13) VCU 84, LSU 82— VCU’s coaches have it in their contracts that if they bolt for greener pa$ture$, their new team has to play a home/home series with VCU; this was Will Wade’s visit back home— he was not warmly received. Guys wearing fake FBI uniforms wee sitting by the LSU bench.


VCU led this game by 15 late in first half, but LSU fought back- they were outscored 23-13 on the foul line. Quality game between two teams I expect to see in March.

12) Ohio State 76, Villanova 51— Buckeyes led this game 40-22 at halftime.


It is very, very early in the season; some teams are way ahead of others. It is easy to overreact to unusual scores, once we get to Thanksgiving, we can begin to do some evaluating.

11) NFL finalized its Week 16 schedule by putting three games on Saturday, Dec 21; Texans-Bucs, Bills-Patriots and Rams-49ers.

Kucherov has 4-point game, Lightning rout Rangers 9-3

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Nikita Kucherov had a goal and three assists, Steven Stamkos scored his 399th career goal and added two assists, and the Tampa Bay Lightning routed the New York Rangers 9-3 on Thursday night.


Tampa Bay's nine goals tied a team record. Five scores came on the power play, which also matched the franchise mark.


Kucherov had a goal and a pair of assists as Tampa Bay scored four times in the opening seven minutes. Stamkos got his second goal in 10 games on the power play during a four-goal second that made it 8-1.


Alex Killorn scored two power-play goals and picked up an assist, and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 20 shots to tie Ben Bishop for the most wins by a Tampa Bay goalie with 131.


The Lightning, who hadn't played since Saturday when they completed back-to back wins over Buffalo in Stockholm, Sweden, also got goals from Luke Schenn, Ondrej Palat, Pat Maroon, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Yanni Gourde. Victor Hedman had three assists and Gourde recorded two assists.


Filip Chytil scored two goals and Chris Kreider also scored for the Rangers. Alexandar Georgiev was pulled early on after allowing four goals on nine shots, before returning to start the third period. Henrik Lundqvist replaced Georgiev and gave up four goals on 19 shots.

JETS 4, PANTHERS 3


SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Mark Scheifele scored late in the third period to lift Winnipeg over Florida.


Adam Lowry, Nikolaj Ehlers and Josh Morrissey also scored for the Jets. Patrik Laine had three assists, including his 200th career point. Laurent Brossoit stopped 33 shots.


The Jets are 5-1-1 in their Last six games following a 2-5-0 stretch.


Vincent Trocheck scored twice and Aleksander Barkov also had a goal for Florida. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 26 shots.


HURRICANES 5, SABRES 4, OT


BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Dougie Hamilton scored in overtime and Carolina overcame a late blown lead to beat Buffalo.


Hamilton capped a back-and-forth game that featured three goals in the final 6:25 of regulation. After Buffalo's Johan Larsson tied it with 41 seconds left in the third period, Hamilton scored 2:32 into the extra session on a slap shot from the right circle after Ryan Dzingel drove to the net and left the puck for Hamilton.


Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen each had a goal and two assists for the Hurricanes, who have won two straight following a four-game losing streak. Jordan Staal and Sebastian Aho also scored for Carolina. Petr Mrazek made 29 saves.


Jeff Skinner had a goal and an assist for Buffalo, which has lost six in a row following a 9-2-1 start. Henri Jokiharju and Curtis Lazar also scored, and Carter Hutton made 24 saves.


WILD 3, COYOTES 2

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Jordan Greenway deflected in a goal with 7:49 remaining, and Minnesota beat Arizona.


Zach Parise had a goal and an assist and Kevin Fiala scored for the fourth time in six games for Minnesota, which had just finished a four-game West Coast Swing. The Wild were tied for an NHL-low 13 points entering the day amid a road-heavy early schedule. They are 4-1-1 at home.


Devan Dubnyk made 27 saves for Minnesota.


Conor Garland and Lawson Crouse scored for Arizona, which came back twice to the tie the game. Antti Raanta stopped 31 shots.

OILERS 6, AVALANCHE 2


EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Connor McDavid had three goals and three assists and Leon Draisaitl had five assists - career highs for points in a game for both players - as Edmonton routed Colorado.


Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two goals and Zack Kassian also scored for the Oilers (13-6-2), who have won three of four.


Andre Burakovsky scored two goals for the Avalanche (11-6-2), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.


STARS 4, CANUCKS 2


VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Tyler Seguin had a goal and an assist and Dallas beat Vancouver for its sixth win in seven games.


Justin Dowling, Alexander Radulov and Blake Comeau also scored for Dallas (10-8-2). Joe Pavelski and Miro Heiskanen each added two assists. The Stars, who beat the Flames 3-1 Wednesday night in Calgary, are 6-0-1 in their last seven games.


Jake Virtanen and Troy Stecher scored for the Canucks (10-7-3). Vancouver has one win in its last six games (1-4-1).


Anton Khudobin made 32 saves for Dallas. Vancouver's Jacob Markstrom stopped 25 shots.

SHARKS 5, DUCKS 3


ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Brent Burns scored on the power play and Evander Kane had a short-handed goal in the third period, helping San Jose beat Anaheim for its fifth straight win.


Tomas Hertl scored twice for the Sharks, who added a road victory to four previous home wins.


Logan Couture finished off the victory with a goal in the final minute, his third of the season.


Rickard Rakell, Jakob Silfverberg and Max Jones scored goals for the Ducks, who stumbled to a 2-3-2 record on a season-long seven game homestand. The Ducks opened the season 6-1-0 at home.


KINGS 3, RED WINGS 2, OT


LOS ANGELES (AP) - Alex Iafallo scored 23 seconds into overtime and Los Angeles beat Detroit.


Kings forward Adrian Kempe scored with 1:48 remaining in the third period to tie the game at 2-all, and Iafallo got a shot into an open net after Drew Doughty's pass caromed off the boards. The Kings won consecutive games for the second time this season.


Anze Kopitar had a goal and two assists for Los Angeles, and Jonathan Quick made 19 saves.


Tyler Bertuzzi scored twice for Detroit. The Red Wings had their three-game win streak snapped. Jonathan Bernier made 28 saves.

13) So far this season, NBA road teams who played the night before are 17-9-1 ATS.


NBA teams playing the first of back/back nights are 19-24 ATS, the second night 22-17-3.


If the Clippers are playing back/back, find out which night Kawhi Leonard is playing, then go against them in the other game.


12) Browns 21, Steelers 7— Pittsburgh has had two games this year with no takeaways; they lost those games 33-3/21-7. They forced 25 turnovers in their other eight games.


An actual brawl broke out in this game with 0:08 left; Cleveland’s DE Myles Garrett hit Mason Rudolph with his own helmet, after he ripped it off the Pitt QB’s head. Then Steeler C Pouncey was punching/kicking Garrett in retaliation. Suspensions will result.


These teams play again in Week 13; that should be fun.


11) Michigan State 76, Seton Hall 73— This seemed like a March game; Myles Powell scored 37 for the Pirates. Unusual game; only two players on each team scored in double figures.


10) Penn State 81, Georgetown 66— Nittany Lions ran out to a 25-7 lead, made 13-29 on arc, and had an easy win here. Penn State shot better outside the arc than inside it.


9) LA Chargers are practicing in Colorado Springs for a few days, to help get them ready for the high altitude they’re going to experience Monday night in Mexico City.


Charger players didn’t seem too excited about it; Rams did this LY, but then that game was pulled out of Mexico and moved to the LA Coliseum because the field in Mexico was deemed unsafe to play on.


8) Baseball stuff:
— Atlanta Braves signed closer Will Smith to a 3-year deal worth $39M.
— Jake Odorizzi accepted a $17.8M qualifying offer from the Twins.
— Jose Abreu accepted a $17.8M qualifying offer from the White Sox.


7) Memphis Tigers’ freshman C James Wiseman has been ruled ineligible, probably won’t be playing in college anymore. He is expected to go very high in next June’s NBA Draft.


6) Ohio U has an interesting basketball team; they played eight guys in wins at St Bonaventure, Iona; six freshmen, two seniors. That only happens when you have a new coach.


