Correct no voter fraud here.Scumbag disgraced mayor was told not to vote and did so anyway with no problem. So are you stupid enough to think if he had no problem doing it,that no one else did?He appears before judge tomorrow and hopefully he goes directly into custody. He had already asked for an extension in order to be with family thru holidays. What a dumbass.
No voter fraud in NC!!
Former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon was sentenced last month to
44 months in prison after pleading guilty to a charge involving political corruption. As a result, under law, Cannon lost his right to vote.
But the Mecklenburg County Elections office confirms Cannon
did cast an early vote on October 30, and his name is still listed as active on the roll of voters.
Elections Director Michael Dickerson said he never received any notification to remove Cannon's name.
"His name stays on the records, the voter registration records, until I get authorization to remove it," Dickerson said.
Tuesday night, former mayor and now Governor, Pat McCrory, said the fact that Cannon voted shows there is still a need to tighten voting procedures.
"A lot of people, including the media, was saying we had no voting problem, but that shows one very significant voting issue that we still have to resolve in this state and many other states," McCrory said.
On Thursday, Cannon will have to return to court on order of Judge Frank Whitney to explain his side of what happened.
The judge, who has allowed Cannon to remain free until the start of his sentence later this year, could order Cannon to surrender immediately as a result of casting that one vote.
That vote has also now been officially challenged, meaning the Board of Elections will hold a hearing on the challenge in the next 10 days.
"It's an absentee ballot by early voting, and that means we can retrieve that ballot if the challenge is sustained and they decide to remove it."
