"As for what is an active account? IF YOU HAVE TO ASK THIS QUESTION BEFORE TAKING A PAYOUT, U R A BONUS WHORE!!!"
-------------------------------

Froggy:

I know what you are saying here, but this is not always the case.

As mentioned, in my case I made about 5 sports bets per week and I was not certain if this was "Active Enough" for 5Dimes.

One of the reasons that I had doubts about this was because, at some other sportsbooks who have programs such as "10% cashback on losses", I have read the fine print and it often states that to qualify for these programs, you must "make at least 1 bet per day" or "at least 1 bet per week" or "a minimum of 10 bets per week"

I agree, this bettor did not maintain an Active account for the 30 days, but it is not as cut-and-dried as you claim in determining whether or not an account is active. Hell, there are lots of times when I go away when I don't place any bets for a week or two.

The problem with "Active" is it does not specify what is meant. Is active 1 play a month? If so the player qualified.

The book should pay and define "active".

Uncle B:
How can you call that a "good post" with "good points" when the guy LIED about me? Or is LYING an accepted way of discrediting a poster who is merely defending the player's point of view and DEMANDING some ACCOUNTABILITY from the sports book industry?

It's posters like you that have me so fukking CYNICAL of this industry in the first place and I'm not the only one who is starting to think that way. See, I never complain here about how *I* got screwed on a bonus or when a shit book runs off with everyone's money after the TRUE bonus whores pump them up on the forums, because I'M SMART ENOUGH TO PLAY AT THE MOST SOLID BOOKS and I DON'T PLAY AT A BOOK BECAUSE THEY OFFER A BONUS.

When the Usual Suspects start crawling from the gutter and call me a liar and a bonus whore then it's time for me to drop the thread. Besides, you all know how I feel and there's nothing more I can say on this subject. Just don't go crying to me when this industry goes down the shitter in a few years because the players don't trust it anymore and the government has made you illegal.

5 Dimes is a fvcking solid shop. The guys put up far more odds than many big books. They pay quickly and are building a solid reputation through hard work and honesty.

You guys can get as semantic as you feel like. What does "active" mean? WHo defines really the word "active"?

Seriously, any player who says that being active means playing through the first 5 days and then idle to cash out. WTF happens to the other 25 days? (Just hypothtical numbers, but definitelya good example of what's going on here).

The way I see, 5Dimes has spoken. Whatever anybody has to say has really very little to do with reality.

Those who understand the value of a good shop with great variety, like 5Dimes, will continue to play with them. All those who are resorting to this "active" crock of shite to bash a good book... MOVE ON. You'll miss it.

UNfvckingbelievable.

I think it is very important that Bookmakers who offer bonuses and then set criteria to those bonuses need to be very clear by specifying such criteria up-front. Fair enough?

My personal believe is that Bookmakers omit and/or deliberately create ambiguous worded criteria (rules) creating issues upon themselves that could have easily been avoided by initially being clear.

Moreover, a "roll-over" requirement (IMO) implies "activity," while ADDING the word "active" without specifically defining such is unethical. Can we agree?

Concluding, there is no real need to determine whether an account is, or has been, active if an “adequate” rollover requirement is met.

Below is one a copy of an e-mail sent to one of our bonus hunting friends. It might even be the exact e-mail sent to our friend who started the thread. They all have the same theme, so this one will work for our purposes.

Dear Customer,

Please inform bet2gamble.com and your Israeli forums that you attempted a classic example of bonus hunting. Let them know that further attempts meeting the same criteria will be treated in the same manner. Below are a list of rules which have been posted on the 5Dimes website since its inception.

(Bonuses earned after deposits and Sportsbook/Casino transfers are only valid if the amount deposited remains active in the account for 30 days.) "Active" means wagers occur. When an account has no wagers for over an extended period, it is deemed inactive.