Bobcats are the #335 experience team right now; their bench is playing minutes #347, but they’ve made 44.7% of their 3’s and they have two road wins. Good for them.


5) Only 2 of 12 Pac-12 teams (Oregon State/Wazzu) have lost out of conference- Colorado beat Arizona State over in China; the league is 23-2 SU out of conference. Still too early to tell, but is the Pac-12 having a resurgence?


4) Saint Mary’s gets a quality win on a neutral court over Wisconsin, then loses at home to Winthrop, negating the quality win. Not good.


3) Few years down the road, when Pete Alonso strikes it rich with his first huge contract, hope the Mets remember how they’re using his name to squeeze every last dollar out of their fanbase. In 2020, Alonso’s 2nd season, they’re having two Alonso bobblehead days:


March 28th – Rookie of Year bobblehead
June 20th – Custom Marvel Superhero bobblehead


2) San Francisco Giants hired Gabe Kapler as manager, a sign that they’re becoming more analytics-based. Thank the Lord I don’t have any Giants on my fantasy team; I had five Phillies on my team when Kapler took over there.


Lets just say it didn’t go well for those five guys, or me.


1) Golden State Warriors are 2-10 and headed towards the lottery; next year they’ll have Steph Curry and Klay Thompson back, plus a lottery pick, and they’ll be contenders again. Going to be a long winter for Steve Kerr, but it’ll pay off down the road.

Canadiens respond to Ovechkin hit with scoring flurry
November 15, 2019

WASHINGTON (AP) Shea Weber scored to extend his points streak to five games, Carey Price made 25 saves and the Montreal Canadiens responded to a big hit by Alex Ovechkin on Jonathan Drouin, beating the Washington Capitals 5-2 on Friday night.


Phillip Danault, Weber, Jordan Weal and Nick Suzuki scored after Ovechkin flattened Drouin with an open ice hit that knocked him out for the rest of the second period. Drouin returned for the third.


Ovechkin's shoulder-to-shoulder blow on Drouin was the first big highlight of the night after a ho-hum first period. Ovechkin appeared to leave his feet to deliver the blow, and Drouin was slow to get up before skating to the bench and going down the tunnel.


Four goals in 11 minutes after the hit provided enough support for Price, who beat the Capitals for just the eighth time in 27 career games. Price's biggest save came a few shifts after Drouin's injury when he denied Jonas Siegenthaler and was bailed out by defenseman Brett Kulak blocking the rebound, and he made a series of crucial stops in the final minutes.


Ovechkin scored on the power play in the third period, his 14th of the season, and Evgeny Kuznetsov added a breakaway goal with 4:22 left to make things interesting. Tomas Tatar sealed it with an empty-netter.


BLUE JACKETS 3, BLUES 2, OT


COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Zach Werenski scored 3:34 into overtime to lift Columbus past St. Louis.


With the Blue Jackets on a 4-on-3 power play, Werenski buried a shot from the right circle. He has scored in three straight games.


Pierre-Luc Dubois scored for Columbus early in the third period to tie it at 2. Vladislav Gavrikov got his first NHL goal and Joonas Korpisalo made 25 saves for the Blue Jackets.


Mackenzie McEachern and Brayden Schenn scored for the Stanley Cup champion Blues, who lost a second consecutive game in overtime. Jake Allen, starting ahead of Jordan Binnington on the first night of a back-to-back, had 36 saves.

BRUINS 4, MAPLE LEAFS 2

TORONTO (AP) - Brad Marchand scored two third-period goals to help Boston beat Toronto.


Charlie Coyle had a goal and an assist, Zdeno Chara added a goal, and Tuukka Rask made 29 saves. The Bruins snapped a 0-2-2 skid.


Auston Matthews and Kasperi Kapanen scored for Toronto, and Frederik Andersen made 30 saves. The Maple Leafs have dropped four straight games, the last three in regulation.


DEVILS 2, PENGUINS 1


NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Mackenzie Blackwood made 38 saves and Travis Zajac and Blake Coleman scored in New Jersey's victory over Pittsburgh.


Jack Johnson scored for Penguins and Matt Murray made 19 saves.


It was Pittsburgh's first game without star center Sidney Crosby. He's expected to miss at least six weeks following surgery for a core muscle injury.


