I'd give the edge to Tiger because he's competing against EVERYBODY. But Federer lucks out whenever he doesn't face Nadal, who has dominated him in the past.

Nadal has dominated Federer on clay 4-0, but on every other surface Federer is 3-2 against Nadal. Nadal is a clay court specialist, 13 of his 17 career tour wins have been on clay.

6-3 is not dominating????? Beating Federer once is next to impossible.... Nadal has done it 6 out of 9 times (67%).... amazing.

its not fair to say Roger is a bigger favorite therefore he is better. tiger is playing againt a field where any of 75-80 could win. In tennis roger is playing agianst maybe 10-12 guys athat have any shot at winning at the most each week.

totally agree and roger plays each one head to head, tiger plays all 70 at the same time, aside from matchplay, where his record is unreal

<HR style="COLOR: #fdde82" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->How many good athlets are on the PGA tour? It is pretty close to ZERO outside of Tiger woods.

How many golfers had parents with 6 figure incomes on the pga tour? pretty close to 100%. How many players in these fields are non americans? not too many. Tiger is basically only beating American players. He gets his ass handed to him every ryder cup. Roger takes on the whole world

Rail,

Give it up, ok? Everytime you start talking about golf you come off as an even bigger idiot than I give you credit for... and trust me, I give you a lot of credit in that area. Where did you get your information about the incomes of parents of PGA tour players? And as far as Tiger just beating all American fields, app 30% of the Buick's field was non-American

We wouldn't have any arguments here if Federer would go against Serena Williams just once.......

There's been repeated discussions of "Tiger beating all 70-80 players at the same time". That's not entirely correct; he does not "beat them", he beats the COURSE.

Look up Tiger's HEAD TO HEAD i.e. matchplay record, it's not extraordinary <--- THIS is a truer indication of how much "one player dominates over others", a man-to-man, one-to-one match up.

No doubt Tiger is great, the best in golf ever perhaps. But if we talk about DOMINATION strictly, Federer.

Federer's thorn.....Nadal
Tiger's thorn.....can't think of one

Both dominate their sport, never thought I would say that Roger was the greatest tennis player ever, but he truly is.....

GDB,

Who has a better matchplay record in golf than Tiger? 3 straight Jr ams and 3 straight US ams and he's done pretty well in the matchplay events. And his record when holding a lead entering the last round is second to none in golf which is as close to matchplay as you can get in a normal tournament event. Check out his winning percentage against the players in his group during the final round and then tell me his matchplay record isn't extraordinary. And he's been doing it a lot longer than Fedex has.

Just like I thought.

We have a dead even stalemate 50/50

Lets call it a tie.

I bet they win 6 majors between the 2 of them this year.

This really shouldn't be close - Woods by a country mile.

Not knocking Federer but to win 140 player events week in week out is just totally different to cruising through against no hopers and then having to raise your game for 2 matches in tennis. Secondly Golf is not in the players sole control whereas Tennis is. Anyone who thinks Federer really doesn't understand Golf at all. Federer is a class act no doubt and wouldn't say a bad word against him but get real Woods or Federer is a non issue.

Hard to seperate the two. They both amaze me. This should be a very close poll. I expect a 55/45 type of vote.

I dont know what to vote. They are both the best at what they do in the history of there respective sports.
he is very close to being as good as pete sampras. pete would have beat him most of the time....

World golfing No. 1 Tiger Woods said that he was delighted to have his tennis counterpart, Roger Federer, walk the final nine holes of his practice round in Miami today. Woods Thursday begins the CA World Golf Championship while Federer is readying himself for a Saturday night start at the Ericsson Open in the same city.

"It was great to have Roger out here," Woods said. "He's a wonderful supporter of golf and I think it's pretty neat when you have probably the most dominant athlete on the planet in your gallery."

Woods and Federer - who both dominate their respective sports - have struck up a close friendship. Woods and wife Elin were guests in Federer's box during last year's US Open final, with Woods later celebrating in the locker room with his fellow No. 1. Federer has been in Woods' gallery at the HSBC Championship in China last year and at last month's Dubai Desert Classic.

After watching on television Federer claim his 10th Grand Slam title at January's Australian Open, Woods sent Federer a text message: '12 to 10' - a reference to the number of Grand Slam titles won by both men.

really?

they met once in their respective careers--at Pete's backyard, if you will, Wimbledon. A young, impatient, unpolished Federer won in 5....

Federer is the whole package, Pete never was.

pete still has the most grand slams.last i looked. pete was at the end of his carrer when he lost to roger. its funny though i remember when pete was young and popular and everyone was saying the exact same thing. it is sort of like the tom brady peyton manning comparison...to me imo i like to go with the guy who actually COMPLETES the season with the RING. is that not y they play the game?just ask d. marino......who? exactly.
