2-2 Final

A fair result...N. Korea dominated poss. after they got that soft first goal. Midfield was really lacking for US. Ryan subs a forward w/ 3 min. left in stoppage?

N. Korea is good. Quick and aggressive. I think they outworked the majority of the US and were in better condition. Boxx and Lloyd were no-shows for this match. Defense was tentative in the 2ndH.

Excellent game tho.:aktion033

Exciting start to this Women's WC.

England dominated and prob. deserved the 3 pts. Japan went into a shell to protect their tenuous 1-0 lead. Smith put England on her back but a questionable foul at the end of stoppage...heartbreaker. England the antithesis to Germany as they could not finish on myriad scoring chances.

Sweden was knocking on the door and it looked like they would get at least two goals but Nigeria rallied for the equalizer.

the little girls scored in 95 th minute

basically everything went according to plan...japan , at least according to the ticker, was at least on same level as england..sweden and USA struggled and didnt get blow outs...that the both drew it s a surprise, no doubt, but i expected both teams to be close.

I still think for sweden it was their usually opening struggle (it s much more a shock for me than the ud draw).
For USA i am not so sure if they are just way overrated or Korea is a better team than i expected. Probably it s a bit of both. Korea definetely in the top 5-6 for me now.

rec now 2-0 +1.45 units

great result for Nigeria. thankfully that match started after I woke up or would have had it again

great stuff from Japan at the end, scoring on two free kicks. England a better team and the size difference was astounding. Having an American ref did not help Japan either as she was used to the physical play and not calling fouls on England that an Asian ref might have.

draw, draw, draw today

it s still an england national team..you have to remember that, when it comes to big tourney and knock-out stages.
If it s men or last week with the U17 boys and maybe with the women too...when pressure comes they somehow find a way to loose in an exciting way (when you ar not english)... that s why i hope the men win on Wednesday vs. Russia to make it to the European championship...nothing better (for a german) than to see England loose during the tourney on penalties :nohead:
sorry, no offense to the english, it s just a shear fact.

I will take the draw result.:dancefoolnice one, chris. England really deserved the the three pts. tho as they outplayed Japan. The next game might be interesting v. germany. Unfortunately, Smith picked up a yellow on that last free kick.

I got greedy w/ the Swedish game. Not a drop of rain after that earlier downpour. Over went six ft. under.

up to the next games:

Ghana- Australia: Ghana +1,+1.5 @1.80

Funny game and line. i can only say again: not much info available on these teams, but so far i seem be picking the right sources. now that seems to me a strange line. in past WC they played 1-1 in 1999 and Ghana won 2-1 in 2003.Australia so far in their WC history 2 draws and 7 losses. i am not really trying to make a case for Ghana here, just putting fact together that i dont understand they are fav so haevily. Probably both teams are not good and in the past they played tied matches.
Also a comment on fifa.com's preview lets me wonder: "meaning that Ghana will start as slight favourites, even though at 47th, they are the lowest FIFA-ranked team among the qualifiers."...but the line is Australia -1.25 ???
anyway, treat carefully, but i think Ghana is the side here.

Brazil- NZ: Brazil -3 @ 1.80 (yesterday..now no play)

I played Brazil -3 yesterday...now the line has moved to 4.25 !!!. With the total sitting at 5 that means that nobody is expecting NZ to score. Probably right. Brazil should be one of the top 5 teams here, while NZ is probably in the same class as Argentina. Then on the other hand to score 5 goals might be a lot. Still i can recommend to play Brazil if line goeas back to -4 (it s possible as lines move big time on these games--see US-game today)

China- Denmark: China pk,-0.5 @ 1.87

with regard to the past China is in the top 4 in women soccer, while Denmark probably just sitting one step lower. They are also solid, but are not sweden or norway. I think the line is only -0.25 on china as they played a terrible Algarve-Cup earlier this year finishing 9th...i dont know why that was and will not go deeper into it, just hope thehy perform as they always did on this level...playing at home should also help.

Norway- canada: Norway -1,-1.5 @1.95

i know many will make a case for canada, but Norway is my dark horse here for the tourney. a very solid european team, probably on similar level as sweden, reached the quters last WC. they played well vs. european opposition this year, which is also a good sign. They have 7 wins and 1 draw in history vs. Canada.
Canada on the other hand is not the USA (even distance wise close)..they finished 2nd in CONCACAF, but did somebody here mention that Argentina won the CONCACAF???
I still will take a solid european team always over any American team (South, middle or North), if it is not called USA.

BOL to all

some extra info I got trough from a very reliable source about the China Match:

Hosts look very well prepared for this event, money has been no object of course and they have a coach who is meticulous in her approach and took Sweden to the final, last time round. She has given priority to keeping the players nice and relaxed, believing that they are good enough for the results to take care of themselves. They finished their warm up games with a 4-0 win over Hungary, which could have been an even bigger victory, previously beating England 1-0. The mood in their camp is VERY good.

They have met the physically stronger Danes on 11 occasions and only lost once, winning 7.

Guess that this could be a draw, but I see little chance of China losing, that would be a disaster for team and country. Therefore see the -1/4 ball handicap, where we only lose half with a stalemate, as a strong selection.

big wager on this one for me today

Gonna take a chance w/ Denmark. First match for China and they could be very tight for this one. While they will get the benefit of the doubt as the host nation. I suspect the Danes might still sneak away w/ a result.

Canada is nothing much. Don't know much outside of Norway's pedigree.

you are right..line movements are soo big especially in last hour before game..and they going all over the place... at 0.25 China was OK (that was already a move from the pk opening line), but 0.5 is too much, even if it wins.