SENATORS 2, FLYERS 1


OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) - Filip Chlapik scored in the second period, Anders Nilsson made 26 saves and Ottawa killed off a late four-minute power play to beat Philadelphia.


Ottawa's Colin White took a double minor for high-sticking Claude Giroux with just over four minutes remaining. The Flyers pulled Carter Hart for a two-man advantage, but were unable to score.


Tyler Ennis also scored for Ottawa. Tyler Pitlick scored for Philadelphia.

13) Browns’ DE Myles Garrett was suspended indefinitely (minimum of 6 games) by the NFL after the fracas at the end of the Browns’ game with Pittsburgh Thursday night.


Cleveland DT Larry Ogunjobi was also suspended for a game; Pittsburgh’s center Maurkice Pouncey was suspended for three games.


12) Shaky programming move by ESPN, putting the UNC-Pitt game on Thursday night, same time the Steelers were playing. Wednesday or Friday would’ve worked better.


11) Pittsburgh Pirates hired former Red Sox GM Ben Cherington as their new GM, then fired assistant GM Kyle Stark. Cherington was GM in Boston when they won the 2013 World Series, but got the boot two years later- they’re not real patient in Boston.


Cherington’s first job is probably to hire a manager, seeing how the Pirates don’t have one yet after they fired Clint Hurdle.


10) West Virginia 68, Pittsburgh 53— ESPNU’s analyst for this game was Chris Spatola, who is Mike Krzyzewski’s son-in-law. Pitt is coached by former Dukie Jeff Capel; they did couple of segments during the game where they showed Pitt’s new locker room, it was like a Pitt Panther infomercial, geared towards recruits.


Meanwhile, West Virginia has a big kid named Oscar Tshiebwe who dominated the game inside, with 20 points, 17 rebounds in his second college game. Mountaineers have won four in a row over Pitt for first time since 1977.


9) Rhode Island 93, Alabama 79— Solid win for the A-14, with URI forcing 22 turnovers (+10).


8) Gonzaga 79, Texas A&M 49— Zags are this generation’s version of the Jerry Tarkanian UNLV teams; a national power that dominates a mid-major league in January-February, and uses pre-conference play to test itself in games like this. Aggies shot 30.4% from floor in this game.

Kuemper records shutout, Coyotes beat Flames 3-0

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Darcy Kuemper stopped 37 shots and slammed an opponent to the ice during a brawl in the second period, and the Arizona Coyotes beat the Calgary Flames 3-0 Saturday.


After Calgary's Johnny Gaudreau cross-checked Arizona's Jason Demers late in the second period while Demers was down on the ice, Kuemper put the Flames' Matthew Tkachuk in a headlock and flipped him off his feet. Tkachuk came up swinging and landed a few blows on Kuemper in a dustup that also included Calgary goaltender David Rittich barreling in from the other side of the rink.


The crowd chanted Kuemper's name as he returned to the net. Three Flames and two Coyotes combined for 14 penalty minutes. Vinnie Hinostroza served Kuemper's four-minute roughing penalty, and Rasmus Andersson sat for two minutes on Rittich's behalf.


Derek Stepan, Carl Soderberg and Lawson Crouse scored, and Arizona won for the third time in four games.


Kuemper and forward Nick Schmaltz played in their 200th career NHL games.


STARS 5, OILERS 4, OT


EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Jamie Benn scored 1:14 into overtime, and Dallas beat Edmonton for its third consecutive win.


Benn converted a backhand to close out Dallas' 3-0-1 trip to Canada. It was Benn's first goal since Oct. 10 and his second on the season.


Jason Dickinson, Miro Heiskanen, Blake Comeau and Tyler Seguin also scored for the Stars (11-8-2), who have won 10 of 12 overall.


Jujhar Khaira scored two goals for the Oilers (13-6-3), who have lost two of three. Leon Draisaitl and Ethan Bear also scored.


JETS 4, LIGHTNING 3


TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Connor Hellebuyck made 31 saves and Winnipeg overcame Steven Stamkos' 400th goal and beat Tampa Bay.


The 29-year-old Stamkos is the ninth active player and 98th overall to reach the milestone.


