Still owes me 500 bucks from last year's Celtics bet...have contacted him a few times but to no avail....what gets me was him ripping stiffs and then turns around and doesn't have the decency to contact me....

I know you obviously just did "call him out", but I don't understand why people don't do this.

If somebody stiffs me and there a big internet poster, I'm gonna make sure everybody knows about it.

Screw letting people go around stiffing and not warn others.

If they pay me I'll come back and say that as well.

I have a hard enough time keeping my mouth shut about the stiff's I know about that don't owe me and that I've been asked to keep in confidence.

Keeping it quiet is what the stiff wants you to do.

<HR style="COLOR: #336699" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->wasn't going to post again, and this has nothing to do with gambling, but want to set some shit straight...

Lost 15K in a matter of 3 weeks and it was stupifying. My old man bailed me out for the last time, the guy is still hoarse since sunday and i about killed him and my mom. If i ever bet again may god strike me down as i deserve to be run over by a bus for the hell i've put my family through. You guys saw a good run from July to early december here...since then its been pure hell. I'll not relive it again.

I got a 2nd job lined up to pay the old man back as fast as possible, my regular job already goes to pay my mortgage AND his from previous bailouts. Boys its not pretty. i pay back my debts though, always have, but to be in this position is sick, i should be living in a mansion right now.

Have not placed a bet since December 28th 2008, and that date will be etched in stone in my book.

To all of those who have shown genuine care and concern, god bless you, and to those otherwise, god be with you too.

Not here to expouse gambling pro's or con's, just to set the record straight. Will be selling blood plasma too as a means to pay back the old man, thats cash money and what the hell, it costs me nothing but an hour of time on a saturday morning.

Take care all, and again thanks for the kind words, they meant a lot to me as i looked at the other thread i made and this one.

i may check PM's for a little while and see what you all have to say, but my career as a gambler especially and as a poster are complete, i gambled enough in the past 13 years for 10 lives worth, the thrill is long gone.

Well of course the pretend doctor/e-bay scam artist liked him.

I actually like Brock, but his IPOD thread and the library thread was a classic!

and here is him seeking advice on how to stiff credit card company...

http://forum.therx.com/showthread.php?t=372602&highlight=credit+cards

Ain't that a damn shame Buster. Seems like half the posters here go touting their records, then end eventually with a "Well boys..." or "Sorry folks..." post where they are 'quitting' gambling. Then 6 months later we see a new poster with a strikingly similar writing style touting their plays. What we never discuss is what you mention, how many of these guys are crooks who would rip off the next guy in line for .99 cents. Brock's credit card post is EPIC, but exemplary of his shady character. My two cents. Feel free to call me what you want, but your word is all you have in life. Stiffing anyone is automatic for a scumbag rating.

I hope he learns from this and keeps his word and moves on. It sounds like he has a real problem...

I don't know if karma is a cosmic principle that automatically causes bad things to happen to people who treat others poorly. I do believe there is a natural social principle that causes us to be less happy in our lives when we try to take advantage of others.

When we were evolving in our early history it was the ones who helped others that made the people around them more likely to survive. Helping others helped the group become stronger as a social unit and better able to fend off things that were a danger to the group.

Sometimes the act of taking advantage of people is a symptom of the type of person they are. Bad things happen to them, like depression or compulsions of gambling not because of what they have done but because of who they are.

Good interesting words Quantum

Last time I seen him around was the Illinois/NU game thread. Hope all works out for him and his family. Sadly this won't be the last person around here the next six months.

Brock Landers went through and is apparently going through a rough time with gambling...here is what he posted from SBR back on Dec.28th....

I know we've seen a lot of these lately...but i am here to say i am making my very last post on the board. I don't know what the hell happened in the last month, specifically since Ball St lost on Friday December 5th, but i've been beaten and bloodied beyond belief and had to be bailed out by my family for the last time. its happened before over the years and now its happened again and one result is i need to now get a 2nd job. How the hell i still have a family if one of the great mysteries, i've put them through hell with my gambling and today it stops, or i die, one of the two.

Guys, i'm not telling ANYONE what to do, what i am saying is be smart and carefull, we are all a few bad weeks away from cashing in our chips for the last time. I certainly didn't see it coming, just a month ago i hit a monster play on Northwestern in college football. But thats long gone and then some.

If anyway wants to rip me, so be it, i hold no ill will, even towards an obvious novice as Venditto.

So to JJ Gold, Richie, Nicky Santoro, and all the rest of you i can't remember right now. Take care, its been fun, but all good things must come to an end.

Salud boys!
