Mets bettors, sorry for the bad beat. Mets fans, go back to your mom's basement, take off your headphones and satin NYM jacket, and tune into Star Trek like a normal night.

anyone who bet on the mets... i think this is a sign that somebody up there does not want you to be a gambler

this is like you Holding A(s) A(c) and you go all in pre-flop and some one else has A(d) A(h) and calls... and the flop comes 2(h) 3(h) 8(h) K(h) J(d) and you lose to a flush ..........

hahahahaha please... PLEASE shut the fuck up with that joba in the bullpen bullshit.

this guy has four solid pitches, endurance, and all the make up to be an ELITE starter. he's a young pitcher, he's not even 25 years old yet, give the man some damn time, there are going to be learning curves and growing pains. get used to it.

you want 200 innings out of him or 70? long term, the guys an elite starter, any expert baseball scout will tell you that.

200 innings?
Do you have any idea how long Joba's average start is?
5 and 1/2 innings.
If he makes 32 starts he still falls 30 innings short of 200.
Joba is not an innings eater.
By endurance, if you mean 5.5 innings per average start, yeah he's got plenty of endurance.
Joba has made 23 (now 24)career starts.
In 12 starts last year Joba went seven innings just once.
12 starts and 65 innings is not endurance, what it is is a hinderance on the bullpen, if a starter can't go 6, you have to use a bullpen for 3 innings.
As a starter last year he had a mediocre 1.3 ratio.

In 11 previous starts before tonight this year, and tonight Joba stunk up the place, Joba has pitched 59 innings, once again 5 1/2 innings average.
His ratio is poor, 1.4 as he walks over 4 per nine.

What Joba did in 19 late inning relief appearances in 2007 was eye popping, putting up numbers that have hardly been ever put up.

Joba is a proven late inning reliever, Joba as a starter is not a failure, but nowhere close to a success.
Not even close, and has yet to prove he can be a reliable *enduring* starter.

Four solid pitches?
Try two.
Has a plus fastball when not throwing the snot out of it, when he does, it sails high, when he doesn't it's tough, topping out at 99.
With runners on, he goes to the fastball often, because he's slow to the plate.

His curve is a good 12-6 one.
Uses it to set up his fastball
I consider it a plus pitch, but he uses it often to righties who can hit the hard cheese.

His slider is average at best.
Has less than average break to it, and needs hitters to chase it out of the zone, if not, it's ball 4.

His change is crappy.
Has no tail, uses it mainly to lefties and only when ahead in the count.

And if I am not mistaking, Steve Sommers is coming on after the wrap up show.
Oh boy, I can't wait for that.
