Rob, not the point. IMHO

If Bruce Bochy would say in an off-hand comment that he was going to play more blacks in the middle of the baseball season because they can handle the heat/temp better what would happen to him in SF?

blacks are genetically more athletic thats why they play HB WR LB SAFTEY CORNER pretty much all DEFENSE positions.

whites are genetically more husky thats why they play OLine

obviosly this is a generalization but just look how many teams feild an all black Denfense and a predominatly white OL

I barely know who that is. He's not as popular as a Irvin or a Barkley so he should be fired for that. Do you see what I'm saying now? See what the Funk is cook'n?

What about the Monday Night Incident with Owens and the Desperate housewife. Would anyone have a problem if it was LaDainian Tomlinson or Tiki Barber that did that? Probably not.

The public eyesight is all about a popularity meter.

Considering our history, and wether it is right or wrong, isnt it normal that there is a double standard in the United States?

Not sure what ur cooking but have a fair guess as to what ur smoking :tongue2: j/k

Bochy is the new manager for the SF Giants baseball team and is a white guy. If he were to say what I suggested he would be forced to resign. A black manager has already said that, in essence, and got a pass.

Sam, I'm glad you have a good sense of humor. :)

All I am saying is no one wants to see fat ass Rush on TV. America wants to see the former athletes. The top rebounder, the guys who play WR and win in the superbowl.

How else do you think Bettis got work? They could put Jerry Rice on and he could be absolutely terrible as an analyst and most of us would say hey this is watchable stuff.

TheRightSide is on the right side of this one. The rules in society for what whites and blacks can and cannot say have to be equal.

OK Lets say Steve Young said that Donavan McNabb is a really cerebral QB and that this is due to to Steve's greatgreatgreatgreatgreat grandaddy must have took one the black broads out of the barn did a little breeding, thats the reason why Donvan is such a smart QB.

Where do you think Steve Young would be this AM?

(Hint: his career would be over forever.)

Is everybody here a moron?

Disregarding how stupid, ignorant, or racist anybody's comment was. The reason Limbaugh was fired is that one or more of the other on-air personalities (Tom Jackson??) told management basically "either he goes or I go". Management then made their decision (why they hired that phony hippocrital lying blowhard in the first place, I'll never fully understand).

I don't think any other on-air personality is making any similar demand regarding Irvin.

It has nothing to do with double standards. To think so is entirely misguided.

Jackson AGREED with Limbaugh on the show. That's what is soooo funny.

Limbaugh's quote from ESPN, "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well,'' Limbaugh said. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

Dusty Baker said it in Chicago and nothing happened. Check out this old ESPN story:

Baker: Black, Hispanic players hold up better in heat
<hr noshade="noshade" size="1" width="100%"> ESPN.com news services

CHICAGO -- Dusty Baker has already warmed up to the idea of having to manage all those dog-days-of-summer afternoon games at Wrigley Field. He can't change the schedule, and being a California native and former player, he was accustomed to long days in the outfield sun.
But did he spend too much time in it?
Baker, in his first year as Cubs manager, delved into heat and skin color when talking to reporters Saturday, saying black and Hispanic players hold up better under the summer sun and heat.
"It's easier for most Latin guys and it's easier for most minority people because most of us come from heat. You don't find too many brothers in New Hampshire and Maine and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Right?" he said with a chuckle.
"We were brought over here for the heat, right? Isn't that history? Weren't we brought over because we could take the heat?"
"Your skin color is more conducive to heat than it is to the lighter-skinned people. I don't see brothers running around burnt," Baker said before the Cubs beat St. Louis at Wrigley. "That's a fact. I'm not making this up. I'm not seeing some brothers walking around with some white stuff on their ears and noses."

I don't think your recollection is correct. I don't think anyone on that show agreed with Limbaugh's statement or sentiment (he was actually trying to promote his usual delusional rant about a so-called liberal media bias).

Yeah, I knew that. That's why I made the analogy.

I saw the clip several times back then, maybe it wasnt TomJ could've been Irvin?? But one of them said something like "Rush is right" or "Rush has a point" or something along of those lines.

But to the issue of "The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well." Do you NOT believe that?

Right Side, Favre does not suck. He is playing to long for the legacy he deserves but he does not suck compared to his peers. He has a ring and a boatload of records. Once you get your ring and play the way he has he has a right to go out on his terms, which should be after this year BTW.
