Koopsta, thanks for the laugh, but I promised Coach LT I wasn't going to use the L word much here (for a short while). He's gotten too old to be disturbed and reading the L word messes up his vision and thinking.

Some of the season win total bets are as good as cashed imo.

If I would have been able to get enough bet on Illinois when it was -2.5 or -3 that would have been one, but at nearly a td its only a larger than average play. LOL

Let me get through the first week with a decent week and I'm sure I'll find at least one L for the forum in week 2.

After the first few weeks sometimes im one of the better ones to fade around here.

Good luck this season to you.

Woof, just a little feedback for you about the UCLA/SDSU game.

While UCLA may sport a pretty formidable defense, Chuck Bullough basically coming in to nurture what DeWayne Walker left in his wake when he was hired away to be NM St.'s new HC.... pretty good all around defense with no glaring weaknesses. Bullough is kinda the mean sort. They need some mean to keep them busy.

And then there is UCLA's OL. In shambles yet another year. I don't know if you have been following us Pac guys thread, but Ted Miller, most excellent ESPN WC football guru has them listed as 10th (in a conference of 10) on his best to worse OL's in the Pac-10 conf. I hesitatingly agree only because it's hard to accept anyone can be much worse than WSU. Still, I think the company they keep is very revealing.

So I'm playing an UNDER total on that one. (51½)

I am very interested to see what Brady Hoke can do with the Aztecs out this way. So he's handling their DL... interesting. Next time I arrange a trip to Tijuana to pick up a supply of cheap liquors, Kahlua etc., I may take in a game if the timing works out. It's worth sticking around for some of the best weather on planet earth.

Hay woof... can I ax a favor of you?

Since you are gonna have the HUGEST gambling thread on the net can you 'update' and post your all your bets in one post? Lets say like every 30 posts or so? That is what I used to do at LLV and my LLV'ers loved it... Hanestly unless I read your whole thread I have no idea what you are betting.

I will post here early and often if you need some good CFB fades... @)

Leisure, ax and you shall receive

Im not going to update all the futures and win totals alot of the lines have moved and posted for preseason discussion with the regulars here that also bet win totals and futures.

However, below are all the straight bets I've posted so far in the thread.

Many of these games were bet and posted nearly 3 weeks ago, so of course the lines have changed. SDST is the only game I believe that moved opposite.

5* NC ST -3
5* UTAH ST +22.5
5* N. TEXAS +20
5* OHIO U +5 (WRONG TEAM IS FAVORED).
5* MINNY -5.5
5* ILLINOIS -6
8* SAN JOSE +36
4* IDAHO +6
4* MTSU +21
6* UAB -3 -120
4* TEX AM -12.5
4* NOTRE DAME -12.5
5* UL MONROE +40.5
3* WISC -15
3* STANFORD -15
3* San Diego St +18
5* Eastern Michigan -5
5* AKRON +27.5
4* TOLEDO +12.5

ADD 2 TOTALS:

2* GA/OKST UNDER 61.5
2* MINN/CUSE OVER 47

fwiw, I will be middling some of these games especially idaho / nmst once -2.5 or less is available.

thanks romanowski and same to you.

coach, step off your rocking chair and post some winners.

conan, thanks for the info and i also think it helps sdst that ucla has a tenn road trip on deck.

really expecting the usc/sanjose line to fall apart closer to kickoff. true freshman barkley going to start. one of their starting wr, ronald johnson is out for several weeks. a couple dl have injuries and wont be playing, and the center has a kneecap injury and they likely sit him for this game to rest for osu.

nt/ball st line also continuing to fall and im expecting it thursday to be 15 maybe 14.

spent most of today looking at every week 1 o/u and the small conference lines at 5dimes. limits are too small to spend much time on those games. o/u arent what i focus on but i do look closely at team totals but those are posted sooner to kickoff than now.

GL w00f!!!

I will be tailing you with SDSU and Stanford. I locked in Utah -20.5 and am waiting on the BallSt line to fall further.

I like the Ohio doggie as well. Has Mizzou really fallen that far to be a doggie to the Illini? Ya they lost Macklin, Daniels and Hood but still they should be solid..

Went short today... say a prayer for leisure!! :cripwalk:

Ball State? If you are going to bet them, imo wait as close to kickoff thursday as you can for the line should continue falling.

I played some very small multi game parlays keyed with ncst, utah st, north texas + and a couple with ntex ML along with a handful of the d2 games I liked at 5 dimes. Ball State is going to be bad this year and could lose this game outright to an improved nt team.

The Ill defense isnt anything special, but their offensive firepower looks like the best in the big 10. Pinkel is a great coach, but they lost too many great players for them to be only a td dog against illinois.

You are a socal guy, are you going to bet san jose/usc game?