(Closing an account after bonus funds are earned from blackjack play which only marginally exceed the required play for earning the bonus will result in an account being placed in the Unified Gaming negative database. Bonus-hunters are not welcome at 5Dimes Casino.) We feel this rule speaks for itself in this case.

Your account was active less than 6 hours until your reached the goal $2,000 to get your bonus. The total amount wagered was $2,058. The account then was "in-active" for an extended period before the redemption request was placed.

5Dimes is only interested in customers who wish to BET, not BONUS HUNT. It is customers like yourself that have caused this industry to have to write all these rules to protect itself from those trying to earn a quick buck. By enforcing all the rules posted on the site, we ensure the capability to pay the "true" gamblers who win. Please let all your friends know that bonus games are not tolerated here.
5D

One thing about bonus hunters, the more rules you make up, and the more defined you are about them, the more ways they'll find to break them. The definiation of the word "active" seems to be a hot topic. 5Dimes has listed no set definition for the word "active" in its rules pages. The term "margininally exceeded" has not been defined either. 5Dimes is not about to draw a map for what it takes to bonus hunt. 5Dimes is also not about to reduce its bonuses based on the actions of a few bonus hunters. Should the bonuses of the legitimate gamblers be changed or eliminated completely becuase a few are trying to "cash in" on what is again very clearly a waste of time? I hope this thread sinks into the minds of every bonus-hunter out there. If I'm looking to bonus-hunt, the first thing on my mind is... "I'd better not even bother with 5Dimes, they're not going to put up with my bullshit."

I still think the word "active" should be defined. While it's pretty clear this player was a bonus hunter the ambiguity of a term which clearly no one knows and possibly not even the book will one day hurt a real player.

The policy is aimed at bonus hunters but will eventually hit Joe Sixpack and damage 5Dimes. It's very similar to CRIS's past loyalty policy. CRIS then defined the rules and players and book benefited from the clarity.

SPIVE:

I think rules are created in any game with one goal: to provide a common ground of agreement for all parts involved. And although the basic rules are set, there will be more than one occassion when the rules will only be the beginning of a negotiation.

In business, as in life, people with a bit of common sense are less likely to run into difficulties. As I said before, one might wanna get semantic about the use of the word "active".

Active: Being in a state of action; not quiescent

quiescent

\Qui*es"cent\, a. [L. quiescens, -entis, p. pr. of quiescere: cf. F. quiescent. See Quiesce.] 1. Being in a state of repose; at rest; still; not moving; as, a quiescent body or fluid.

2. Not ruffed with passion; unagitated; not in action; not excited; quiet; dormant; resting.

Being strictly semantic, what would you consider an inert account for 25 days? Inactive?

Why would anybody consider him/her self eligible to something they didn't have coming, simply because they didn't comply with previously stated rules?

We once again come to a point where our opinions diverge. We both might get as anal as we wish, but the fact of the matter is that NOTHING of what is said here will change the decision taken by the book in this instance.

What now? To play or not to play? Once again, we will be put in a position where we have to make a decision.

Rx'ers will read, think and proceed accordingly.
In the mean time, let me tell you waht I consider highly unethical. To me lack of ethics is trying to distort the reality, ignoring common sense to claim of your own, something that you haven't acquired through honorable means.

What were Damian's buddy true intentions? Was he being honorable? At this point it doesn't really matter; because instead of trying alternate ways of dialogue, the guy chose to expose his "situation" in the forums.

It might seem ridiculous, but the player is causing damage to his own reputation only. Ask any booker if they'd like to take his action? Oh wait, maybe he feels the anonymity of these forums will protect his unexistent reputation?

GREED might be good for some SPIVE, I too think it's within human nature to be ambitious, but don't expect people to remain happy and at ease when you try to buttfvck them.

I wouldn't bring a knife to a gun fight.

A player cannot be held to rules or be expected to play by rules, which are ambiguously worded or undefined.

If 5Dimes cannot clearly state the rules, terms and conditions, which govern play up-front...why would anyone play there?