Mathieu Perreault, Nikolaj Ehlers, Jack Roslovic and Kyle Connor scored for Winnipeg, which is on a 6-1-1 roll. The Jets are 9-1-1 in one-goal games.


Andrei Vasilevskiy finished with 23 saves. Victor Hedman got his fourth of the season for Tampa Bay. Anthony Cirelli also scored.


KINGS 4, GOLDEN KNIGHTS 3


LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jeff Carter scored in his 1,000th career game and Los Angeles beat Vegas for its third straight victory.


Drew Doughty had a goal and an assist for the Kings, who are on their longest win streak of the season. Nikolai Prokhorkin scored his first career goal, and Jonathan Quick made 28 saves.


Max Pacioretty and Jonathan Marchessault each had a goal and an assist for the Golden Knights, who have lost five straight. William Karlsson also scored, and Malcolm Subban made 21 saves.


Carter tipped Matt Roy's shot from the blue line to put the Kings ahead 4-3 at 12:42 of the third period. It was the 371st career goal and 713th point for Carter, who also played his 500th game with the Kings.


HURRICANES 4, WILD 3, OT


ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Andrei Svechnikov's goal 1:33 into overtime lifted Carolina to a victory over Minnesota.


Joel Edmundson, Brock McGinn and Warren Foegele also scored for Carolina. James Reimer made 32 saves.


Luke Kunin, Zach Parise and Carson Soucy, who netted his first NHL goal, scored for the Wild. Dave Dubnyk made 24 saves.


PENGUINS 6, MAPLE LEAFS 1


PITTSBURGH (AP) - Dominik Kahun scored two goals and Pittsburgh routed Toronto.


Kahun matched a career-high with three points. Bryan Rust also had a three-point game, with a short-handed goal and two assists.


Jake Guentzel and Evgeni Malkin each had a goal and an assist, and Jared McCann also scored for the Penguins, who bounced back from Friday's 2-1 loss at New Jersey. The Penguins have won three of their last seven games, but have points in seven of their last nine games.


Tristan Jarry made 32 saves for Pittsburgh. Jarry has allowed two or fewer goals in four of five outings.


Jason Spezza scored his second for Toronto. The Maple Leafs lost their fifth straight, their longest skid of the season.


Kasimir Kaskisuo stopped 31 shots for Toronto in his NHL debut.


ISLANDERS 4, FLYERS 3


PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Anthony Beauvillier scored twice during New York's three-goal, third-period rally, and the Islanders beat Philadelphia in a shootout.


Beauvillier and Mathew Barzal combined to erase a 3-0 deficit in the final 13 minutes of regulation, and Jordan Eberle and Barzal scored in the shootout.


The Islanders are on a 13-0-1 roll that has vaulted them into second place in the Metropolitan Division behind Washington. It's New York's longest stretch without a regulation loss since a 15-game run in 1982.


Thomas Greiss stopped 28 shots for the Islanders.


Sean Couturier and Ivan Provorov and Oskar Lindblom scored for the Flyers.

CAPITALS 3, BRUINS 2, SO.


BOSTON (AP) - T.J. Oshie tied it with 59 seconds left in regulation and Jakub Vrana scored the decisive goal in the shootout as Washington beat Boston in a matchup of the Eastern Conference's top teams.


Charlie Coyle scored to open the shootout for Boston, but Braden Holtby stopped the next four tries. Nicklas Backstrom tied it on Washington's third try and then, after Jaroslav Halak's glove save on Alex Ovechkin went to a replay review, Vrana scored the winner.


Holtby stopped 21 shots for Washington, which outshot the Bruins 44-23 in regulation. Travis Boyd scored in regulation for the NHL-best Capitals.


David Pastrnak scored to break a second-period tie, and Coyle also had a goal in regulation for Boston. Halak made 42 saves for Boston, which has beaten the Capitals just once in 15 tries (0-11-4).


PANTHERS 4, RANGERS 3


SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Evgenii Dadonov scored twice to lead Florida over New York.


Mike Hoffman and Brett Connolly also scored, and Jonathan Huberdeau and Keith Yandle each had three assists for the Panthers. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 30 shots to help coach Joel Quenneville get his 900th career victory.


