I have zero respect for the game.

But I have respect for people. So like I said, if I offended anyone with the joke. Lo ciento.

Im talking about all athletic competition. I dont care if its ping pong.....and its "lo siento"

You're entitled to your opinion, I just thought it interesting that you so quickly fell in line with the typical "rx villiage idiot" mantra on soccer.

if the ref is in on a fixed match, he isn't waiting until
min 120ish of the match before getting involved.
incompetent probably, corrupt unlikely.

Maybe. That was one of the worst officiated matches ever. Still, that doesn't change the fact that soccer is the most corrupt sport.

Yeah right lol, he saw an opportunity and took it... most calls in favor of Mexico, there was no foul play in the area of CR during the entire game, until that last play.

There is also a culture issue, it is known in CR that all central american citizens but people from Panama, have a beef with Costaricans, especially in soccer matches. Players, soccer media and referees from Guatemala, Salvador and Honduras (Nicaragua sucks big time in soccer) always find a way to fuck us. Just like tonight.

There is a majority of caucasians in CR compared to other central american countries, due almost total anihilation of the indian race and heavy european mixing. I admit there is racism in CR towards the rest of Central America, and we get our fair share of hate from them in return. They mock us and calls us the American Switzerland.

What he said.

Plus Costa Rica was outplayed big time in 2nd half. Was just a matter of time.

So a blown call equals a fixed match? By that logic, 99% of all games are "fixed."

I thought it was the "Argentinians of Central America."

Agree, it was a shady call and with the current FIFA scandal, which very much involved CONCACAF leadership, it just looks bad. Let's be 100% honest, if the Ticos won the Georgia Dome would be about 10% full for the second game of the doubleheader vs Panama. Now that Mexico is involved, it will be a guaranteed sellout. CONCACAF needed those tickets sold to fund their salaries, operations, refs, etc.

They call us both things...

The Switzerland becuz we pride of being "white" and being "peaceful" no army.
The Argentinians becuz we are the most proud and obnoxious of central america.

I don't agree here. You don't call a penalty in the dying seconds of a game unless it is absolutely blatant.

Any ref worth his salt should know that and adhere to that.

But it is what it is. Anyways, had they made it to penalties I probably could've taken the Mexican side and just watched an entertaining shootout and gotten paid $30 for the pleasure to do so with no risk.

Boiled Down this debate about Match Fixing in regards to Soccer and especially Soccer that FIFA is involved in equals (=) If Replay is not in use then FIFA (or other parties able to do so) will fix matches. Period. And the only reason that Replay would NOT be in use is to preserve the ability to Fix Matches. Period Again.

FIFA could have had Replay in place EASILY throughout all these recent tourneys...U21 Men's in New Zealand, Women's World Cup, this Gold Cup tourney here....I don't know if FIFA was involved with Copa America Tourney but all of the aforementioned tourneys saw many MANY match altering bad calls that Replay would have set right.

To the questions: "Why would you not, as a governing body, want above all else for matches under your stewardship to be fairly settled? And why would you not use available Technology to ensure the fair settlement of all matches?" Theres really only one logical answer.

It would really be great if matches could be, across the board, decided on the pitch by the players and not by terrible calls (or "no calls") by officials. Maybe we'll live to see that day. Damn Straight if we do many of us we see our Soccer Betting Win % rise dramatically.
