Just saying that since he's probably the best American Goalie ever, still young and in his prime, he's got a shot. Personally I'd take Lundqvist or Quick over Brodeur in his prime, and plus I've always thought Hasek was over rated. He was always out of position and had to use his athleticism to make big saves that shouldn't have been big saves. He was clutch though when it counted. Roy on the other hand was on a different level. His saves didn't always make the highlight reels, but that's because he was always where he was supposed to be like he was psychic or something. I remember Roy stealing the cup for Montreal in 1993. Montreal got out played in 4 out of 5 games that year and still won the Cup 4 games to 1 because of Roy's play.
and personally , wouldn't trust you as a GM/talent evaluator for a local minor hockey team
Hasek was over rated? He was unorthodox, not 'over rated'.
resume highlights:
Vezina Trophy (awarded to the NHL top goalie for season)- SIX .Last 50 yrs no one has won this amount
Hart Trophy -two . Since 1970 THE ONLY goalie to win this award. 44 yrs has gone by. He won it twice.
Stanley Cup Champion- twice
career SV%- .922 , highest career save %(not too shabby for a chap playing with smaller equipment than todays goalies, eh? )
Olympic gold - he WAS the story at Nagano. They won because of him.
OVER RATED?
today's goaltending? Butterfly style whores, with over sized equipment. Less skill needed. I'm more impressed with the hybrids.