Huberdeau increased his career total to 252 assists, taking over the franchise record after coming in tied with Stephen Weiss.


Ryan Strome, Artemi Panarin and Tony DeAngelo scored for the Rangers, and Henrik Lundqvist finished with 26 saves.

SABRES 4, SENATORS 2


BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Jack Eichel scored four goals to lead Buffalo over Ottawa.


It was the first four-goal performance of Eichel's five-year NHL career, and the first by a Sabres player since Thomas Vanek in April 2010. It was Eichel's second hat trick, with the first coming on Dec. 15, 2017, against Carolina.


The Sabres snapped a six-game losing streak and improved to 10-6-3.


Linus Ullmark made 21 saves for Buffalo.


Tyler Ennis and Anthony Duclair scored for Ottawa, which lost after consecutive wins. Craig Anderson made 28 saves.


DEVILS 4, CANADIENS 3, OT.

MONTREAL (AP) - Kyle Palmieri scored a power-play goal 1:30 into overtime to complete New Jersey's comeback from two goals down in a win over Montreal.


Nikita Gusev, Nico Hischier and Wayne Simmonds also scored for the Devils, who trailed 3-1 late in the second. Mackenzie Blackwood, playing his second game in two nights, stopped 31 shots.


Brendan Gallagher, Cale Fleury and Nick Suzuki scored for the Canadiens, who had a three-game win streak snapped. Keith Kinkaid made 39 saves against his former team.


DUCKS 4, BLUES 1


ST. LOUIS (AP) - Derek Grant recorded his first career hat trick, Ryan Getzlaf added a goal and an assist, and Anaheim beat St. Louis.


It was just the second multigoal game of Grant's 229-game career and first since Oct. 20, 2017.


John Gibson made 37 saves as the Ducks snapped a five-game losing streak.


Vince Dunn scored and Jordan Binnington made 21 saves for the Blues, who had their nine-game points streak snapped with their first regulation loss since October 26.


BLACKHAWKS 7, PREDATORS 2


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist, and Chicago routed Nashville for its third straight victory.


Robin Lehner made 39 saves for Chicago, and Alex Nylander had two goals in the third period. Erik Gustafsson, Dominik Kubalik, Brent Seabrook and David Kampf also scored.


The Blackhawks improved to 5-1-1 in their last seven games. It was a markedly different performance than their first meeting with Nashville this season, a dominant 3-0 win for the Predators on Oct. 29.


Nashville got two goals from defenseman Roman Josi in its fourth consecutive loss. Pekka Rinne allowed four goals in 14 shots before he was replaced by Juuse Saros.


Kane's goal-scoring streak reached five games and his point streak eight.


AVALANCHE 5, CANUCKS 4, OT


VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Nathan MacKinnon scored his second goal of the game 27 seconds into overtime, lifting Colorado past Vancouver.


MacKinnon used his speed to go around a Canucks defender and scored on goalie Thatcher Demko's blocker side.


Andre Burakovsky had a goal and an assist, and Nazem Kadri and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare also scored to help the Avalanche improve to 4-1-0 in their last five games. Rookie defenseman Cale Makar added four assists.


Colorado goalie Antoine Bibeau, who was making his first NHL start since the 2016-17 season when he started two games for Toronto, stopped 28 shots.


Adam Gaudette had two power-play goals, and Alex Edler and Brock Boeser also scored for Vancouver, which fell to 1-4-2 in its last seven games. Josh Leivo had two assists and Demko had 18 saves.


SHARKS 4, RED WINGS 3, SO


SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Kevin Labanc had a goal, two assists and the shootout winner as San Jose beat Detroit for its sixth straight win.


Logan Couture had three assists and Erik Karlsson and Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored for San Jose.


Andreas Athanasiou scored twice and Taro Hirose added one for Detroit, which has dropped 12 of 16.


The Sharks moved to .500 (10-10-1) for the first time since they were 3-3 on Oct. 15.


Martin Jones had 25 saves and stopped all three Red Wings attempts in the shootout.


Jimmy Howard had 16 saves and stopped 2 of 3 shootout attempts.
