Radio,

Kid please, obviously American isn't a race, don't try to patronize me I was just making a point. A lot of people here don't even know the difference between a racist and a bigot, but fine we'll play your semantics game. It was still an ignorant comment, and generalization is still the first mistake in logic. Your comment is no better than saying all Latinos are lazy or that all Muslims are terrorists. They are all prejudiced statements.

Again, from a guy that usually makes some pretty bright posts, I'm surprised.

jazz,

Think what you're saying before you speak. Think that perhaps your response proves my point.

I have NO problem with America.

You remember Saddam starting war with Iran just one year after consolidating his power.

I never stated that saddam was a "great guy" or that he should retain power. But I do remembering the US helping him during that conflict.

kaya,

I wasn't patronizing you. I have a problem with people misusing the term "racist". As far as generalizing goes, I speak from what I see. And if what I see holds some exceptions but happens to prove true a vast majority of the time, I will say it. Not as truth, but as observation.
Of course there are millions of americans that are very, very intelligent and innovative, creative and kind...I wasn't stating anything to the contrary of that.
But to say all americans mean well is also a generalization.

I have a bigger problem with people making prejudiced comments than the misuse of a particular word. Again I was making a point and the word served to make that point considering the average literacy level here on the RX.

I have to repeat this once more, you usually come off as a bright guy. Based on your logic, "I speak from what I see" I could say Latinos are lazy and disrepectful to women, it's still a prejudiced comment. "I speak from what I see", so I suppose you've met all U.S. citizens personally?

I never said all Americans mean well.

I simply called you out on a prejudiced comment. Everybody has prejudices, personally I tend to be prejudiced against repulicans. I think you should either withdraw your comment or accept your prejudice.

I accept my prejudice.
Many US expats are bad examples of gringos (used endearingly).

We share prejudice of repubs.
