A four year old does not know right from wrong. You don't whip a four year old.

I have no problem with paddles and belts and such for teens who misbehave. Not something I would use but I believe parents have a right to parent within reason. Breaking skin in a 4 year old is assault.

I don't' know - honestly, I seen some child abuse and it is usually when the parent give their kids black eyes and big ass bruises all over their face/body and it is usually done out of drunkeness/anger etc.

To me, this is a spanking with a switch/belt and for disciplinarian reasons which I remember seeing my fair share. He appeared to text the mother and explain to her what he did, when he did it and some remorse about it but still felt justified as a parent.

To me, It is different from child abuse but this is where everyone will have a different perspective. So to each his own..

All I know is, it is a very bad time to be going through this AP...

Disgusting. I don't believe in "spanking". Horrible parenting. Most parents who spank their kids do it out of frustration and not some greater purpose. I don't see how violence teaches anyone anything other than violence is the last resort when things don't work.

What makes this worse is this is 4 year old. Kids that age have the attention span of like 5 minutes. You shouldn't even put them in timeout more than 5-10 minutes because they forget why they are in timeout in the first place.

Based on that article this guy abusing his kids. I think he should be punished and upon release, child services should do periodic checks on the kids well being.
