 84, 120, 130-134)."
Simply put, amnestied aliens who have stolen the identities of Americans would be given a new Social Security number and a clean slate while their victims are left to spent countless hours and money clearing up their stolen records.
Illegal employers get amnesty, too: "Employers who have illegal immigrants on their payroll can keep them there with no penalty; there is no assessment of back taxes for their employees who worked off the books; those who paid unfair wages will not be prosecuted; and those who aided fraud by accepting bogus Social Security numbers won't face a penalty." (Stephen Dinan, "Immigration bill grants amnesty to employers of illegals; no prosecution for bogus IDs" Washington Times, April 29, 2013).
Loopholes to ensure legalized aliens get benefits earlier than claimed: Sen. Sessions' office found several loopholes that would get around the claim that newly-legalized aliens would not access public benefits. According to page 91 of the bill, all illegal aliens granted legalized RPI status would be considered by the legal definition, "lawfully present."
According to the Sessions memo, "state laws frequently extend benefits to anyone 'lawfully present' in the U.S."
The Sessions team points to a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) brief that details how the only requirement many state and local governments have with regard to immigrant access to public benefits is that they are "lawfully present."
Under the new bill, one does not have to be financially stable to receive RPI status. According to the Sessions' memo the legislation "explicitly forbids" the DHS from using current law, that blocks those who could become dependent on the state.
According to analysis from Senator Sessions' office, "The bill provides a five-year pathway to citizenship for 2--3 million illegal immigrants--of any age, including those previously deported--who claim DREAM eligibility. These illegal immigrants will be eligible for all federal assistance--and will be able to bring in an unlimited number of parents, spouses, and children in just five years. Illegal ag workers will get green cards in five years and will be able to apply for citizenship in 10. The families of illegal immigrants (including elderly parents) now living outside the country will be eligible for federal benefits as soon as 10 years from the passage of the bill."

Earlier today, the Heritage Foundation released its analysis on the fiscal costs to U.S. taxpayers should the Gang of Eight's amnesty bill pass in Congress. The study found that an amnesty for the nation's 11 million illegal aliens would cost taxpayers $6.3 trillion over the lifetime of the illegal aliens. The study compared dozens of ways that the government would collect taxes and fees from amnestied illegal aliens against the benefits they would receive from the federal government.Read Full Story

Conn Carroll: doing the reporting MSM reporters won't do

It isn't too often that I can recommend good immigration reporting but Conn Carroll of The Examiner has produced must-read columns this week.
Tuesday, he wrote a fascinating column, "Cato and the true costs of low-skill immigration," in which he drew attention to the fact that as recently as one year ago, the Cato Institute was much more skeptical on amnesty and mass immigration.
And yesterday, he blew the Gang of Eight's latest attempt to hide the $6.3 trillion cost of their amnesty out of the water in "Pro-amnesty Republicans push Obamacare tactics on immigration costs."
Feel free to pass along a compliment in the comments section. And keep an eye out for more of Carroll's immigration reporting.

Petition opposing Senate bill for amnesty & more foreign workers

Street Address
City, State Zip
Dear Your Members of Congress and President Obama,
Please oppose the S. 744 immigration bill, that would give out a minimum of 33 million lifetime work permits to foreign citizens in the first decade alone.
The last thing we need when 20 million Americans are unable to find full-time jobs at every level of occupation is for Congress to flood the country with more foreign job-seekers.
S. 744 promises to give work permits to at least 11 million illegal border crossers and visa overstayers. It also would continue the recent elevated flow of 11 million new immigrants a decade. And it would add at least another 11 million the first decade through new immigration categories and increases in existing categories.
It is irrational and cruel to give out 33 million more work permits when millions of Americans who ARE employed are suffering long-term wage depression due to the persistent shortage of jobs and excess of workers.
This billl would give out about the same number of green cards in a single decade as all the immigrants who arrived in the entire last century. No matter what you may think about legalizing most of the current illegal population in this country, you can't possibly justify adding 33 million potential foreign job seekers as competitors for scarce U.S. jobs.
Furthermore, this bill would be a pathway to higher chain migration and massive new social service expenditures in a time of budget deficit and debt crisis. And it would lead to more illegal immigration because it gives the legalization and work permits first with only promises of future enforcement, just like the previous seven amnesties between 1986 and 2000 which had no hard enforcement triggers and served only to entice 11 million new illegal immigrants who now demand their own amnesty.
Sincerely,
First Name Last Name

I disagree with Pedro Rios, that the number of births is minimum and have no effect in the immigration problem, because it does. 160 so call birth emergencies in 2012. plus 15 more in the first 3 months of 2013, at the San Isidro port of entry, relates to 160 +15 illegal mothers who wanted their children to be US citizens, nothing else.
As we all know, once someone give birth in the US, they are eligible to apply for food stamps, medical care, public housing and other benefits, because that child is guarantee US citizenship.
As a conservative Independent Hispanic, I will say to Pedro, enough is enough. This numbers are just the San Isidro port of entry, it does not reflect all the other port of entries alone the long Mexican border and each and everyone of those children, cost tax payers millions, that apparently Mr Rios have no problem on having us pay the bill.
I was first aware of this problem, few years ago, when I was asked to host a student from Camarou Africa, who came in 8 months pregnant and just wanted to have a US baby. I called my Congressman to complain of the abuse, they did an investigation and told me, that this was going on at the border also, under this administration and that if a pregnant woman show up in the last trimester of pregnancy, they have to let them in to have their anchor babies here.
This is been abuse big time by many and need to be stop. The 14 amendment was change for the children of slaves, not for the Mexicans or any one in the world who want to have a US citizen baby and all the privileges and freebies that come with that citizenship, at the cost of taxpayers.
We should be working on taking care of this abuse, instead of trying to legalize law breakers, against the will of the majority of Americans and putting the burden to the tax payers again

How many of you can support a family with 4 kids and save $150,000 in 8 years? Not to many I bet, but today in Univision, Maria Elena Salinas interview an illegal Mexican couple who left Georgia after their anti illegal immigration law was pass, and they went back to Mexico with $150,000 cash and a brand new truck. They build a new house there and they are sorry they left now, because there is no work in Mexico and Obama amnesty, but they left their kids here, 3 born in Mexico and 1 anchor baby, a guarantee return for them, under this new amnesty drive.
Now, you may ask how they manage to save so much and it is easy to figure it out. According to what they say, the last kid was born right after they arrive here, the father arrive first by train and them got into a big trailer to go more in land. Them he send for his wife and 3 kids, who have no problem getting in either. [We are taking about our secure border here] The 4th kid was an anchor baby and through him they got housing, welfare, medical and all kind of freebies, courtesy of American tax payers, that this liberal government have no problem giving away for us. In other words, they were illegal, work under someone else identity and could save all their money, because we were supporting their family, through their anchor baby and they were making money under another name.
This is enough to get any body angry and unfortunately, there are many like this guys up there, just abusing our system, awhile many Americans are suffering out of work and not able to support their families. This need to end, we need to stand and say no to amnesty and like they do, DEMAND the enforcement of ALL OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS.

During the markup of S.744, Sens.
