Russ, you are posting about Army new offense. My first ? for you is who is going to be doing the blocking for this Army offense?
Im actually pretty confident posting that EMU is MUCH stronger at QB RB & OL, and a stronger team in terms of overall talent.
Im not sure what you are thinking to disagree, but you have your opinion and I have mine based on the following:
Emu has a multi-year starter at QB, Andy Schmitt, who has a career 31-20 td/int ratio and 63% completion rate.
Emu has a pair of upperclassman RB that have posted solid #.
Army has two returning qbs that threw for a total of 4td last season. They also lost their leading rusher from last season. Nice find with the sprinter, but they still arent as deep as emu at RB.
I dont care who the coach is or the offense they are using. Until army has depth and overall talent to run a sophisticated offense, they are going to struggle. If the best jockey in the world hops on a donkey and runs the kentucky derby, ge still isnt going to win the race.
You posted about emu lacking size on the DL, but Army OL avg less than 265 lb and Army DL avg less than 250 lb. Regarding this game, Emu OL avg 287 and Emu DL is around 265 avg with DT at 273 and 290, I wouldnt call them a small front. Nevertheless, Army OL is very undersized. Unless its misprinted, Im seeing Army OT are 231 and 257, so I dont think EMU DL size matters much.
Id be more concerned about armys triple option with increased passing if it was in the middle of the season. For this game, emu has plenty of time to prepare. Another wildcard for army is 6-10, 283 lb TE, but if hes busy blocking he wont be downfield catching many passes.
