Daryl Homer of The Bronx, USA (to the left in picture below) is preparing to begin the gold medal match in men's individual sabre. No American has won a medal since 1984.

Tonight's lineup for the U.S. women's 800 freestyle relay: Allison Schmitt, Leah Smith, Maya DiRado and Katie Ledecky. Teammate and fellow co-captain Elizabeth Beisel posted a photo of herself, Schmitt and 200 butterfly finalist Cammile Adams on Instagram earlier in the day with this: "My two best friends are racing in their last Olympic finals EVER so if you are a friend of mine you're automatically cheering for them.''

USA saber fencer Daryl Homer takes the silver, losing 15-8 to defending Olympic champion Aron Szilagyi of Hungary. Homer is the first American man to medal in fencing since Peter Westbrook took bronze in 1984. The last American men's silver was Joe Levis in 1932. The last American man to win gold? 1904, Albertson Van Zo Post.

Gotta say I'm very disappointed in the Women's beach volleyball uniforms. There's just something missing.

I see they have long sleeves on tonight....That does look a little funky I agree.

Missy Franklin's struggles continue in Rio. She will not swim in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay after she didn't have a fast enough time in prelims for her coaches to put her in the lineup for the evening final. She could still earn a medal with other prelim swimmers who didn't make the final lineup. Allison Schmitt, Maya DiRado, Leah Smith and Katie Ledecky will swim tonight.

U.S. Men's Basketball Team Holds Off Australia, Stays Unbeaten In Rio.

CpikKONUkAAtGsT.jpg

Carmelo Anthony and Kyrie Irving had the answers in the first test for the U.S. Olympic men's basketball team.
Anthony scored 31 points on the night he became the U.S. men's Olympic career scoring leader, combining with Irving for all of the Americans' baskets in the fourth quarter of a 98-88 victory over Australia on Monday night.

Kevin Durant capped off the scoring with two free throws, making him the only other player than Irving or Anthony to score in the period.
Irving -- born in Australia -- added 19 points, including a 3-pointer with 1:35 left after Australia had closed within four.

A U.S. team that had won its first two games without breaking a sweat trailed early in the fourth quarter before Anthony hit a flurry of 3-pointers to put the Americans on top.
Patty Mills scored 30 points for Australia.
