I can't believe I'm cheering you on, but good luck and keep it up, after several month you will be amazed at how healthy you feel, which will only motivate you to lose more weight.

Wow...That's a good go Hog, especially considering the weather. It's good you are making yourself go out in the cold...determination and consitency is key. But you might want to think about investing in a treadmill. Pneumonia can put a real damper on the work outs.

wcbias,i love mother nature and all that goes with it,,a treadmill is so boring, drives me insane,id rather do 1hr outside in the cold than 30 minutes on a treadmill,,,i vary my route evey day and just go where my nose leads me,,also in my experience,a treadmill is too easy, all ye gotta do is lift your legs up,,thanks for the suggestion,,if it gets too bad i can go to walmart

I walk about 10 miles a day 3 times a week (work related ) there is nothing better, you feel a cleanliness within the lungs that I can't explain unless you've experienced it.

HogNuts, Ive noticed that your walking time differs from day to day, are you walking the same distance every day or mixing it up? Youre obviously getting fitter as well as losing weight, but it would be interesting to see how much your times have improved, along with the weight loss if you were walking the same distance/course every day.

Im planning on getting back into running again fully next month when I move into an apartment complex that has a gym and treadmills. Im going to run the same distance every time ( 5 miles ) and keep a log of weight loss and the time it takes to run the distance. Im actually looking forward to it as I find running quite addictive once I drag my ass off the couch and attack the first week of training.

sky,i made a committment on thanksgiving day to walk for a minimum of one hour every day for 30 days,,i usually just set my watch and take off to parts unknown,i live close to a soccer field that is 1 mile rectangle so when i go there i know exactly how many miles i have walked,,im finding out that you have to try and keep it fresh so some evenings i drive to another lil community and check it out,,,ive also found that a gym and or treadmill bores me to death,,so to answer your question,,i go to a different spot almost evey day and im lovin it,before long i hope to be doin 5 miles a day,,,im goin to do whatever it takes,,,ive been sick and ashamed of my obese ass for too damned long,,please get started back joggin,,damd fat sneaks up on ye if you dont exercise,

70 minutes and its 19 degrees outside==o u ch ,,,when its very cold i dont push it,,just go slow and find me a few lil hills to climb,,these 48 inch at the waist pants are becoming almost comfortable,,,the truth is i can button them without being afraid im goin to smother myself to death by holding it in,,might not seem like much to a person who isnt obese but it sure feels good to me,,one of the motivating factors for me was that i was goin to need some bigger pants very soon,,they were so tight it hurt.

Keep up the good work Hognuts, I have been in your shoes. I lost almost 50lbs in 3 months a few years back and have been doing my best to keep it off ever since.

On Xmas Day 2002 I weighed 238lbs and 3 months later I was 190lbs. In the end it wasnt that hard. Basically I went to the gym 3 or 4 times a week and would run anywhere from 5 to 7 miles per visit on the treadmill and would end it with some crunches. I ate nothing but fruit before 6pm ( usually 2 apples and 2 oranges ) and after 6pm would eat normally. I would give myself a spoil by eating junk food once a week, more as a reward than anything else.

For those naysayers who say that drinking is bad for weightloss, read on and thank me later. In the same 3 month period, I drank more beer than I have ever drank in my life in an equivalent period. The key ( that I found ), is not to eat after you have started your drinking. As is well known, alcohol slows down your metabolism and thus any fats digested take a lot longer to be broken down. So anything you eat after you have started your drinking session will take a lot longer to be broken down by the body. So my suggestion is to do what most normal people do and drink until you pass out and then go and sleep it off on an empty stomach.

The past two years I have worked nightshift and have found it very hard to motivate myself to get back into my running, however I am moving into a new apartment next month and the one proviso was that it had a gym so that I could start my running again. I dont have any boredom issues running on a treadmill and I find that the give in the rubber is great for my back as it takes stress off my body.

I am looking forward to starting my exercise campaign and I will keep you posted with updates.

P.S. While I lost that weight I was taking HYDROXYCUT tablets. Whether they helped or were just a placebo I will never know, but I will be using them again next month. I was kicking myself after I lost the weight because I should have taken before and after pics of myself and contacted Hydroxycut and tried to get payment as a before and after customer.

The less obstacles between me and the gym the better. At least now I only have to find the elevator to get my ass to the gym.

The 2 mile drive would be enough to get me thinking twice about exercising.

Good luck to you, keep up the good work.
