I've got a life to make better, as well as a family, so a "forum" just doesn't really fit into my list of things I should spend my time trying to fix.

People post to get a benefit, not for charity. Cost Vs. Benefit...that is the answer to identity's question, everyone has a different scale.

I'm glad it's easy for you.

Sharp post, Ironlock. I remember reading your posts when I used to lurk here way back when. You were one of the sharper guys around.

I would guess burnout. However, if you go to a place where you can get info on good/bad books or winning info, etc. you are ignorant to at least not get what you can out of it. When the infighting escalates, I say just go away until it dies down. For example, when I watch the news, and it is all negative, negative, followed by more negative, I switch the channel. I think the same thing applies here or anywhere else in life. However to never come back to a place that can make you money or provide inmformation on good deals with books or books who are unscrupulous IMO is not very smart. I say that any site that can provide good info including MW, Covers, etc. is worth keeping in your portfolio. And like I said, when it becomes annoying simply take a break and come back when you need something.

Why do people stop posting? Duh....

Anyone who stopped posting is not going to be around to answer you question. Anyone that does answer hasn't stopped posting.

Why not ask: What's it like to be dead?
The accuracy rate of the answers should be similar.

Mostly agree, especially about Conan but not Joe, I think he worked his butt off and made it better but Shrink wanted mods to be full time shills and garbage-post generators.

You are right about one thing: these forums used to be FULL of great discussions on sports. They are hardly about sports anymore, except from a very limited (by contrast) perspective. You just don't have the quality of posters here any more to engage in discussions so it ends up being what you say, a lot of chest-thumping and nonsense. The guys who really know the industry mostly left.

I was one of the orignial posters here and post about 5 times a year now.

Why? I think its really fun to get involved for everyone in the beginning, but after awhile, if you have any brains in your head, you realize that the rewards to posting anything of value...or very small if not non-existent.

The vast majority of smart, intelligent, and contributing posters get overwhelmingly drowned out by the egotistical geeks with no life that post non-stop and in general, simply take over a board. Conan was one, Joe was another.

I came to the board to share knowledge about "how to win betting on sports" with other like minded individuals...however, the important and necessary tools to become a "prominent" member of these boards now is to be ....PERSISTENT, OBNOXIOUS, LOUD, OVERWHELMING, IN YOUR FACE, NEVER ADMIT YOUR WRONG, KISS THE AS SES of THOSE THAT KISS YOURS, this is something I refuse to be a part of ....

Why post valuable information when the majority of people want to "LOCKS OF THE YEAR"....backed up by inflated or just plain fake "win/loss records"....

Ask the Shrink about the IN DEPTH discussions about strategy that used to take place here...they were great..and I learned a ton.

Don't want this to be all negative, these boards are one of the main reasons why I have become a consistent winner in Football, Baskets, and BAseball, as well as the commodity markets.

But I'm aftraid to say that this is no longer capable in the current, "whoever beats their chest the hardest" atmosphere.

The most intelligent posters simply quit posting, because of the prominence of simple minded idiots. Box and ONe continues to survive as does GM, and Winkyduck...Count Zero to a degree, Parlay is missing in action for over 2 years and countless others.

Kosar is the single sharpest bettor I know, but many of you would never know this.

I post to try and make positive changes for the gamblers here. A lot of Mods and other posters find me to be crude and obnoxious.
I really don't care. My intentions are to help everyone.

Changes I've help make.

Royal now makes there promotional E Mails very clear.

Rio has changed the misleading section in there promotion area regarding the "free 1/2 point."

Eventually fishfry will wise up and make the Baseball totals contest easier.

It's also fun to expose the blow hards and know it alls. For those of you who don't like me, two words ....

BLOW ME ...

Stalkers and con men like Pat McIrish drive good posters away.

For me, getting banned down the street seemed to do the trick