Sdst should hang within the # and stanford should be able to throw all they want against wsu. I called wsu to see if I could walk-on as a db since injuries and suspensions have their # down. They said if I got on a plane before friday night, I could be their nickel db for saturdays game. LOL

Havent looked at the market in more than a week and will be away from it until next week. Was out of town and with football this close Ive gotten behind on research and tape watching.

Jdog reads this thread, but doesnt post. I did see he stopped by pops thread to post a few pow. His buddies at gs and barclays are more mafia than nba refs.

Im still waiting for team totals to be posted so if anyone sees them, please give a heads up. If team total lines match the spread/total projection, there will be a few layups to bet.

No I will not bet the USC game even though my kid is a USC alum and will be at the game... Pete is unlike many coaches and could care less about lines... he just doesn't run up the score for no reason.

Last year I urged my firends to bet against Wash St every game... they love me for life for that tip..

I live in San Diego and want desperately for SDSU to get back to where they used to be under Don Coryell ... man those were the days.... :drink:

Another classic post my man!! I'm suprised that this line on the Stanford game hasn't moved to 17 or better? I was doing my home work on the Ohio vs Uconn game and wanted to ask of your opinion on the total. Opened at 48 and now at 47. I'm expecting the defenses to out play the offenses resulting in a low scoring affair. Uconn ret 6 on both sides but have a new qb and rb on the road. Ohio is ranked #2 in a publication of most improved teams, but I don't expect them to march up and down the field on this Uconn D. I'm gladly taking the points (I expect an outright win by Ohio), but I'm considering an under play here too. :think2:
Also, I wish I had your +20 in the N texas game!! I grabbed 17 at last chance. Should be closer than 2 td's anyways. GL Woof:drink:

koop, i havent bet the total ohio/uconn game, but at 46 or 47 i lean now to the over if i was making a bet. prefer betting overs in ncaa that are in 40s. solich has a couple qbs that can move the ball and uconn defense should be weaker than last season. regardless how bad uconn is this season, they still have enough talent to move the ball against a mac defense.

I prefer to bet the unders in the first week when most of the defenses are ahead of the offenses. There are exceptions to the rule. But I think it's the safer bet in the first week. Especially in games involving new QB's or offensive lines. And if you can get two new starting QB's on both sides it makes it a much stronger play.

gs I agree that early d is ahead of o in most situations, but when a total is in mid 40s like this game it wont take much for the over to get there.

also in a game like ou/uconn both teams appear evenly matched, so OT is more likely and I just dont want to be on a mid 40s under.

similar to the discussion in the forum this evening about certain coaches blowing out weak teams in ooc games. some coaches bench starters, and have special teams schemes that produce blocks, fakes, big returns that quickly put points on the scoreboard.

i dont see this game being a blowout and neither do oddsmakers, so there probably wont be nfl style, run the ball to kill clock starting in 4q.

since there are so many teams using the spread offense, im just not comfortable betting unders in 40s and less.

koop, slowly but surely that san jose # is creeping lower. hoping to see 30.5 or less before saturday.

As bad as Ohio's defense was last season I would never bet the under in that game. I still kind of like Ohio playing at home. But I hate short lines involving BCS-Non BCS teams.

What is and where the heck did the name Pokes come from anyway?

:toast:

Woofy, it comes from a bunch of the college boys in Stillwater poking their dicks in sheep and Cows because the girls are ugly up there. Now you know.

hot from the budworth22 express newsroom

So Cal starting DB Shareece Wright has been declared ineligible for 2009 season.

San Jose looking more and more like a winner as we approach Saturday.

The season wins usc under 10.5 looks better too.

:)<<

GS, I agree about the short #. Phil Steele posted OU as his dog of week. I have them at a good # +5, but will get off most of it if I can get -2.5 uconn.

BS, I know folks down on the farm do some strange things sometimes, but I hope the Pokes can beat Georgia. Dont like a side in that game at current #, but do think the total is about a td too high so I bet under.

not trying to talk you out of anything but here's my opinion:

I know they scored a lot the last 2 years but that was in the middle of the season after these offenses got the kinks out. This game is normally a baseball score when these teams meet in week one. Of the week one matchups going back 7 years the highest total for these teams was 36 pts. out of 4 games (13-10,10-7,16-10, and 22-14).

Miami's D will be tough despite loosing a good D-lineman. On the other side of things, they have a young QB with little experience playing a Defense that is solid year after year. They also lost their starting tailback to boot.

I will probably be on the 1st half under maybe under for the game.

Miami had one of the worst defenses in the conference last year.

FSU has a new offensive coaching staff in its 3rd year and last year they had the conference's best offense.

FSU's defense will disappoint, trust me there.
