the obvious inference is that she could pass for younger
well they're being punished because 1 is an adult who is in a position to manipulate a minor, regardless if the adult offender is a male or femaleHow is it that we as a species can accomplish so much, be so "Smart" (supposedly anyways) yet we cannot figure out that theres multiple very good and sound reasons that a Male Teacher with an underage GIRL is not something that should happen (due to "development" of the female brain, Dependency Issues, "position of control" i.e. BlackMail/Undue Leverage among many other factors) but Female Teacher with Boy Student is totally different, possibly the most "Apples to Oranges" comparison there could be?
I can't imagine any Psychologist would even attempt to disagree with that, try to say: "They're the same."
I don't feel like I'm tryin' to argue against some "punishment" for these Female Teachers as....I guess having them go unpunished would be to "encourage" such behavior which one could forsee leading to problems.....I guess I'm just surprised that it feels like we are expected to perceive these two vastly different scenarios as even remotely similar to one another when it seems obvious to me at least that they are not.

the reflexive nature of most men saying they would totally have sex with their teacher is from the inherent idea that despite the difference in age, they are a man and they are (still) superior to a woman regardless of age.
when a girl chooses to have a relationship with their teacher, they are perceived as being naive, manipulated, and not knowing what they really want (or at least this is what i would tell my hypothetical daughter if she were ever to be so...stupid)
ultimately it is inappropriate for students and their teachers to have relationships regardless of the gender of the teacher. in my opinion for the teacher, it's about being a professional and eliminating all potential suspicion of exploiting their position of power and influence. for me i feel students in general just don't make good decisions. legally if they're 18 and decide to have a relationship after he/she graduates, i guess that would be somewhat appropriate (not sure exactly what the law is, but if it says it's ok then i guess it's ok). but in general i think you and i would agree we all did pretty stupid shit in our teens and 20s, and just because you're older doesn't really mean you make good decisions. i think it's appropriate the law try to weed out bad decisions by making the age limit of adulthood 18.
