A big reason that alcohol prohibition ended in the 1930's was because during the depression people just had nothing to do all day but get drunk. That was a big part of the movement really.

The way things are going, they better legalize weed fast. Throw people a bone for the next few years.

Scott, I’m one of the posters who said it wouldn’t happen and I’m surprised it did. Did you really expect Khan say he is in favor of Sharia law? He lives in the USA, his kids live here, his life as he knows it would cease to exist if he did.

I think he now realizes that being suckered into the limelight by the Clinton campaign was not a good move on his part. He assures us he’s an educated person. Did he really think his background wasn’t going to be scrutinized?

He bought himself a big shit sandwich by giving that speech. I don’t know what Clinton offered him in exchange but whatever it was it better have been huge.

IMHO he’s in now in damage control. If I were him I’d simply disappear until this blows over which will happen in a couple of weeks if he just shuts his pie hole. 99% of the general public didn’t know this guy and six months from now no one will remember him.

You say he’s the type of Muslim we need not fear and I agree but I wouldn’t trust him in any way, shape or form.

Dave I don't think there's any way a Muslim who believes in sharia would deny it publicly. Sharia is so woven into the DNA of its adherents I don't think they can cover their intent. I've now listened to several hours of this man talking about his love for the US and our freedoms. He didn't try to talk his son out of risking and giving his life for this country either. It just does not jibe with fundamentalist Islam. Until I see iron clad proof of anything else I'll call him a patriot. If shown otherwise I'll admit my error. I still don't like his use as a vehicle for the DNC though, that stinks.

I don’t a bone to pick with Cruz but if he’s so fucking great how come he lost to Trump? And that goes for all the other primary candidates.

You can Rubio this and Kasich that but they weren’t nominated. They lost. Get over it.

Blatant Lie, by a blatant Liar, FRINGY. But what else is new from this Hypocritical coward, who calls People Anti Semites who aren't, but runs and hides when he has the opportunity to call actual Anti Semites and Pro Terrorism Scum Out.

By now you should have everyone convinced about me ;-)

Yeah, of course. But I think you can make the case that a big reason there was a push to "normalize" was because of bad economic times.

You actually see this today with the weed legalization all around the country, if there isn't really a belief that we're moving forward, then why not just let people smoke weed all day?

I know it is a little too philosophical as other reasons are responsible for these shifts as well but the similarities are interesting.

An overwhelming majority of Americans agree: the government SUCKS!

You would think out of 320 million people, we could find a candidate who could articulate this properly. Conservative or libertarian, it shouldn't matter...so long as they fully understand and adhere to the Constitution. Preferably a candidate with an edge and attitude not to be messed with...

Personalities like Penn Jillette or Jesse Ventura would thrive in this anti-establishment cycle.

Absolutely no more establishment global progressives of any kind.

Not a chance. Jillette is a liberal atheist and Ventura is a 9/11 nut.

Was about to type similar. Cruz is no lock vs Hillary in a debate either. What he did at the convention was political suicide. And that's a shame, because the excerpt from the speech Joe posted is great. But then after that he went full troll.

Isn't Jillette libertarian? RC is always pimping him.

Yeah but on socal issues he's way left. He's also anti-recycling. That's like being anti global warming, a curse to your candadicy. H's a comedian who uses magic to get laid. Probably a pretty happy guy where he is.

I sat next to him at a restaurant at a Thai restaurant in Vegas once. Chick he was with was not very attractive given he is a celeb.

See post #94. It’s a leopard spot thingy, he can’t have it both ways. Maybe he can claim is was born again but I’m not buying what he’s selling.

Dave, does that make sense re the weed/alcohol?

It is probably somewhat coincidental, but also telling.

I understand your POV Dave. If these writings are reported somewhere besides Breitbart, like the WSJ maybe then he'll be cornered. But Breitbart survives on clicks so I'm waiting.

I remember a story awhile back that goes like this. Israel apprehended Mohammed Atta for a suspected terror plot. Unfortunately there was not enough evidence to go to trial so they released him. Four years later he was a key figure in bringing the WTC down. And the story travelled around the globe and I'm sure some still believe it. But it was a different guy with the same name. So we'll see.....

You are late to the party again RR. The website is shut down because it can't handle the volume of traffic, and Khan is not seeking new clients at this time.

I understand your POV also. You want to see the good in people. I just don’t think Khan is a good guy.

We’ll have to what and see how it plays out.
